It was a bit unusual booking a table on my phone and not actually speaking to a person, however, it all worked well and our experience was really good. Ambience and service was lovely and the food was nice with good choice of dishes. Here are my very little gripes. Tomato sauce should be served in a bottle not teenie weenie pots that shout out we’re being tight and has nothing to do with food hygiene and, a pie has a pastry base, sides and a top not a bowl with a pastry lid! It’s only small and it’s probably me. We will be back, lovely. Thank you.
The food was amazing and it was a perfect place for a staff bonding session.
Lovely setting, food was a little bit bland and unexciting.
Locale molto accogliente, cucina di buon livello. Servizio veloce e molto gentile
Visited numerous times, always found food good, service quick and pleasant staff. We will continue to visit, God willing, in the years to come. Thank you.
Great , thank you. Nice atmosphere , good service .
The pub was quite traditional in it's appearance both inside and out, but in a good way. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The food was excellent.
Great attentive staff, food was lovely and great selection of beers.
Important to book for this popular pub and easy to see why. The service was excellent as was the food. Only gripe was price of a pint.
Great food and service always a pleasure to visit here
Lovely food, nice surroundings & attentive service, would definitely recommend
Lovely meal, sadly too much of it! Would have liked a pud but no room .
Lovely service, lovely setting and lovely food, would go again!
Easy to book a table online. Helpful staff. Food excellent though the Chilli was very hot.
Overall experience was excellent…have been before…will definitely go again…the H&F is my number one go to restaurant.

A great evening out - just the place to catch up with friends.
Wonderful old building with very friendly staff and reasonably priced, delicious meals.
Thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Hubby had lambs liver & I had chicken ballotine. Staff friendly.

Lekker eten, ook vegetarisch en goede service. Zeker de moeite waard.
Perfect place for a cozy dinner in this historic inn.
The service was great and the staff were very friendly. The food was tasty and portion sizes very big.
Delicious food and wonderful friendly service! Would recommend this pub.
A special occasion perfectly rounded off at The Horse and Farrier for an evening meal. Excellent all round.
Meal for two late reservation and what a find! My partner had the Calamari to start and the Scampi mains and I had the soup of the day and Curry of the day. Wow, so tasty, flavoursome, piping hot and amazingly fast service and all the staff were superb, thoroughly recommend and we will be back! Well done all
As usual, the food was good, the staff lovely and helpful, and the price was very reasonable. Altogether a happy experience.
The beef and lamb sunday dinner followed by sticky toffee pudding was awesone , the staff are amazing, definately worth the 5k walk

One of, if not the best meal I’ve had in the Lake District. All of our parties food was absolutely amazing, service was spot on and the pub is lovely. Could not recommend enough!!!!

Great food, good service and lovely Pub in a nice village
Just ok not many staff on but the ones on where good
Great pub with excellent food - a favourite when we're in the area
Lovely night out as usual 😀. Waiter with his dad jokes 😂😂
Absolutely fantastic Sunday roast dinner. Probably one of the best I've ever had. Only one slight criticism would be to use fresh strawberries in the Eton mess, because I had to take out 3 huge frozen ones as they didn't taste very nice (frozen strawberries have a weird texture and taste. Slimy and bitter). Apart from that one little niggle, everything was lovely and we might visit again before we leave to go back home.
Love it at the Horse & Farrier staff are so welcoming & the food was delicious
Good food and great service. Keith is an absolute legend.
Generally speaking it was a good experience with generous quantities at a good price. However, my main dish, liver ( great to see it in the menu) was over cooked which meant it was slightly too hard with no soft pink in the middle.
Nice meal and hot which is always a plus. Very pleasant staff.
Very good meal and excellent service, thank you. We stayed the night, small but nicely decorated room, comfortable bed, plentiful hot water, would definitely recommend.
Excellent food and service in a busy pub nothing to dislike.
