Great ambience with super fresh appetizer selection at the semi buffet station. Good value for money with the overall experience. Would definitely go back again.

Food was wonderful and the service attentive. The decor along with the scent from the grill made for a pleasant ambience. Certain dishes like the calamari could have used more salt.

Went there for dinner, very friendly and prompt service. Food was good, though fries had a strange smoky taste that did not go down well with us. But the atmosphere and service distinguished this for us from other places, we will definitely go back for a date night!

Great atmosphere and amazing service. Presentation of the food was great, be really enjoyed the fish and the meat and some tapas at the beginning for share. Will come back.

We had lunch and the quality of food was average, We had 3 mains: broken eggs and chorizo, Octopus and baby back ribs. Out of the 3, the octopus was tasty. The rest was either raw or dry. We arrived late at 130pm and the buffet table no longer replenished. Service was very good though.

Super Spanish brunch. A generous range of salads, meats, montaditos are available as a semi-buffet but save room for the shared tapas of jamon, huevos rotos, croquettas, personal main course (i had arroz marisco) and lovely choice of desserts. Amazing value, with or without the free flow wines.

The best Spanish restaurant in Wanchai: good quality food, great wines, nice atmosphere. Booked in advanced is compulsory. We will come back again for sure!

great happy hour price, good bar food and nice decor. we had a nice table on the ground floor facing the street which was great.

I enjoyed the atmosphere at The Optimist - subdued lighting, not very noisy, great smoky smell from their grill and fairly attentive service. I had a few small dishes with my friends -the Ham croquettes, the Broken eggs, the Calamari, the Tuna tartar - which I found very tasty, very well executed. The deserts were nice too - my favourite was the charcoal grilled pineapple ("La pina") which came with delicious coconut ice cream. I understand that the charcoal grilled meat dishes are their signature - I haven't had the chance to taste them on this occasion but I hope I will do so in the future. I simply loved their cocktails (we didn't even look at the wine list) and tried 4 or 5 between us. My favourite was the "Spritz Me Up" - a mix of Aperol and prosecco with lime juice, coconut and vermouth - really refreshing during summer time. I would love to go back.

There was so much food, it was great value for the price. They also took a Polaroid of our group and put it in a birthday card which was a lovely touch. The only feedback we have is that there need to be more vegetarian options on the menu.

Food was great - the porker skewer and the broken eggs are both a must-order! love the vibe too and the service was very attentive.

Been here for dinner several times and it is the first time for lunch. Overall service and quanlity of the food is as good as for dinner. Definitely will drop by for lunch again

First of all, it is located at crowded Wan Chai. Secondly, it has a great cocktail menu and the happy hour drinks are at good price. Most importantly, the food and service are great.

Excellent menu and service was brisk but unobtrusive. The portions were reasonable and all food was very tasty. An excellent Spanish restaurant with some great dishes. Octopus was tender and delicious, grilled peppers and ham with broken eggs a winner!

Helpful, informed service & great dishes meant our meal at the Optimist was really enjoyable. Particularly enjoyed the Chateaubriand and egg plant fries. Everything is good for sharing. Wide choice of wine.

Dinner was excellent and nice mix of dishes. Pacing was a bit slow but service was lovely. Good cocktails and the whole sole was delicious.

Second time here and the food is just as amazing. The service and ambience is one of the more memorable ones I have in hk. A lot of places charge you the premium but never live up to that standard. Optimist is very enjoyable.

Overall is good. Food is good. My friend is American and he loves the burger and milk shake here. Service isn't bad but still have room of improvement. This place is good for any kind of gathering, family, friends and couple.

Great food, better service! They served the different dishes at a great pace so we would not have too much food on the table, but it would never be empty either. They really have genuine Spanish dishes!

Everything about Optimist works. Good Location and the lunch menu is bar far best in the area. The buffet was so good I was almost full just from that. The selection of lunches at different prices caters to most for affordable but classy lunch.

Food was excellent. The braised short ribs are a must-order! Servers very attentive. Very well-made cocktails. Good ambiance. Price was on the high side but it's worth it.

Been here a few times with various groups of friends. It's always a fun place to come with good food and wine. Bring your appetite!

This is my second time to be here, the service is excellent and the food is delicious. We will be back again with our friends.

Food overall was very good as well as the service, but we found the tables too small and tight for a party of 10 and for the platters that they serve. Thankfully, they decided to add another small table to loosen the seating arrangement. Lively ambiance, good music with volume just right to keep the conversation going around the table. We loved the starters and the desserts!

Great ambience and extremely good food. We we early so had a drink at the bar. They sure do great cocktails and do not skim on the liquors. Staff was happy to move us to out table upstairs soon as our table is ready. Food was fantastic, the octopus was slightly overcooked but the seasoning/spicing was perfect. Flat iron steak was done to perfection. Will definitely be back to try other dishes on the menu. If only the waiter/waitress can be more attentive...you really need to wave like crazy to get their attention.

We sat on the 2nd level between 1 to 2pm, the room is so noisy and it is hard to talk. They need to do something to the acoustic to create a nicer atmosphere.

Great food and good value for money for the lunch set! The salad buffet has plenty of selection and the main dish is decent size. Will definitely come back!

As usual, nice people, warm decor and good food for a really reasonable price. But they didn't give me the table next to the window.

Mother's birthday. Brilliant as always. Nice atmosphere and good food. Raw tartar had been my favourite here. The flat iron steak was perfectly cooked and tender with a hint of smoky flavour. A lovely meal:)

Very attentive service even it was full house. There was some problem with the reservation but the professionalism from the waitress changed this minor mistake. Food was good as always & definitely will come again.

Shame that we had the table for two hours, if I would have know I book somewhere for a Brithday celebration. That problem of booking on line. But the restaurant is beautiful and food lovely.

The atmosphere around happy hour is electric and fun with well priced drinks. The service in the restaurant was exceptional and the food quality superb. The wine list was reasonably priced with a varied range. A great night overall.

We had one of the bench seats, it was a little cramp for 3 people, difficult to get in and out. Otherwise, food was delicious and value of money. Service was excellent.

It was my birthday dinner and we all had a good time there. It was a pity that the restaurant did not have a table fitted 10 people. The distance between us all made communication problems. However, the food is just good and we all enjoyed ourselves in this Spanish restaurant.

Food was impressive as always, service was just so-so this time. Long waiting time for food to be served and for the bill. Would expect more attentive and friendly service in the next visit.

Service was really lacking, food was mediocre and definetly not worth the price, the music in there was too loud and made it difficult to have a conversation. Overall a disappointing visit.

We went for a very special birthday as a small group of three. The staff were attentive and very helpful in making it a great night. The pre dinner cocktails were creative and delicious, the menu variety was excellent and the food is devine.
