Big ubereats order prioritised above us sat in the restaurant. Waited 1.5 hours for our starters. Food great when it actually came. Shame as one of our favourites
Good service ,fabulous food as always - one of the best curry houses in Manchester. Pompadoms especially generous and lovely rice for side but best of all house special main and good vegetarian options
Great food, lovely atmosphere, helpful and polite staff although with the restaurant being very busy there was quite a wait for the dishes to be served.
The staff were very nice and friendly, as well as accommodating and helpful. The food was nice and the set meals were a great value.
A really enjoyable meal. The restuarant was very busy considering it was very early. The service was good as was the atmosphere. We will be visiting again soon.
Delicious food, excellent service. We have been going to the Great Kathmandu for several years, the food is very authentic and service is always excellent. I would definitely recommend.
Very attentive and good humoured staff. Food was very good. Only downside was the noise from the full restaurant. Would certainly go back again in 2017.
Very nice food and friendly staff, who are like family! Catered for our two young children very well. Price generally competive to other restaurants. Thank you.
The table was ready for us and the service was great. We had the Jhinga prawns to start - they were amazing as were the mains
Up to the usual great standards. The Great Kathmandu has been a favourite for over 2 decades and still remains the first choice restaurant in West Didsbury.
The food was excellent, the staff were friendly, the atmosphere pleasant. It deserves its reputation as one of the best curry houses in the country.
First time at this restaurant, nice atmosphere. Very nice food, and a pleasant service, apart from being asked to leave 10 minutes after closing time!!
Dreadful service - waited around 90 minutes for our food and then it was average. word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word word
Food was great as always. Service was a little slow at times as there were lots of Xmas parties in-to be expected this time of yr I guess. Staff were attentive when they were available.
We are regular visitors to the Kathmandu . Always great food and friendly service. The best place for a curry in South manchester. Would highly recommend
Previously We have been out as a big group to Kathmandu and the whole thing was great - slick - good food and great service led by a fantastic hostess but this time it was completely different. The service was really poor and the food quality poor also. Three different people brought us menus despite being told we were having a set menu and we continually had to repeat requests. The organisation was shocking and it seemed short staffed. I wouldn't rush back.
We waited almost 2 hours to get seated. Service appalling. A group of seven people who hadn't booked got seated before us and served before us. Two of our party had to leave to catch their tram home without eating the main course as it was so slow to come out. The food was good but service was atrocious.
Arrived for 18:00 and although the restaurant had just opened it was already starting to get busy, which is always a good sign! Very cosy and family oriented restaurant that manages to keep a high standard of services with great food and a lovely Nepalese atmosphere!
As always, great food and service. Three quarters of the party we vegetarian and had plenty of choice. Many thanks for a great night and great food.
Good service, excellent food (as always), good value for money. Only criticism is the floor had cutlery and food left lying on the carpet; none of which was removed during or 1.5 hour stay.
Great food at a reasonable price. The restaurant was full, which was quite a surprise for a Wednesday but service was prompt and we did have an undue wait.
It was great food and a lovely atmosphere. The staff were delightful. The minimum word count enforced here and the complulsory additional features I must fill in will really put me off reviewing again though.
Food is delicious however the service midweek for a large group of 8 appeared to be too much for the waiters. We were short changed on the amount of mo mo's we'd ordered for our starter, the staff brought out meals we hadn't ordered, and we struggled to catch someone's eye when we needed something such as a drink or the bill. I would still go back however, as the food is truly very tasty, and the service at the weekend for small groups such as couples is fine.
We used to eat here many years ago not long after it first opened. It was only a small restaurant then and the food was second to none - the freshness, the flavours and the tandoori cooking absolutely sublime with naan and pilau rice to die for. The restaurant has since expanded considerably in line with its reputation and to meet the ever-increasing demand for food in West Didbsury. We thought the curries were as good as ever but the tandoori mixed starter was disappointing - whilst the flavours were good, we were pretty sure it had been re-heated in a microwave and not cooked fresh in the tandoor, especially as it arrived very quickly after we'd ordered and the seek kebab was on the soggy side. However overall this did not detract from what was a very reasonably-priced meal served by friendly, efficient staff - and the curries, rice and naan are still THE best, though the Rajdoot runs it close (but is a lot dearer).
The most beautiful curry I have ever had! Mixed with the best service, authentic, homely, delicious ! We will be going back a lot in the future ! X
Great food and people. Prices are relatively low. It is definitely a must try. Loved the Papadum and the whole food is served like a ritual. Looking forward to my next visit :-)
Pleasant restaurant, laid back and relaxing - service was attentive, but low key, and the food was beautiful. This restaurant compares favourably with its sister restaurant The Third Eye in Didsbury.
I always have a very good meal at the Great Katmandu. Very reasonably prices and i would always recommend the mixed Nepalese Masala dish. Very tasty!
Booked a large party of 12 for a meal and we were not disappointed. Really good food and good service. Love this restaurant and will certainly be going again!
A warm welcome from the staff; the meal was efficiently and effectively served. The quality of the food is outstanding with rich, varied flavours with a wonderful variety of herbs, spices ,ginger and garlic. All at avery reasonable price.
Food was as good as usual but the service wasn't as good tonight-we told the manager who we know from regular visits and he promised to speak to the staff so everyone happy.
Great service, very fast and efficient. Beautiful tasty food. A very lively, busy place. If you don't mind a lot of noise while you're eating this is a good restaurant.
I really enjoyed my meal the wife tried something new and didnt like her choice as much. Service was good throughout. Nice draught beer and a good atmosphere.
The place was very busy, people waiting to be seated. As we had booked we where lead straight through to a table. The food is excellent served by helpful friendly staff. We will defiantly be doing this again. First Class Thank you
Food was average, but the service was friendly and helpful. My lamb dish was clearly just a sauce poured over pieces of lamb that weren't even hot. The aloo dum wasn't very flavourful, although my friends' dishes seemed to be better. The peshwari naan was excellent, though!
Always consistant.. I've been coming here for 10 years and I'll keep on coming back. I love the lamb mo mo's, the tandoori Karahi and the chicken sha chuka
A very nice little authentic Nepalese and Indian restaurant to have a meal with family and friends for a reasonable price plus the staff are very nice.
A group of 5 of us do a fairly regular Thursday night at the Kathmandu and we always get great food and service and the fact the place is always busy on a weeknight tells you its a great place to eat and drink. We have tried elsewhere but have given up and only come here now!
Another really nice meal at the Katmandu. I had the same meal as my last visit as it was so nice I didn't want to change. Good service as usual with a nice atmosphere.
A fantastic experience in this long standing and venerable Manchester institution. Superb service and high quality food. Our German visitors loved it. A jewel in the crown
Restaurant was nice, food was good and staff were friendly. Definitely would go there again some time in the future. The cutlery might need updating though.
Good food, a pleasant atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff - a place to return to over and over again, to work all the way through the menu!
We visited on a Sunday evening just after opening. The restuarant began to fill up pretty quickly with both families and couples. The food was excellent with good service throughout. We will definitely be visiting again.
A very nice little authentic Nepalese and Indian restaurant to have a meal with family and friends for a reasonable price plus the staff are very nice.
Very Friendly welcome and service from the owners daughter and great food. what started out as a great evening was marred slighted by the hostile attitude of the owner whilst clearing the table and delivering the bill which we had not asked for.....just as well we didn't want coffee !
Superb meal and service is excellent. Very friendly staff. Best curry hour in Manchester. I highly recommend the chilli paneer, although is spicy! Great selection of beers also.
2nd visit here, traveled down from Glasgow for Sunday flight. Busy sat night so small wait for food, but good atmosphere in resturant and food well worth the wait. Great meal will be back soon I hope!
Always enjoy the Great Kathmandu! Great food, helpful waiting staff, what more could you ask for?! Seriously, great location, great atmosphere, you should try it now!
We go here on a regular basis and the food and service is always excellent! It is so different from the usual Indian food which makes it stand out.
It was a very nice experience, the staff were lovely , very friendly. The only problem we had was that we felt the food was a bit rushed. No sooner had we finished our starters and they brought the main courses. It would of been nice to have a bit of time in between
