The Fountain at Clent

Tables are very very close together. Otherwise fine. Food excellent.

An old favourite we haven’t been to for five years due to young children. We went today after a nice walk on the Clent Hills behind. Booked on Quandoo on a punt as we didn’t think we’d get a table as it was last minute decision. Familiar, genuinely friendly staff providing excellent service but the real secret to this hidden gem is the food which I am glad to say is still amazing. We has the lamb hotpot (why wouldn’t ya) and a fillet steak. Child’s menu is great and the puddings are still gold. They even do great coffee (with cream!) Lots of great touches but worthy of special mention are the chips which are still the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Looking forward to our next visit.

Have visited this restaurant many time socially and for business. The ambience and food are of a high standard. This visit was with business colleagues, they were impressed with the food and overall experience. For me, my main course was poor, a piece of Halibut (ran out of Turbot) which looked and tasted as if it had been defrosted and warmed up then plonked on top of a risotto with no real care. Disappointing. Would not complain as my colleagues had enjoyed the food so much and business is more important than a piece of fish. This will not stop me going again, but won't order the fish risotto.

We haven’t been here for a while but went for lunch and were amazed at the whole experience. All of the staff could not have been more efficient and the Sunday lunch was incredible.The best we have ever had.

It would be nice if there a few more English dishes on the menu. What’s happened to the duck breast?

Creme brûlée cold and lacking taste. Main meal v good. Service good. Starters seemed rehashed or in the case of garlic bread - dry?. Overall meal was ok

Having had many super Sunday lunches here before which were homemade this one fell very short. Pink roast beef ordered was very thin along with gravy and not pink but grey and unappetising with roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding , (these definitely did not look or taste home made which all looked like they had been purchased as frozen )! Good service by staff and a pleasant sticky toffee desert redeemed it to a degree.

I can't praise The Fountain enough. The staff welcome you in, escort you to your table and take your order almost immediately. Nothing is too much trouble. The food is exceptional, hot and you don't wait very long before it arrives, excellent value for money. Highly recommended

Lovely food and service, nice atmosphere - fairly intimate but not loud. Waiters need to wait until you are sat down to ask what drinks you would like, not ask you on the way to your table. Also needs to be 5-10 minutes between starter and main, they were literally one after the other leaving no time to digest the starter.
