I could not have had a better 80th birthday meal with friends
Booked a window table with room for 2 large dogs & got exactly that. Fast efficient service
We were so impressed! The service was very fast and the food was amazing. We would highly recommend this pub!
We booked for 530 but arrived early. They were very helpful in bringing our table forward. Food was delicious and good value. Would highly recommend.
We normally visit the Horse and Farrier for Sunday Lunch, which is hands down the best Sunday lunch in the area. We have never eaten off of the normal menu, so tonight was a first. We all ordered a different dish and they all came out at the same time which was great. I had the Chicken ballotine and it was amazing. Really enjoyed it. We all enjoyed our meals and there was 5 empty plates which says it all. Desserts were great too. I just wish the drinks were a bit cheaper, however it is just a sign of the times as most places around are now similarly priced. The young lady who served us was really efficient and friendly. Sorry I cant remember her name. All the other staff were also really good. Thank you everyone, we will continue to recommend the Horse and farrier and will most certainly return.
Lovely old pub. Great food. Welcoming staff. We really enjoyed our evening.
Great food, lovely atmosphere, good service. Definitely worth a visit!
Good Sunday lunch plenty to eat , and service was good
We had a great meal, tables well spaced out and very helpful staff. Will definitely return.
This was our first visit, the place has a nice cosy atmosphere with friendly staff and good food. Only issue was the lights kept flickering on and off which is an issue for anyone that suffers from migraines or similar. The table next to us asked the waiter who said ‘they all do that’ but did unscrew a bulb next to the table to stop it flickering. If these were fixed it would have been excellent.
Pretty poor service and hardly the best food we’ve ever had.
Issues in the kitchen so limited menu. Also pub quiet with loads of tables, but we were stuck on the farthest table away from civilisation 🤔
Visited the Horse and Farrier many times but this visit left us disappointed . Previously the food impressed and was good value but this time was basic with frozen fries and not well presented. Will be looking elsewhere in the future .
A friendly cosy pub. Food quality is good, though we would have appreciated a better range of vegetarian options. Also proper pies should have pastry all round, not a stew with a pastry lid!
Had been previously and had the turkey sunday lunch which all of our party enjoyed. Returned yesterday and must admit we were both dissapointed with ours meals i had scampi and my partner had the steak pie. Both came with frozen chips i had a side of peas, slice of lemon and tartar sauce my partner had a side of mixed greens i feel for the price the meals are not value for money and a much nicer meal can be had elsewhere. Would return for sunday lunch but not a bar meal.
Lovely pub, great staff, good service, fantastic food. The clientele tend to be friendly too… especially the dogs!
Very good service and very good food would recommend 👍
Great with the dog, great food, great vibes. Server was friendly
Meal was good and cooked well. Only issue with service due to delays and mix ups with cutlery.
Really fabulous evening. The food, atmosphere and service made it a really special evening. Many thanks
Had to chase up and ask for the drinks to be served to the table. Food was fine but we were staggered that the chunky chips that we ordered as a side, cost £5.50. They weren't proper chips. Staff were all friendly. It was just pretty expensive.
Fast friendly service, staff very attentive 5star brilliant country pub
As good as ever at Horse and Farrier for family 4
Great food, lovely dining area and friendly staff. Highly recommend
Fantastic food, friendly staff and a good atmosphere . Highly recommend.
Lovely Sunday dinner .. although price has increased quite dramatically! Will have to be more of a treat now than a regular outing.
Good food and atmosphere, service at the table excellent. We really enjoyed our visit.
Lovely food and attentive service. We will be back soon
The only negative aspect of the meals was that the profiteroles were under whelming in that the dark chocolate sauce that the menu promised was not a sauce at all. It may once have been but it was both cold and solid. Should have been warm, melted and runny.
Sunday lunch great food and excellent service we will return
Nice friendly local pub - thanks for a lovely lunch
Very good food and service. Pleasant staff. Always a pleasure.
On a cold evening the pub was nice and warm. Service was friendly and efficient. The choice and quality of the cask ale was excellent.
My main course was great but my wife's chicken dish wasn't!
As usual great experience Service excellent Lovely dining location Food was great
Excellent food and service in lovely location. Top pub !
Nice amboence and staff but veg too undercooked for us and more stuffing than chicken in the Ballotine
Lovely staff, excellent service very friendly and quick service, looking forward to going back
Fabulous evening meal with the family. We live in Penrith and fancied a change - this pub is a real gem and we’ll be back soon!
Delicious meal and great service with helpful and friendly staff.
Excellent meal, the pub is lovely, staff are wonderful and the food was amazing!
Food very average. Unfortunately will not return… staff noise did not make for a relax dining experience. Several crockery/glass breakages by staff in both bar and kitchen, followed up by noisy clean up. Staff thought breakages were funny!!! adding to more noise.
Lovely pub and great food , our 2 dogs were fussed over and made very welcome
Medium quality lunch at a high price. Suggest families and young children should be seated in a separate area. The young lady who waited
As always, the experience was great, quite busy but we were looked after very well and all the meals arrived at the same time. there was a pleasant buzz of chat but not loud. it was really value for the money
As always, lovely warm, welcoming atmosphere. Superb service. My all time favourite place to eat in the Lakes. The food is exceptional, every mouthful an absolute delight. Thankyou.
What a great pub - very friendly staff. Great range of beers and a good menu whether you want a snack/sandwich or full meal. Wish this was our local
Excellent pub grub, portions big enough to satisfy anybody. Lovely staff and a really warm and homely environment
We had a wonderful first visit to The Horse and Farrier. All staff were very welcoming and attentive. The waiters/waitresses were very good and knew the menu, if not they went off to ask. This was great for me as I am a Coeliac and require gluten free food. Your range of gluten free food was wonderful and gave me a great choice. The building was amazing with all the nooks and crannies. We enjoy the old features of the old building. We will certainly be returning the next time we stay at Whitbarrrow Village. Kind regards Stephanie Daubney
Excellent meal and service. We have been for lunch many times and it has always been very good. .
