Warm and cosy pub with good beer! The early bird menu is great value. Service was good and we enjoyed our first meal there. Definitely be back
Ordered a pint of lager. No lager. All gone after bank holiday weekend!!! Gastropub -a joke. Table for 2 booked. Sitting in the middle of the room surrounded by noisy tables of 8. Not my idea of ambience. We did not stay but paid for our drinks and moved on.
The food itself was nice but portions were a bit on small side. Service was slow - 10 minutes for a round of drinks to arrive.
The service was not up to the usual standard, we had to keep reminding the waitress to bring our order. The food was good but could have done with being a bit hotter.
My wife and I dined early evening on Saturday 22nd October, and as usual the food, wine and service were excellent. Our starters arrived promptly, and the monkfish scampi which we both selected for main course was tasty, substantial and well-cooked. Although the restaurant and bar were busy, we were under no pressure to vacate the table, having asked when it was required, and we both really enjoyed the occasion, and will be returning.
Great food, and the staff were lovely. The restaurant was freezing though, until they moved us closer to the log fire! (It was Monday lunchtime though, so maybe with more customers in it would warm up!) Would recommend.
Lovely restaurant excellent food and service. Sunday is really busy buzzing environment .....cocktails amazing youve gòt to try the french martini ....evening was very enjoyable
We were offered fennel soup that turned out to be tomato we ordered extra roast potatoes against the advice of the waitress and there were only 3! We waited a long time to be served and the restaurant was cold. A nice setting though and pleasant staff.
terrible sunday lunch food was cold after complaining nothing was done in the end they gave us a 10% discount what a insult i wouldnt go back to this place would advise anybody to give it a miss
Food was amazing, perfect portion sizes and great service. Atmosphere and decor of the place was also amazing, will definitely be returning for another visit.
Took my parents for Sunday lunch the service was ok but the meat was fatty and tough, roast potatoes tasted like they had been warmed up. Dessert was good. Disappointing all round.
the best sunday lunch ever, service was fantastic, look forward to going back soon. We eat out a lot especially on a sunday, the munro will take some beating.
We recently visited the Munro for lunch and had a lovely afternoon. The food was good, the staff were friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere. They did need us to vacate our table for early evening diners but we were not made to feel rushed and we moved into the bar and stayed for another drink. We will be returning.
Great small venue, good atmosphere and a wonderful varied menu that changes regularly.More suited to adults than children.A lovely small garden at the backWould wholeheartedly recommend .
The food was excellent, the new menu is very good. The service was a bit slow, a bottle of wine ordered to start before the meal, had to chase this up, the same with a glass of lager ordered with the meal again had to chase up but generously this glass was taken off the meal. It's the small details like this that people remember. This would not stop us visiting again.
The food was good, the environment was also very good, the only issue was the situation of our table, too near the bar and therefore noisy. As there was only two of us it was difficult to talk, if we had been a larger group the noise level may not have mattered as much. Would prefer to sit it the other room next time, but will be back on the 12th November with some family members - looking forward to that.
We had 3 nibbles each and this day they had a promotion, you got a huge gin and tonic free if you had 3 nibbles, food was delightful, the gin delicious and the staff excellent.
The monro is a lovely pub with great food and atmosphere
Booked The Monro for Saturday night dinner with friends...it was fab! Staff were lovely and attentive and the food was delicious, even for a fussy vegetarian! The only slight negative was that we were a wee bit chilly being against the window. Will definitely be back
Absolutely delicious, my first ever sunday roast and I think we made the right choice. Exceeded my expectations which were high already. The cocktails are great too and the staff were all very friendly.
Had a great night fab food and fab staff great value would go back in a flash all my friends had a great night out
Disappointed with the lunchtime menu. Only 3 main options one of which ( the pie ) was off and would have been selected by 2 of the party of 4. None of the 3 starters were appealing. However what we had was good and the service friendly. Not sure whether we would go for lunch again. May try an evening a la carte.
Went for lunch - had fish & chips for around £10 which was a really good portion size (Ordered Medium) glad did not order Large would have been far too much. Only downside was went to Monroe as saw a lunch time deal on line which we were informed was no longer available but was still being advertised online.
Great food and great staff....very good beer and cocktail choice so a perfect option for your Sunday Roast........................New menu has arrived so looking forward to having a try.....
Couldn't fault the food it was outstanding and the service was excellent too . The only fault I could find was the restaurant itself looks a bit tired and in need of s spruce up
Very good Sunday lunch with good choice of vegetables. Very good service and staff were all eager to please. The Munro is without music and television which is great.
Service was brilliant and staff were so friendly. Wasn't too keen on the new menu though was a little bit too posh and not much variety like the old one.
Excellent food, great service in comfortable surrounds and very reasonable prices, would highly recommend and hope that I am able to return for another meal.
Great Sunday lunch plenty of meat, veg well cooked staff very friendly and helpful good range of beers and wines looking forward to new chef settling in.
Nice location and easy to find. The food was amazing and we do enjoy it, but the waiting time took an hour, the waitress came in and apologised for the late but overall is nice
Nice place and well decorated, food and staff a little slow. Having booked this place based on how good in the past the Sunday roast reviews were I told the party we should be in for a treat. The beef was nice enough as was the yorkshire but the vege were undercooked and mostly inedible and the roasties were undercooked and aunt Bessie style tasteless. So, so disappointing and gutted i persuaded my friends to dine here for a birthday meal. Bland, undercooked and overrated.
Excellent. Will call again when we visit Liverpool. Friendly staff. Good choices on the menu. The nibbles is a great idea. Sad we didn't receive our free starter voucher before our visit though.
Staff friendly food superb a steal at £20 pp inc. bt. of wine each this is the place to be on a Monday eve.do yourself a favour, be there
We went for Sunday lunch. The roast was a choice of beef or lamb with nut roast as the veggie option. The lamb was a little too rare for one of our party and not easy to cut, we asked for sharp knives to help us. Overall it was an OK experience.
Fabulous food fabulous friendly helpful staff .Lovely atmosphere . Meals all arrived hot and together. Lots of alternatives when they ran out of a certain dessert .
Food and service excellent as usual, just wish they would put the full alcarte menu back on. Visited for my partners birthday and both of us really enjoyed it
Been before and will go again. Excellent food, lovely staff.the evening was a little bit spoiled by a group of very loud ladies, but that is not the fault of The Monro.
Excellent food and service. The original menu was better however. The tables soon filled up after six o'clock. The bar side of the restaurant was very noisy. Voucher did not arrive on time so take a copy of the booking with you.
Great service and Gorgeous food. Fab all round experience. We tried the wine club. I would highly recommend this pub and look forward to my next visit.
Lovely friendly service and atmosphere. We went for the Monday wine club which is two courses plus a bottle of wine per person at £20 per head. We were also offered a pudding at no extra charge but we were stuffed! Really good value, no 'sniffiness' about taking home any wine you might not have managed and good quality ingredients. 'Textured beetroot with whipped goats cheese' was delightful, different tastes with each bite and gin cured salmon re-ignited my taste for cured fish (which I had gone off) lovely soft slices, and plenty of them, were set off by a fantastic 'blood orange ketchup'. Haven't been to The Monro for a while but booked in for their Gin Lovers' Garden party whilst there. My only disappointment was that the dish I particularly fancied for my main had sold out.
Nice experience For award winning gastro I think bread should be provided and wine and water pored. Wine was actually forgotten about. Nice but just not very personal. Food was tasty. Chips with steak undercooked Too much mustard in cabbage with chicken.
This is only my second time eating here. The food is good but there is a couple of areas they could improve. Our table felt a bit sticky so I politely asked if it could be wiped down. I work in retail so know how annoying customers can be. The server wiped the table with a cloth that was black with dirt. No attempt was made to give it a spray with the table cleaner she was holding in her hand. So after the table was still sticky plus she looked annoyed at me asking her to do so. The food was good apart from the black hair that was on the edge of one of the starter plates . So i recommend having a clean cloth the beginning of every service and checking the plates before they leave the kitchen .
Made a booking for my wife's birthday and took advantage of the loyalty scheme (free bottle of prosecco). Wonderfull meal excellent surroundings and knowledgeable staff.
Really clean establishment wine cocktails all excellent good experience staff very pleasant food served got and very tasty will be back for more very good
Excellent food and service in lovely surroundings. Staff attentive and welcoming, our meals were all delicious and beautifully plated. Will return again very soon! #highlyrecommended
We spent a lovely evening celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary , the food was fantastic and the staff were so attentive and friendly. We had had our engagement party there 44 yrs ago , what a difference in surroundings , it is now a beautiful gastro pub not your old fashioned pub anymore.
The food at The Monro is absolutely fresh and delicious. Nice vegetarian options too. All three of us enjoyed our meals and drinks, thank you.
Food was delicious, service was very good. Gin & tonic was gorgeous. Looking forward to going back. Sunday roast is definitely worth the money. Smoked salmon was lovely, beef very tasty served with fresh vegetables and proper homemade Yorkshire puddings.
Limited menu & some of the food was very bland. The staff were very nice and prices are very reasonable. Very apologetic over bland food.
Very stylish place to eat with a great deal of specialty drinks to choose from.Cannot thank the staff enough for making us feel so welcome.
