Excellent food and service. Would certainly recommend the Railway at Lowdham for a good night out. If you intend to dine at the weekend then make a reservation as it can be very busy.

Warm welcome, excellent food with friendly and efficient service. Made a change to be asked 'if we had room for a desert', not the usual 'do you require a desert menu'. Just a small extra friendly touch.

The food was wonderful as always. Great atmosphere in the pub and the service was attentive but gave you space to eat and enjoy your meal. Totally lovely evening.

4 of us had lunch, some from the lunch menu and some from A la Carte. All food was excellent and we had a very enjoyable time.

Wonderful food, good service, but table was near the door and draughty. There’s a different experience at one end of the pub near the kitchen with a restaurant feel , to the other end which is quite noisy and pub like

Lovely setting. The restaurant is well laid out and the tables well spaced. The staff were very friendly and efficient. And the food was good value for money. Oh, and very importantly, the wine list had something for everyone and was sensibly priced.

Lovely food, excellent service. All staff were polite, professional & very friendly. Great menu with plenty of choice especially for non meat eaters. I would definitely recommend a visit for lunch or evening meal.

The meal itself was lovely however unsure why we were charged £17.95 for the Pork Sunday dinner as this is not what the menu stated and seems extortionate for a Sunday roast (hence the overall experience rating given)

Our Second visit to the Railway and it hasn't improved, £22.50 for a Sirloin steak and the duck was very tough they may find it tough going when the Red Lion Re opens in Thurgarton. The Beer was not good tasted as though the pipes hadn't been claened.

Lovely staff but overall we all felt the food was a little lack lustre for the price. Almost but not quite was our impression. We were seated by a rear door and felt slightly cool.

Lovely imaginative dishes and decent wine selection. We had mutton, and a confit duck interesting side dishes. Was good to see the action in the kitchen

The whole experience was good. Welcoming staff, table ready for us and everything done in an orderly fashion. The Sunday roasts were good and served with a good mix of vegetables. They willing served me a half portion. What I would really recommend is the warm quince pear tart. It was light and served with a quince reduction and whipped cream. Delicious

Lovely cosy pub that serves excellent food. The food is always good quality and the presentation of each dish really entices you to eat everything up. The service was attentive without being intrusive excellent.

Beautiful food, drinks and amazing atmosphere, the front of house staff are friendly, it's also nice to be able to watch the chefs from the pass!

As always at the Railway, we had a very good meal in an attractive environment with exceptional service. The whole experience flows well, so maximum enjoyment can be had with a group of friends.

Nice food and staff.... Sunday roast dinner was really good but potatoes a bit hard. Someone had fish which wad really nice but the warm potato salad that came with it left a bit to be desired

Absolutely brilliant. Loved the place, loved the atmosphere and loved the food. Wonderful staff but disappointed they didn’t take my “Blue light card” for emergency services staff. There are not many places that do not now days.

Post half marathon meal and the railway didn’t disappoint. Great service, great food. The roast dinners didn’t disappoint with the pork belly being a particular highlight along with the sticky toffee pudding

Sunday lunch was good but not amazing. I love red cabbage, kids love cauliflower cheese and we all stuffing. Very fresh but a little boring!

Delicious food , nice lively atmosphere and pleasant staff who didn’t rush the meal but were attentive . Booked for a birthday meal which we mentioned on booking and had a nice table .

Heard a lot about this place so tried sunday lunch, next table compained food was cold and when ours arrived it was cold as well.

Overall a pleasant experience,though possibly becoming victim of its own success. Have visited several times before and would award top marks. This time cooked dinner could be hotter, time from ordering to receiving meal 40mins. Staff made aware and were courteous , and amended the situation. Definitely would return again .I presume one cannot get it right all the time!

Pleasant meal over Sunday lunchtime with family members. Staff attentive to start with but took a long time to get service towards the end of the meal. Food good but not outstanding.
