It was lovely food served by really friendly attentive staff. The refurbishment looks great. Love the fact that there are still plenty of dog friendly tables.
I have been the Horse and Farrier before with family and wanted to take my partner for his birthday and they did not disappoint!! The food is stunning and the staff are lovely and cannot do enough for you. Now that my partner has been, he’s said we’re not coming back to the lakes and not going to the Horse and Farrier - it’s becoming a tradition!!
Fantastic and friendly service and the food was divine! We had a variety of meals off the menu including the scallops (yum!), the lasagne, soup and steak, which was beautifully cooked. Very reasonably priced too. 6*
Great location, very welcoming and friendly. Our first visit in this area so was very pleased to find such a good place to eat. Food and service was excellent.
A great country pub, brilliant food and very friendly staff. They couldn’t have been more accommodating of us, a table of 12, and we would definitely go back.
This is a great pub; we had a lovely warm welcome from the team and enjoyed delicious fish and chips for lunch. It was a lovely spot to spend a wet afternoon. Thank you.
For a good led establishment I had hoped for more. The menu was a tad boring. Nothing bad but certainly not great. Decor is lovely. Would U revisit ? Maybe but not in a hurry sadly. Service was adhoc and it was if we were an issue to their tasks in hand.
Lovely relaxed atmosphere. Dog and baby were both made welcome. The staff are wonderful so friendly. The food is excellent, 2nd visit in our weeks holiday. Love the place.
Excellent service and food. The place has recently been refurbished. Very cosy and inviting. There was a mix-up over the bill but that was soon resolved. We will definitely go back.
Lovely meal, steak cooked well, huge piece of lamb and lovely pork belly. Ginger pudding was great too. Nice warm pub atmosphere, staff were atentative. Prices reasonable.
Fantastic visits to this awesome place as always. Traditional Family pub. Food exceptional, staff lovely service awesome. Thankyou as allways for the great service. We will definitely be returning.
The food was great the quality was high and the presentation was good. Staff were efficient and very pleasant nothing was too much for them. Would define go back
Fantastic food in an welcoming and relaxing environment. Staff were very friendly and helpful and I would recommend it to all of my friends and family.
Good menu choice and great tasting food, well presented and served in a timely fashion. Service was overall good and quality of ales was great. The pub is comfortable and clean. Looking forward to returning.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Nice menu for small or full meals at lunchtime and very smart refurbishment. Able to cater for gluten free. Lovely cake for pudding.
Warm an inviting atmosphere, very cosy and charming, a warm welcome from the start, food was great. The location is stunning. The menu was ideal, with locally sourced ingredients where possible. Can recommend the fish and chips and the Sunday leg of lamb roast Highly recommend
Great service, food and location we could not fault our meals and we will definitely go back in the future when we are back in the lakes.
The horse and farrier in threlkeld is the Best pub. The food is amazing and staff are fantastic the atmosphere is always great. Will be returning that is for sure ......
8 of us enjoyed a family meal. Lovely food -great service Great traditional pub with a warm welcoming atmosphere Will definitely go again and would recommend
Cosy setting and staff. The food is cooked to order and well worth waiting for. Everyone said it had been a wonderful evening and the food was great and plentiful.
Great and attentive staff, great choice of food on the menu and tastes great. Location is ideal and the atmosphere is in keeping with such an old and characteristic building.
Unfortunately I was very ill in the night with stomach ache, vomiting and diarrhoea following our visit to the Horse and Farrier. Clearly, either kitchen hygiene was very poor, or some of the food or ingredients were off.
Lovely place. Food is heavenly! Staff are very friendly and the atmosphere is just what you'd expect from a good country pub. Both the lamb and pork dish are exceptional.
This is a great pub and restaurant just outside of Keswick in a village named Threlkeld. We have dined here many times. The food s excellent always with great choices . The staff are very friendly. This team me we had the lamb shoulder. So tender and delicious.
Good location with ample car parking opposite. Very warm welcome as we came through the door. Good selection of food and excellent Sticky Toffee pudding!
Excellent food and service. Lovely cosy country pub restaurant and a good selection of beers. I would highly recommend this pub for a meal out.
Friendly welcome, great staff and lovely food. Good atmosphere and staff can’t do enough to ensure all your needs are catered for. One of the best pubs/ restaurants in the Lake District.
We have eaten there twice in the last week. The Sunday roast was the best I have had out. The meal on Wednesday was the sea bass parma ham and scallop. Absolutely fantastic
The food as always was delicious - both myself and my husband had the Sunday roast with rib of beef. The service was really good too.
We have B&B'd, feasted and imbibed at the H&F over many years. We have never been disappointed and have always returned for it is a pub with a perfect welcome. This time was for Sunday Lunch and everyone was more than satisfied. I may take this opportunity to apologise for our noisy enthusiasm but this is what happens when the well kept Jennings beers begin to flow. Cheers!
Good food and well attended to by the staff. Only downside was that we were a little bit squashed for table area (party of 7) and would have preferred a little more space. Bar was busy
Lovel pub, had lots of lovely meals here - yummy food - Sunday lunch was delicious! Staff were so helpful and friendly - will definitely return again soon!
Visited this pub/restaurant a couple of times and really enjoyed the experience... delicious food, very friendly staff and lovely atmosphere. We will definitely be going back!
The food was excellent. We ate there on 2 occasions, once for lunch and the following evening for dinner. All of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The go od was excellent. We would definitely visit there again.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We've eaten here regularly over recent years and always enjoyed our visits. Best to book in advance to avoid disappointment!
Excellent meal and superb service. I would highly recommend this pub. We will definitely be returning for another meal at some point. Menu choice is very good.
We had an excellent meal at the Horse and Farrier. We were made most welcome when we arrived and taken to our pre booked table. Our menus were given to us after we had ordered our drinks. The meals were chicken curry and fish and chips for mains followed by ginger sponge pudding and rhubarb and gooseberry crumble. All meals were served in a very reasonable time without them being served too quickly or too slowly. The food was excellent and the ambience of the pub excellent too. The staff were very polite and engaged in conversation very well. Thank you very much for a most enjoyable evening
Friendly Service and atmosphere, the food was well presented but not cheap. If staying overnight make sure you are booked into the main building and not in the annexe property across the road.
The food was very good and the staff were very friendly - keeping our 3 year old entertained every time they came to the table.
Warm welcome, but quality of food has deteriorated in recent months. Two of us ordered Spanish Paella - it was more a risotto than paella, sadly.
Friendly helpful staff. There is not a lot of choice on the menu but the food is good with interesting options such as the lamb dish.
I booked a table for lunch to have a meeting with colleagues driving up from Leeds. The food and service were excellent and the surroundings, inside and outside, were conducive to productive discussions. We were under no pressure to hurry and sat outside to finish our meeting. The Horse and Farrier is a great ambassador for Cumbria, both of my colleagues said they planned to come up with family and stay for a weekend. Thanks.
Excellent food. Excellent service. Would recommend it. We booked on the day and the staff were very friendly and helpful with our wine, beer and food selection
Brilliant food as always but service was a bit slow and the problem in the kitchen resulted in us waiting an hour between starters and mains.
booked on line for 8pm, table was made ready sooner, very friendly service and a good meal, i am happy to recommend to any of my friends
Traditional country pub. Good choice of dishes. Slow cooked pork was good, we also enjoyed our puddings, portions are big! The staff were all friendly. The bar area is dog friendly so that's handy if you're in the area walking or on holiday. Would eat there again.
A pleasant country inn, which served good food in convivial surroundings. Staff were friendly and efficient. Helpful when we mentioned a shellfish allergy. Good to be able to book online.
Very friendly, good choice of interesting food, good beers, nice atmosphere. Thank you. Good location for walking the northern fells and the northern part of the Hellvelyn ridge.
Very good choice of meals, well cooked and served, good and attentive staff. Third time we've dined here, we'll be back. Just a short diversion off the main A66 in the village.
Olde world pub,Very good ,excellent service, great food , although very busy on a bank holiday weekend still great service and food was lovely really enjoyable
