Great food, a lovely atmosphere and really good service. Thanks
Warm, cosy pub. Great food. Friendly staff. Will keep visiting when we're in the area.
Return visit after a few years away for a Saturday night celebration. Lovely atmosphere, very friendly & attentive staff, great food. Highly recommended and looking forward to our next visit.
We both had fish and chops which is normally excellent. This time my fish was a bit overcooked and rubber. Very unusual. My husband's fish was fine
Lovely food, lovely ambience, lovely staff. Would definitely dine here again.
We had a lovely meal, all the staff were great and very pleasant. It was Burns night so we were hoping there would be haggis. We weren't disappointed! Everything was brilliant 😃
Very friendly and welcoming staff. Great atmosphere with diners sharing experiences of places to visit. Food was prompt and delicious with a variety of choice. A great evening.
The food and service were excellent. Everyone in our group thoroughly enjoyed their choice of dishes. Good sized portions. Lovely relaxed atmosphere. We will certainly return and recommend to friends.
Warm and cosy environment. Quick and polite service. Tasty hot meal. Would recommend to anyone.
Lunch, coronation sandwich and fish and chips of the highest quality
Lovely food , nice and warm friendly staff, clean and tidy
Really gorgeous pub with amazing food. We would have scored it higher but the experience was extremely rushed. We hadn’t even taken our coats off before we were asked what drink we wanted without being given a chance to look at the menu. Within seconds someone came to take our food order and we had not had chance to fully read the menu. The starters were out within a few minutes and literally as soon as I’d put my soup spoon down, our plates/dishes were taken away. Unbelievably the mains were brought out immediately after the starter. We all like efficient service but we felt the staff were watching over us which felt a little uncomfortable. If the service could be relaxed slightly then the overall experience would be amazing as the food is outstanding.
Excellent quality of all the food , and very attentive service We both enjoyed Sunday roast dinner , but the enormous portion sizes were surprising and somewhat intimidating to people who like to minimise waste and leave clean plates .Perhaps a reduction in portion size of 40 or 50 percent would ease apprehension , particularly for those with smaller appetites. Kind regards Keith.
Warm and friendly service. The food was very good and tasty. Hearty meals which was needed after a long day of walking in the hills. I would definitely recommend booking a meal here you won’t be disappointed.
Great choice of food and exceptional service. Not too pricey either.
Overall a very good experience. 4 very lovely meals and great value
Fantastic place for a drink and food. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent.
The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was delicious. This pub is very dog friendly.
Lovely food and great staff. Would recommend . Thank you
Food was delicious and staff were friendly and attentive, as they always have been when we have visited.
Very good service and pleasant food, just a shame that there wasn't a vegan dessert whilst there was a good choice of meals.
Brilliant food, drink and brilliant service will dine again here soon.
Good food as always although had to ask to order dessert, then had to ask again to receive dessert as they thought we’d been served.
Good service, music pleasant and not too loud, food quality great. Very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere
Lovely food, also great in adding a additional person on my booking at short notice
Lovely cosy pub serving amazing food. Well worth a visit.
We have been several times always very good but unfortunately this time it was unpleasant. Unfortunately I will think twice before coming again which is a pity !
Had a fabulous New Year’s Eve lunch. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The food is excellent. Can’t fault anything. Looking forward to going back soon.
Lovely and quick food polite staff very friendly certainly recommend
Fantastic pub with lovely atmosphere. We had a Sunday lunch and while it was lovely, there was too much pepper in the gravy for my liking. Hubby liked it as he likes pepper on his food but I don't, so would have preferred to be able to add your own to taste rather than added during cooking. That said we would go back, I just wouldn't order the Sunday lunch.
A lovely friendly welcome after a long journey in atrocious weather. Just what we needed- good Cumbrian welcome in archetypal inn. Food choice was wide and we enjoyed our lunch very much. Need a bigger car park though!
Great facilities, splendid portion, so much I had no room for dessert. Fabulous staff & outstanding service. 👍👍👍
Great staff / ambience / menu. Delighted to be back again for our annual NY Lakes holiday!
The team and food was just amazing! It was the first time our group had ever stayed away for Christmas and we are so glad we chose to have our Christmas dinner here!! The atmosphere was perfect, the food was delicious and the staff were rushed off their feet but still happy 😊 Lizzie was brilliant throughout the booking process, and we would like to thank her and the whole of the team at the Horse And Farrier a merry Christmas and a happy new year!! We will definitely recommend you and will be returning. Thank you once again Andy Bradley, Julia, Eric & Lee
The food was so nice 👌💙 we will be back
Excellent service. Great quality food. Will definitely be back again.
The food was tasty and good value. Nice relaxed atmosphere.
Pub rather cold inside. Starters and mains fine but we complained about the Eaton Mess - no discount or apology
Friendly staff, filling main course, good coffees, cozy lunch seating.
Lovely evening meal and great service from the staff. Great breakfast.
Fabulous food, very welcoming, service great. Not our first time and won’t be our last
Booking system worked very well, we were taken to our table on arrival with no waiting!
Lovely food and lots of it! Amazing atmosphere and lovely staff.
Very Dog Friendly. Met our expectations. Would recommend and shall go again.
Can always rely on good service and excellent food at horse and farrier
Great atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff and good food! 🙂
On arriving at The Horse and Farrier, we received a genuinely warm welcome from the staff and were shown to our table, where we were looked after very well. We tried some of the local beers and ordered a meal. The food was amazing - well cooked, well presented, nice large portions and very, very tasty and filling (Cumberland Curl and Chicken Ballotine). We finished our meal by sharing a Farrier's Eton Mess and enjoying another local beer. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening at The Horse and Farrier and would highly recommend it.
A lovely Sunday dinner as always, really great busy atmopshere and food out of this world. Our sausage dog also enjoys the fuss, doggie sausage and sitting by the fire. Team members friendly and always offer a smile. We always make a visit when over at Keswick. Thanks again and see you all in 2024.
