Warm and cosy pub with good beer! The early bird menu is great value. Service was good and we enjoyed our first meal there. Definitely be back

Ordered a pint of lager. No lager. All gone after bank holiday weekend!!! Gastropub -a joke. Table for 2 booked. Sitting in the middle of the room surrounded by noisy tables of 8. Not my idea of ambience. We did not stay but paid for our drinks and moved on.

The food itself was nice but portions were a bit on small side. Service was slow - 10 minutes for a round of drinks to arrive.

The service was not up to the usual standard, we had to keep reminding the waitress to bring our order. The food was good but could have done with being a bit hotter.

My wife and I dined early evening on Saturday 22nd October, and as usual the food, wine and service were excellent. Our starters arrived promptly, and the monkfish scampi which we both selected for main course was tasty, substantial and well-cooked. Although the restaurant and bar were busy, we were under no pressure to vacate the table, having asked when it was required, and we both really enjoyed the occasion, and will be returning.

Great food, and the staff were lovely. The restaurant was freezing though, until they moved us closer to the log fire! (It was Monday lunchtime though, so maybe with more customers in it would warm up!) Would recommend.

We were offered fennel soup that turned out to be tomato we ordered extra roast potatoes against the advice of the waitress and there were only 3! We waited a long time to be served and the restaurant was cold. A nice setting though and pleasant staff.

Took my parents for Sunday lunch the service was ok but the meat was fatty and tough, roast potatoes tasted like they had been warmed up. Dessert was good. Disappointing all round.

We recently visited the Munro for lunch and had a lovely afternoon. The food was good, the staff were friendly and the place has a lovely atmosphere. They did need us to vacate our table for early evening diners but we were not made to feel rushed and we moved into the bar and stayed for another drink. We will be returning.

The food was excellent, the new menu is very good. The service was a bit slow, a bottle of wine ordered to start before the meal, had to chase this up, the same with a glass of lager ordered with the meal again had to chase up but generously this glass was taken off the meal. It's the small details like this that people remember. This would not stop us visiting again.

The food was good, the environment was also very good, the only issue was the situation of our table, too near the bar and therefore noisy. As there was only two of us it was difficult to talk, if we had been a larger group the noise level may not have mattered as much. Would prefer to sit it the other room next time, but will be back on the 12th November with some family members - looking forward to that.

Booked The Monro for Saturday night dinner with friends...it was fab! Staff were lovely and attentive and the food was delicious, even for a fussy vegetarian! The only slight negative was that we were a wee bit chilly being against the window. Will definitely be back

Disappointed with the lunchtime menu. Only 3 main options one of which ( the pie ) was off and would have been selected by 2 of the party of 4. None of the 3 starters were appealing. However what we had was good and the service friendly. Not sure whether we would go for lunch again. May try an evening a la carte.

Went for lunch - had fish & chips for around £10 which was a really good portion size (Ordered Medium) glad did not order Large would have been far too much. Only downside was went to Monroe as saw a lunch time deal on line which we were informed was no longer available but was still being advertised online.

Nice place and well decorated, food and staff a little slow. Having booked this place based on how good in the past the Sunday roast reviews were I told the party we should be in for a treat. The beef was nice enough as was the yorkshire but the vege were undercooked and mostly inedible and the roasties were undercooked and aunt Bessie style tasteless. So, so disappointing and gutted i persuaded my friends to dine here for a birthday meal. Bland, undercooked and overrated.

We went for Sunday lunch. The roast was a choice of beef or lamb with nut roast as the veggie option. The lamb was a little too rare for one of our party and not easy to cut, we asked for sharp knives to help us. Overall it was an OK experience.

Excellent food and service. The original menu was better however. The tables soon filled up after six o'clock. The bar side of the restaurant was very noisy. Voucher did not arrive on time so take a copy of the booking with you.

Lovely friendly service and atmosphere. We went for the Monday wine club which is two courses plus a bottle of wine per person at £20 per head. We were also offered a pudding at no extra charge but we were stuffed! Really good value, no 'sniffiness' about taking home any wine you might not have managed and good quality ingredients. 'Textured beetroot with whipped goats cheese' was delightful, different tastes with each bite and gin cured salmon re-ignited my taste for cured fish (which I had gone off) lovely soft slices, and plenty of them, were set off by a fantastic 'blood orange ketchup'. Haven't been to The Monro for a while but booked in for their Gin Lovers' Garden party whilst there. My only disappointment was that the dish I particularly fancied for my main had sold out.

Nice experience For award winning gastro I think bread should be provided and wine and water pored. Wine was actually forgotten about. Nice but just not very personal. Food was tasty. Chips with steak undercooked Too much mustard in cabbage with chicken.

This is only my second time eating here. The food is good but there is a couple of areas they could improve. Our table felt a bit sticky so I politely asked if it could be wiped down. I work in retail so know how annoying customers can be. The server wiped the table with a cloth that was black with dirt. No attempt was made to give it a spray with the table cleaner she was holding in her hand. So after the table was still sticky plus she looked annoyed at me asking her to do so. The food was good apart from the black hair that was on the edge of one of the starter plates . So i recommend having a clean cloth the beginning of every service and checking the plates before they leave the kitchen .
