The Fountain at Clent

Food was delicious, the setting perfect and the service excellent. Friends we were with were eating at Fountain for the first time and were very impressed and plan to return.

Neither food or service up to normal standard. Same old boring steamed veg and potato offered. All crammed in one end of restaurant then the - very hot and unpleasant to be able to rely.

Loved the food and the atmosphere however be prepared as parking a nightmare. So many cars considering how many tables.

Good food but a little expensive for the sandwiches. It was very busy but the food still came reasonably quickly despite a mistake with the order. Staff friendly and attentive. Not wonderfully happy with the position of our table, but the tables do seem to be crammed in and too close together. Overall though, quite satisfied and will definitely visit again.

I have visited the Fountain several times now and again it was a fantastic experience. The Fountain has a relaxing ambience and the staff are attentive and polite. It’s definitely a place that I would recommend.

Excellent meal as always and good value for money. A major decision between lamb shank and beef wellington, lamb won this time and as usual didn’t disappoint.

Cosy atmosphere, warm welcome and great food as usual....battered king prawns, lamb shoulder, creme brulee - should try something different but these dishes are so good!!

Menu selection was great, had to wait awhile for drink order to be taken and the same for dessert order; service once the orders were taken was very good though.

All 5 of us really enjoyed the fantastic food ( the wine was lovely for me too) just didn’t give 100% as our table was opposite the entrance door and it was so drafty every time the door opened, even though the staff were very quick to close the curtain over the door once diners had entered. That said as soon as we mentioned it to the staff a board was placed between us and the door and we didn’t feel the draft again. I just thought they could have done this before we arrived as they were aware it was an problem with that particular table.

The Fountain is usually wonderful, but it didn't quite live up to expectations this time, perhaps the chef was having an off night? It was busy when we arrived, we were seated in the corner, which was fine, but the table next to us had two young children who were a little noisy. Fortunately they soon left which improved matters. The staff were friendly and helpful and the personalised menus is always a nice touch, especially when celebrating birthdays as my friends were. I had the duck for my main, and it wasn't as tender as expected. The sauce was lovely, but the veg was barely cooked! The broccoli stems were so hard the knife wouldn't cut them and the carrots and baby corn were more than a little crunchy. I'm always happy with al dente veg, but this was virtually raw. We should have mentioned it at the time, but the waitress had been to ask us if everything was alright before we'd even started, so it would have meant making a fuss and we were intent on catching up and enjoying the company, so we let it pass. The chips were beautifully cooked, and the assiette of desserts wonderful, so not all bad, we just expect more of the Fountain, it's usually so good!

Excellent food, slightly disappointed in our sweet course as the cherry bake well was not presented well did look a little messy on the plate but look forward to our next visit

food and service were excellent - i have never seen a cheesy garlic bread like it !!!

All staff are fantastic and food was amazing, only complaint was one of the steaks was very fatty and most of it un eatable but the host was very apologetic and took meal off bill. We would definitely go back again thank you Scott
