The Jolly Ristorante

We arrived for a 7.00pm booking. The restaurant was packed solid, and the noise level was on a higher decibel range. What Jolly’s has is an authentic Italian restaurant atmosphere. The service is friendly, and relaxed, the food is flavoursome. If what you want from your dining experience is a homogeneous, banal franchised, restaurant experience, don’t book Jolly’s. If you want an authentic, Italian,family based,Italian experience then this is the restaurant to book while in Edinburgh

Would have liked a little more inter action between staff and myself. Other than that food was good, quick service and good atmosphere.

Having moved away from Edinburgh 20 odd years ago, I always had fond memories of this restaurant. It was a wee treat for me when my parents took me to The Jolly when I was a child. The food was amazing and the place looked just like how I remembered. I even got a lollipop at the end! I highly recommend this restaurant. Great value, great food, friendly atmosphere.

The owner was really nice and was constantly monitoring everything that was happening. He joined in with his staff to do everything and made sure that people were enjoying their food and enjoying themselves. He really impressed me and my husband.

When we arrived the place was really busy and I think they may have gave our table away the greeter was very rude and started making a show of me when I said we had booked a table for seven for four people he was very nasty and said you said seven people the conversation went down hill from there and we left would never go back

Although the interior is a bit dated please do not let this put you off as the food is excellent value for money and the staff are so friendly. Definitely worth a visit.

We were impressed with the food, the staff and above all, the owner, Vito! The first time we visited, we didn't have reservations, but despite the fact that the restaurant was extremely busy, they made a place to accommodate us. Based on that first visit, we made reservations and returned for another meal. We would gladly visit again if or when we return to Edinburgh.

As always a great night at Jolly Restaurant. Such a good menu and great tasting dishes. Was very busy tonight so the staff were kept on their toes, but always had service with a smile. just as well we booked a Table as it was packed! Will come again. One of the best restaurants on Edinburgh for sure!

excellent value for money Restaurant in EDinburgh town centre nothing to much trouble for them and the three course meal for £6.95 is the best in town

I hadn't been to the jolly since the mid 90s and I must say the food was as good as I remember it being, delicious! Great portions and very good value even still. We were having a pre theatre meal. The place was stowed out which of course meant service was a little slow. But it is Christmas time so to be expected. Would definitely go back again though. Best Italian in Edinburgh.

Really enjoyed our meal at the Jolly after an afternoon at the Playhouse. A great variety of meals on the menu which was very reasonably priced.
