The Malt Shovel - Brearton, Harrogate

We have always loved the Malt shovel. The service was excellent and staff super lovely! However although the food tasted good & the beef was cooked to perfection, the vegetables were massively overcooked, tasty but soggy!

A very pleasant evening with excellent food and nice surroundings. It's a shame that they don't allow an area for people with dogs after all they say they're a walking pub.

Fresh food perfectly cooked and presented, service was second to none. The setting is rustic and true to the village pub. When next in the area will certainly revisit.

Although extremely busy on Mother’s Day the food was still excellent and beautifully presented and the service was exceptional!

Good greeting. Didn’t have long to wait before being served our starters. The main course was well worth waiting for. The presentation and food were terrific. When we had finished we were not rushed. Well done.

Excellent quality food with friendly service. Varied menu with several gluten free options. In addition to the regular menu items there is a specials board with several more starter and main course options. Several hand-pulled beers on offer. The one I had was in top condition.

The Inn is very comfortable 'olde world' with very welcoming staff and management. Food is lovely. Only gripe I would have is that the wait between starter and main course can sometimes be a long time - such that you have worked your way through a bottle of wine and have none left! But I will still re-visit.

Lovely Yorkshire pub in small pretty village with very welcoming hosts. Great food, well-presented and good value. Cajun fish was a favourite as was lemon posset.

I had the venison and it was just perfectly cooked, absolutely delicious. My husband had the fish and chips and likewise it was just perfect. Friendly, welcoming staff and lovely roaring fires.

Delicious lunch - goats cheese parcels and my fellow dinner had blue cheese& pear salad with new potatoes. Great friendly service. On a wet cold day the fires were welcome too.
