Food was nice Not much beef in the beef bourguione pie. The steamed veg, chips and dauphinois were delicious. Meals were beautifully presented. Service on this visit was sadly lacking. We had to ask for table water, we weren’t asked if we needed any extra sauces, had to flag a waitress down for this and no one came to ask if we needed more drinks, even though our glasses were empty. The waitress seemed miserable and uninterested, gave the impression of a very unhappy environment.

My main dish was stuffed chicken. It came warm and the chicken was not as tender I would have wished, the stuffing was unremarkable. Vegetables, desert and wine very enjoyable. Equally the services wish impeccable.

Lovely venue, staff all friendly and attentive. Food was very good standard and lovely touch of personalised menu as we had booked in advance for a birthday celebration.

Good quality food and service. Pleasant atmosphere. Far better than you average pub eateries. A place to recommend and revisit.

A very quiet night - only 5 tables. Staff were polite and attentive and the food was great. Still our favourite place for a special evening.

As always, The Fountain provided a most enjoyable meal. The menu is varied and a little different to the usual fare offered by similarly priced establishments. Staff are pleasant, well-trained and hard-working. Highly recommended!

The Meal last night was absolutely amazing. We had 3 courses all of which we really enjoyed, the food is always exceptional here, hence noting was left on our plates. There's always a good selection and everything tasted divine The Staff were very friendly and we were served very quickly with drinks and didn't have to wait too long for food. Overall we really enjoyed it and will be going back again for sure

Enjoyed our visit to the Fountain for a family meal. The food was good and there's a really nice atmosphere at the pub. I was impressed by the staff who seemed very caring and helpful with my elderly mother's mobility needs.

We felt that standards had dropped at this restaurant quite considerably. We felt crammed in! My partner was constantly being knocked by staff and customers! When customers arrived or left on next table to us they had to squeeze past and we had to move items on our table out of the way! Whilst eating my starter a waitress cleaned the table next to us and l got sprayed with cleaning spray on my arm. It only narrowly missed my food! Beef Wellington was very fatty and not up to it's usual standard. Very disappointed that the Goats Cheese Wellington has been removed off the menu! Very poor choices for vegetarians now! We felt our whole experience was rushed and did not recognise any staff! We were upset that the venue is up for sale! It appears the current owners have already let standards slip! We go to Fountain around 5-6 times per year, but we will not be returning back, which is very sad!

We had a lovely meal. It was very busy but we didn’t have to wait long for our meals. The food was as normal of a high standard.

Far too many large parties booked in,nowhere for people to stand whilst waiting for tables to be cleaned and prepared,staff were totally inexperienced. Our much needed lunch out was completely ruined. Never again!!

The Fountain offers informal but extremely high quality & high standard catering consistently. The menu covers a good range of tastes & preferences, with at least three vegetarian/vegan main course options. My wife & I have visited The Fountain frequently over the last ten years or so & I can say we have never had a disappointing meal in that time. If mistakes are made - & these are very rare - the problem Is acknowledged & put right without fuss. Strongly recommended

Admittedly it was Christmas and we arrived a little early but we were kept waiting 30 minutes for our table which indicates the restaurant was over booked. Waiting in the bar area creates difficulties because you are simply in the way.
