A very well run, organised and efficient pub with great, proper food. It was obvious that the chef had given a lot of thought to the menu. Service was impeccable throughout. We’d definitely eat there again.
We eat here once a year when we visit Threlkeld for the Mikron Theatre performance. We usually have the vegetarian curry but this year it was a disaster and we both had to leave a substantial amount of the food. It was far to hot a meal, even for a curry. That is our only grumble.
Lovely menu with a good choice of Specials. Very good value Staff were very friendly and helpful, service very efficient and lovely atmosphere. Enjoyed it so much we booked to go again !!
A wonderful welcome from a very well dressed gentleman. The variety of food on offer was extensive. Once ordered it came in good time. A really, really good find.
Had a fantastic Sunday lunch after a long walk. Although busy, the service was quick and very accommodating. We were late and notified them in advance, they were very helpful. Would recommend.
Excellent service, lovely staff ,great service and, fantastic Sunday lunch well worth a visit price reasonable lovely place and atmosphere
Good food, nice pub staff welcoming.reasonably priced food and drink
Great food and evening, Keith the restaurant manager is fantastic!
Very good food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommend to anyone wanting to visit a typical old Lakeland pub
Lovely pub with good selection of beers, in the main the food is also good / very good but don’t bother with the starter tomato and burrata salad - £8:50 for a sliced tomato, a little bit of lettuce and three slices of burrata! It’s a pity because some of the other dishes are good value and well prepared
Had to leave earlier than hoped as one of our party felt unwell but still enjoyed the mains we had and would recommend to others
Great service and delicious traditional pub food. Would definitely return.
Been five years since we last due to covid and a visit to Scotland but the pub and restaurant remains a great place to visit for a great meal
Friendly staff, good range of beers, wide ranging menu, quick service, good portions, quality of food would say standard pub. Prices average for the area. Will return.
Fantastic Sunday lunch the best place in the area to eat
Great lunch and service, thank you again, we will be back
Excellent food served quickly by attentive staff in a lovely setting
Nice food. Lovely friendly staff. Pub has changed hands since our last visit.
Great service and super food. Staff couldn’t be helpful enough
Great service, atmosphere and good quality food, a good selection on the menu to choose from, would highly recommend
Fab Service and lovely food in a cosy setting 👍
Cracking food lovely staff, will be back soon, hope Dave had some new jokes🤣
Good service food good but not brilliant . Will dine there again
Very high quality good food with freshly cooked imaginative menu . Service excellent with charming , attentive staff ( special mention to Keith who entertained with his great sense of humour and very helpful when asked to advise on menu specials). A lovely experience, highly recommend this restaurant.
Superb choice of menu and very tasty food. The waiter/manager? Was so friendly and chatty and really made you feel welcome. Only downside we had was we were sat near the back door so was quite cold every time someone went in/out.
Lovely food and service. Really tasty veg curry and the crème brulee was lovely
Cosy surroundings. And excellent food. Thoroughly enjoyed it. As we are staying here very much looking forward to breakfast.
My wife came in for a Sunday evening roast. Had chipolatas for a light starter and then we had a turkey and a lamb roast. Food was lovely and hot, service was good , anll staff were very nice, good atmosphere.
Not as good as previous visits - went for Sunday lunch. One staff member helpful in finding us a table as we arrived early ( her colleague just told us we’d have to wait), so appreciated her proactive manner. Lamb was tough - told staff who asked if all was well - no action taken. And our green vegetables weren’t served, but another helpful mos sorted that for us. Overall, it was ok, but slightly disappointing compared with previous experiences
Good menu, good food (generous portions) good service, good prices. Four of us had various Sunday roasts and deserts. Recommended.
Lovely food and great service will be back this week
The perfect place for after a hike! The staff were so friendly and attentive, and food was served in really good time even though it was busy. Everything was delicious, can't wait to visit again
Great food with quick service at very reasonable prices, will definitely be visiting again.
Sunday lunch for two, friendly atmosphere, lovely food. Good service
We have been to The Horse and Farrier several times and it never disappoints. Great selection of food and very swift and friendly service. The olde worldy pub atmosphere is delightful too. We'll be back!
Great food and very helpful as we were delayed getting to the restaurant
Lovely food and service in a gorgeous pub and setting
Friendly pub, great service and food and very welcoming to dogs
The food and service was lovely, the portions were a bit too big for my wife but very satisfying
Friendly and welcoming staff with quick service and fantastic food.
Great food, good service. Will definitely return. Friendly helpful staff.
Service was slow. Main course food, especially the fish pie, was disappointing.
Warm welcome and delicious food, really good choice on the menu.
Friendly staff and location, old world pub and atmosphere area
We have been before and found it amazing ,not so this time I'm afraid to say ,everyone was pleasant and the food came quickly ,but not to the standard it used to be .Also if you book on line ,I would let them know that you have dogs even though it's a dog friendly pub ,dogs aren't aloud in certain areas .
Need to book but well worth a visit, great food and nice atmosphere. Sunday roast was fab.
First course service and food great but no response when waiting for sweet menu or to order. Gave up and when asked how it had been when paying mentioned the slow service and got a totally frosty response.
Gorgeous Sunday dinner and lovely local beer. Will definitely be back very soon.
Lovely meal but there was only one veg with the meal and didn’t realise that you had to order more
Food hot and great. Everything was better than expected. Perfect
