The Marmion tavern provides excellent food and the staff were friendly and attentive. Good for vegetarians with a specific menu section for them. ( a couple of vegan options)
The food, drinks and service was superb as always, however due to the increase in the music volume, all conversation had to be much louder, rather tiresome for our friends and my wife and I
The food was pretty good although chips were a bit soggy. Steak was lovely. Staff very helpful, friendly and attentive. A bit of a dodgy smell in the pub/restaurant that seemed to emanate from toilets.
Great food, great service, great experience. Waitress was very helpful and friendly. This was our first visit to the Marmion and we will definitely be back, thank you
Well, it’s no wonder the Marmion gets such great reviews having sampled their fayre tonight I can only but agree. We booked a table on line and went straight to the table after ordering drinks about 5:30 PM, nice atmosphere and an ideal setting for a restaurant in a busy, social pub. The girl who served us was very helpful and friendly, difficult when you are the only one front of house, we just got there before the evening staff arrived, so no complaints. I Initially thought it funny there were no starters (trust me, you would struggle to get through mains course with their portion sizes), just olives and bread – bit more than that, bread with salsa dip, bowl of olives, bowl of red peppers with soft cheese and balsamic vinegar dip for the warm bread, lovely and filling which is why our eyes were bigger than our tummies. Mrs B had nachos with cheese and chicken with bowls of sour cream, guacamole and salsa plus jalapeno chillies, quite fiery but very nice. I had battered cod with humungous chips, mushy pea bowl and tarte sauce (all sauces chef prepared). What a gorgeous fish, so fresh too in a thin batter and a large piece too, as good or better than any fish & chip shop. We both went for the GF lemon cheesecake, wowsers, this took the experience to a new level, it was beautiful in every way, artistic presentation with a nice strawberry & a couple of raspberries’, little bowl of sorbet to balance what I can only describe as handmade lemon curd taste to die for and a sumptious cheesecake on a light fluffy base of biscuit. At this point, there was no room for an espresso, I /we were done, you know that over-eaten feeling after a blowout Sunday roast, that feeling… To conclude, you better be hungry
Good atmosphere, great place to eat out with friends! Had an absolutely wonderful waitress, wish I'd taken her name. Thanks for a great evening. See you soon again.
Food was simply amazing - so much food, so much choice for non meat eaters and reasonably priced. Felt very welcome and will definitely come again.
Very friendly staff and good food, the scallops & pork belly was very good. I thoroughly recommend visiting the Marmion for a quality meal in a relaxed bar atmosphere.
Lovely food and friendly staff. We will definitely be back there to sample more of their delicious food, and maybe the odd Gin cocktail or two
Easy online booking , food was fabulous , service was superb . Throughly enjoyed our meal , great atmosphere . A little gem of a place and would highly recommend.! We will be returning ! 🥋👍🏻🍸❤️
The food was delicious the experience was made even better by our a lovely waitress. We didn't feel rushed and had a great catch up.
Excellent food/service top marks. This place is truely worth a visit. The platters are good value for money and the belly pork with scallops are amazing
Excellent food and service would highly recommend this local pub. We had the fillet steak and wine, really lovely evening with fresh produce and a great atmosphere.
I went on New Years Eve to the Marmion Bar, we had reserved a table for two people. We got there on time, and the restaurant was fairly busy we were seated, and ordered our meal after a wait we were served with an excellent and quality plate of food. Thank you to staff.
Really accommodating and friendly. Lovely food. Booked a table at short notice and we even turned up a tad late and they still sat us down and we're very attentive. The food was really delicious
Nice food but too loud inside , food also took 30 minutes but understandable for a Saturday night . Enjoyable night anyway . Will be returning
The food was amazing, while the menu isn't huge there's plenty to choose from. The staff were attentive without being intrusive. The atmosphere was relaxing. Couldn't ask for anything more.
Relaxed but attentive service in this pleasant pub/restaurant. The menu is very good although it has not changed for quite a long time, the food was fresh and tasty. We had a very pleasant time meeting up with friends for supper.
Food is always very good here and today was no exception... 5 stars as usual ... try the sweet potato chips and the doorstop chips are the best around
The service and food in the Marmion is great but it is extremely loud - however it was Victorious weekend so some people were stocking up on beer! Overall, we love the Marmion.
A good relaxed meal (above average in quality) but nothing to write home about. I like to have a starter - there are no starters on offer just bread while you wait which is okay if you're into olives and that sort of thing. I liked it but my partner wasn't so keen.
