First time back here since lockdown. First meal out and was just so relaxed. Greeted and took to our table. Hamper on table with everything we needed hand gel etc food was amazing as usual.

I can't recommend this pub/restaurant highly enough. Covid requirements tastefully implemented, food and service both of a very very high standard and at a sensible price. Extensive menu choices for all courses and good wine list. Fabulous - look forward to going again soon.

Our first trip out after lockdown was to the Fountain and we enjoyed a fantastic meal. Food and service was brilliant as always and the restaurant had put in place all the necessary hygiene measures in a well thought-out personal hamper. Would recommend to anyone.

From start to finish the experience was brilliant. What constituted the experience was the care shown as you arrived the attention to detail and explanation of everything that was going on which is of course different to when we last when to eat out as a nation. Ultimately what matters when visiting a restaurant is the food and it was exemplary. I hope Richard and Jackie and the team work through this successfully and we have many more years being able to to join them at the Fountain

We were among the very first customers to the Fountain after lockdown on Saturday lunchtime. This has always been a great pub and a great place to eat: the food is superb value for money and of an excellent quality but we were truly blown away by the planning and level of care taken by the Fountain to ensure a safe, socially distanced pub experience. Menus were all individually printed - it had my name on - and these were taken away by us when we finished if we wanted (yes !) or disposed of. All our cutlery, condiments, glassware, napkins and personal bottle of hand sanitizer arrived in a beautiful hamper, tied with a ribbon that had been packed under clinical conditions - without the touch of human hand - for us to unwrap and serve ourselves. This was a most elegant solution and added greatly to the experience. Service was superb, of course, and all was highly organized, safe and very welcoming. Food and drink top notch, from the amuse bouche of a homemade hummous crustade to the amazing belly of pork and crackling. Also, how brilliant that nearly all their excellent wines can be brought by the glass, bottle or carafe so it was possible for me to have a very nice glass or two of St Emillion with my pork and a Picpoul with the fish without breaking the bank. I cannot recommend the Fountain and its staff too highly. Thank you, guys. Please go and support them as soon as you can; you will not be disappointed.

Thought the place had had a makeover. Couldn’t see any difference. Men’s and ladies toilets needed cleaning. Food wasn’t that great.

Had our first meal post-lockdown on Sunday and needless to say the food was excellent as usual. Give the circumstances, I thought it was worth mentioning how The Fountain has cleverly turned the new Covid-safe rules into something positive. Even before entering the pub, there was an automatic hand sanitizer dispenser on the wall outside. All staff wore masks and the tables were well-spaced. After being seated, we were presented with a really nice wicker-style basket all wrapped up in a bow. It contained everything we needed for our meal including cutlery, napkins and water glasses, with a small card (signed by one of the owners) explaining that everything inside had been sanitised for safety. There was even a bottle of hand sanitiser in the basket The point is that we were expecting a slightly clinical visit but what we got was something that had really been thought through and actually made the restrictions a memorable experience. Not once did we come into contact with any other diners, many of whom were eating outside under the newly-constructed gazebos. Clever stuff and a nice 'new-normal'

A lovely pub with very friendly and heloful staff food was very good and the little touches they have made to make it safe was a great exspetience would recomend

Brilliant every time, cannot foresee a time when I won't be dining at the Fountain...lockdown excluding.

As good as ever. Never had a bad meal there. I had the slow cooked lamb shoulder, my friend had the fillet steak. All wonderful. I particularly liked the vegetables, not overcooked and mushy. No room for desserts. Staff were attentive and friendly. I booked an early table as we do not like to eat too late. Just right. Look forward to going again. Thank you

Pub is dowdy and not in a quaint way. Just old and musty . Had cod in cheese sauce with herb crust .. tasted like flour .. fish was suspect but we just got on with it .. Had no choice but to have chips and dauphinois potatoes which seemed random ..just came with meal !?!? I suppose it was the place to go in the 80’s but we won’t be going back to have below par food and to sit in rickety chairs , elbow to elbow with the next table even though there were plenty of other tables that the waiter could have sat the other diners at ! And it wasn’t value for money .
