Not as good as it used to be, very little choice now on menu. Food was good but I was disappointed

Quite a good choice of food and good quality. Lacks atmosphere and was.very noisy towards the end of our meal with casual callers.

Will always try and visit the four stones on at least a monthly basis, always feel very welcome with great service and food

Fantastic food , think surroundings are still a work in progress , but the staff are all exceptional ,, will go again for sure

The food was lovely, we have been there twice now. My only comment would be that the service is a little bit slow. Would definitely go again as the the food is excellent.

We were a party of nine for Sunday lunch. The service wasn’t perfect but we put that down to the inexperience of the young staff who were nevertheless extremely pleasant and helpful. The food, especially the roasts, were superb- generous portions of beautifully cooked meat and delicious vegetables. A lovely experience

Ate here with my sons to celebrate new jobs. We had Sunday lunch and the choice and quality of food was good. The restaurant good do with a little more charm. The waiting staff are lovely and polite but need some level of organisation to be more efficient in terms of ensuring a smooth flow for customers between courses. The music was a little loud to start with but soon turned down. Overall a very positive experience and good value for money, we will return.

Good food as usual and excellent service. It was a Valentines set menu and the steak was cooked to perfection

We’re closing the next day very limited set menu with many choices sold out. Was a special occasion and was given no prior warning it was closing on 5th for a while. Had a drink and then moved onto somewhere else to eat. Shame as was looking forward to it. Waitresses polite and apologetic. Bad management of stock

A lovely Boxing Day lunch - very good value for money

The staff were excellent. The food was good even though the fish out under cooked they rectified straight away and still came back with new fillets cooked correctly and not over cooked. This restaurant was very dated last time I came but at last they have now come up to scratch well done we will be back

Absolutely shocking, sent all 4 meals back as they were inedible & they still had the nerve to still charge for our 4 drinks. Such a lovely location, but surprised this place is still trading as a restaurant. What a shame.

We go to the Four Stones every Christmas and sometimes New Years Eve. This year’s experience was the worst ever. Just the Christmas fayre menu and no specials - usually a fantastic choice of specials alongside the Christmas menu. The restaurant was cold and unwelcoming without the usual roaring wood burner. Food was just “ok” and nothing special at all. My guess is the staff may have completely changed from last year. Will not be going again I’m afraid after several years of patronage.

Starter - Tart was all pastry & no filling Main - Turkey was lovely but Yorkshire and roast potatoes we like rubber couldn’t cut them. The last few times I’ve visited food quality not as good as it used to be.

Our first visit and will not be the last. The warm welcome the friendly smart staff the amazing food and of course the warm cosy place itself were all amazing.

Unfortunately we were sat next to a very noisy table of ladies so difficult to talk amongst our own party of 6! There was no Coke or lemonade, 2 courses had been substituted, I had Turkey but it was not very hot, thick slices were not appetising along with massive parsnips and carrots - I would have liked peas or sprouts - whole meal was insipid and bland and did not enjoy it . Roast potatoes were pale and gravy tasted fake .

Festive menu sounded really nice but when it came my quiche was dried out and turkey meal ....carrots were raw

Couldn’t have the selection of sweets required as they ran out. Perhaps with larger groups this may be an idea to select requirements in advance re the menu.

Table wasn't ready for us. The food was very poor. No finesse to the way it was produced

Not the best , service not the best had to ask for water 4 times , had no salad to go with one of the meals , pate bread nearly broke teeth on !!!

The menu looked great, the staff were efficient and attentive, but it failed in execution. The starters were lovely. 4 out of 5 had steak, and although requested medium rare, and looked good, tasted dry. The gravy was like water and not what you would wish near a £10.00 extra steak!. The chips were soggy. In our opinion the kitchen needs a rethink.

Nice Sunday lunch, good service and food quality. Haven’t been here for a few years, setting and atmosphere were lovely. Food could have been a little hotter but still a nice experience.

First time here. Small restaurant so no bar area to enjoy a drink first but staff friendly. Home style cooking.

No fire lit so room cold. Tried to sit us by the door! Service slow No roasters or choice of veg Plates like dishes

Menu was different from the one advertised. Many wines and cocktails were out of stock. Went elsewhere.
