Great food as always the refurb looks good, same good value set menu. The menu is less extensive than before but still plenty of choice, service was pleasant but a little haphazard!

Good food. Good service. Nice setting. The vegetables were well cooked but maybe something more adventurous if I am being picky. A fairly good house wine.

Not as upmarket as I was expecting (for the price). Food was decent, not exceptional and portions need to be slightly larger. Table service was fair but the age of the staff meant they seemed a little unsure when dealing with "experienced" customers.

Very disappointed was looking forward to visit after redesign Poor design and horrendously noisy and echoing. Place was very busy and staff member tried hard and moved us from main area but still could not talk across table Food only average so that's gone down from before plus ordered sweet and although 3 staff asked if we wanted a sweet it never arrived so gave up and paid bill This was my wife's favourite in the area but we won't be back soon

My first visit to the newly refurbished Four Stones. It has been transformed into a very elegant restaurant. Went for lunch on a Thursday, it was very quiet, but the staff were friendly and attentive. Myself and 2 friends ate off the set menu, 2 courses for £16.95. We all enjoyed our main courses, which were served with a nice selection of fresh veg. I had the lemon posset for dessert which was creamy, tangy and totally delicious! Excellent value for money, would definitely recommend :-)

Good food, reasonable service, lovely location. The only adverse comment is being asked if everything was OK when the food had just been placed in front of you, we did not really have time to see if everything was OK. Apart from that a good place to go. Menu choice is a bit confusing, I would of preferred just one menu, but loads to choose from. Friendly welcome from the staff with a choice of where to sit. Will certainly go again.

Good menu choice and specials on offer. Food was lovely. Only (very minor) gripe was that the music was slightly too loud. Will definitely visit again.

We loved the decor and the atmosphere. The soup was delicious as was the lamb. Although the pork belly starter sounded great it would have been even better with a little moreseasoning and more apple. Unfortunately my husbands fish was undercooked. But a replacement dish was soon sorted. Thank you We would have loved a desk at the entrance, a place to 'check in.' It had no real focal point for arriving or paying.

Haven't been to The Four Stones since it's been refurbished but i was pleasantly surprised. It is a lot more modern than what I expected which is good. The food was lovely and couldn't fault it. Staff are friendly and attentive. The drinks are a little expensive but overall it was a nice evening and I would definitely visit again.

It was our first time at this restaurant, and I had not been for many years. Nicely decorated and refurbished, and the food was good (albeit the waitress talked us into some deserts that they had already ran out of!) Was sat by the front door, and a bit noisy and cold as a result, and the lack of soft furnishings meant it was quite noisy and difficult to hear each other. Overall I would recommend it.

Staff very professional. Wine fantastic. Food good, but missing a few touches which would have made it brilliant. Toast with Pate was stone cold, no butter. Eaton mess served in what looked like a vase, with little cream and few strawberries. Would eat there again on special occasions.

The restaurant was very busy & it appeared the staff were finding it hard to cope. We ordered drinks on three occasions throughout the evening - had to ask the whereabouts of our order twice & had to leave our table to ask another member of staff what had happened to our drinks - they had to be re-orderd. I formed an opinion that the plan or method of service were somewhat confused - as apologies were being offered to every other table ! Having visited the restaurant two months previously, when we enjoyed the food & service - this occasion was very disapointing. The food was presented well, by very pleasant staff, but the mains we ordered were memorable for the wrong reasons.

The food was great and the atmosphere was friendly, relaxed and welcoming. A minor niggle would be that flowers on the table were wilting and could have been refreshed for a Friday night.

The food was okay, not great, not awful, just okay. However the wines were really good. The staff were very pleasant and apparently a few staff had rung in poorly so maybe that had a bearing on the food.

Very warm welcome given and attentive ( not intrusive) staff throughout our visit. We chose from avery reasonably priced set menu. The food was delicious and well presented. It was great to see the restaurant so busy throughout the evening. We shall definitely be back. Next step is to add some art the walls. There is a gallery nearby, perhaps one establishment could support the other.

Thought we would try this after their extensive refit. Overall it was ok but a couple of niggles , namely , not much room for a pre dinner drink or after dinner coffee as I prefer not to sit at the dining table for these. Took a long time to get the first drink and we were quite late to be seated, but they did apologise saying that the early diners were being a bit slow. So, on a selfish note, I like to have my table for the evening but understand the more times a restaurateur can turn their tables the better for them. Bit of a mix up with the main course BUT my starter Pate and main of Lamb were tasty and well cooked. Waiting staff were polite and well presented but I feel they could find it useful to invest in a tray or two, so they can carry more than two drinks at a time , especially when there is a backlog at the bar. Would I visit again - Yes.

We have been to this restauarant before, and we were disappointed that the small things that attracted us in the first place have gone. Breads on the the, olives and little touches typical of Italian food have good, and the menu is more generally mediterranean than before. The food was very good - just not what we were expecting based on previous visits.

The staff could not be more helpful. I had informed them that one of the guests was unable to walk far and we were greeted at the entrance and guided to our table which had been allocated near the door. Throughout the meal the staff were very attentive and, with the delicious food, helped make my mother's birthday a very special day.

The potential of this restaurant could be great but it's not quite there yet. The restaurant manager was very friendly and pleasant. The ambience was better once the restaurant was full but could be improved by having a bit of colour somewhere or a few pictures on the wall especially in the middle section. Everyone in my party said the food was okay but we weren't blown away by it. The exception to this was the braised lamb shoulder (that came alongside the rack of lamb) which was excellent. Very tasty. Maybe consider moving/hiding the grey cutlery trays as they are an eyesore?

Lovely food, lovely setting. We unfortunately our vegetables with our main course were bought to the table quite some time after the Main itself which by this time had cooled cosiderably. We asked for the vegetables twice and in the end insisted the main courses were replaced. To be fair, this was done and was perfect. The restaurant manager didn't seem to know about until she asked us if we were enjoying our meal. We were satisfied with the replacement meal but nobody seemed overly concerned that it had happened.

What a transformation! Lovely food, great ambiance. Only negatives how can you use a hard bread stick with balsamic vinegar and could do with a couple more minutes left between courses.

Restaurant very pleasant with lovely views from our table in the conservatory. However my wife asked what the vegetables of the day were then asked if she could just have the green veg with no potatoes with her fish dish.. We were told that this was not possible as the vegetables had already been put in dishes and would be for us to then share. We found this rather inflexible and the amount of vegetables overall was not great. There was no other choice of potatoes than the new pots served or chips as an extra. Neither was there a salad option instead of veg.We eat out a couple of times a week and even with lower priced pub food find a much greater choice of options and the staff more accommodating. My wife had just a main dish £18.95 I had the three course for £19.95. Food was ok but not exceptional.

Very pleasant, atmosphere is what you make it whilst having the meal which I like to do, staff very polite, nothing went unnoticed, drinks were always topped up and replaced, food was excellent, veal hot pot lovely but too hot to eat took along time to cool down, dress code is entirely up to you be dressed up in glitzy ladies dress or in jeans sports jacket shirt for a man no one took any notice. Ceilings very low so if tall just watch a few of the light displays off the side walls don't hit you. Toilets very clean. We did ask about Christmas Day but unfortunately they fully booked on both sittings and have been since August. Well that says it all.....Go and try you will not be disappointed. Thank you for making our family evening for my dads 76 birthday very comfortable.

Nicely renovated but did not realise the majority of the food was seafood, as I don't like seafood this was not a good choice of restaurant for me! Had a sandwich, as it was lunchtime, which was nice. The chips however were greasy and horrible. Service ok.
