We all had the set menu which was excellent and they we're happy to make a couple of adaptations, the staff were all friendly, it was very busy and service was a bit slow but it didn't matter as we'd been given a table overlooking Rutland Water as requested so we were happy, would visit again.
Better than average pub food, including beautifully cooked scallops and wonderful beef. The atmosphere is agreeable and the service pleasant. To the credit of the waiting team, my guest and I were never addressed as "guys".
Very clean, nice atmosphere. Lovely food served very quickly and decent price. Downside it was busy and staff seemed a bit distracted with drink orders but over all happy
Food excellent. Service very slow. Atmosphere pleasant and the situation stunning. Staff helpful but clearly having problems coping with a busy Saturday night . Had a lovely Family Sunday lunch recently so will certainly go again and hope for better service.
This was my third visit to this restaurant, this time it was for my friend's birthday and her first time at this restaurant. Once again the food and friendly service were excellent, along with the beautiful setting made the whole experience a very memorable occasion for my friend.
Service slow because they were unexpectedly busy. 30 booked for lunch, but 80 arrived! Nice E European waitress. What will we do after this terrible referendum result.
Great food, although service not quite up to their usual high standard - seemed to be very busy and a bit understaffed. Lovely lunch overall, not rushed and portions weren't excessive.
Lovely lunchtime spent with friends. Food fantastic! First 7 words sum it up but can't post until reached twenty five words so hence this extra waffle!,
Spilt cola on main dish, took away to redo but never arrived. Service very slow perhaps understaffed. Food very good but service lets it down
Excellent food and service. Very friendly staff and the food came quickly. Never felt rushed The steak was the size of s flip flop and cooked just right!! Also in a lovely setting. Great stuff.
Such delicious food well presented enjoyed in comfortable, relaxing surrounding. Staff extremely patient and helpful even though busy. We are well travelled people, so have experience of many restaurants. We only regret not booking for the night. We hope to be back.
Service with a smile albeit a little slow our meals were well cooked and very tasty , we will certainly be going again to try out something else .
Excellent food and service, much improved since last time we ate here. The sirloin steak was extremely large but very tender and the chips were fantastic.
Excellent food. Especially the Cod and the Lamb Rump. Both cooked to perfection. Quiet, calm ambience. Nicely spaced tables. Would have expected a jug of water as a standard though eventally offered with the dessert. Delicious panacotta for dessert. Prompt and efficient handling of the bill when requested. Excellent value South African wine by the glass.
Excellent food drink and service in very comfortable atmosphere. Prices commensurate with quality. This was a weekday lunchtime visit and not very busy, perhaps for this reason car parking was easy on site. Given the potential number of customers (restaurant seating) I have to say that if it was at a busier time there might be difficulties finding a parking space because, in reality, the only way to get there is by private transport. This could present problems at busy times, especially for persons who might find walking difficult. Overall a very good experience and highly recommended, my only reservation is that of parking at busy times. Booking by computer easy and impressive.
The food was great, well presented and delicious. The surroundings were nice too, comfortable and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend a visit
Overall the hotel was everything and more than we expected.Staff excellent & couldn't do enough to please. Although just having a a la carte menu at night wasn't to our taste as we were out all day & missed lunch time menu, but realise its easier when resturant busy. Couldn't fault breakfast on choice & quality.
Great food and an excellent restaurant. The location is beautiful and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Lots of menu choices and the food was beautiful.
Good food and service, friendly staff. Great location. Perhaps the restaurant could be a bit cleaner, and the dining room décor and furniture looking a bit tired, but in general we liked the place and enjoyed the food.
Accomodation very clean and modern. Food quality very good, ate ciabatta lunch, set menu dinner and breakfast. Service good but staff, need more training, carrying glasses of wine , cutlery, condiments to table by hand should be on a tray, hygiene. would recommend. Will stay again.
We had a girly meet up and everything was super! Weather meant we could sit on the superb terrace, the staffwere helpful, pleasant and efficient from start to finish. The food was very good, tasty, well presented, beautifully cooked, with plenty of options, and we thought it very good value for money. We have been quite a few times and will go back whenever we can,and I would recommend the Finch's to anyone.
The venue, service and food were excellent - a super place, and one to revisit, whether with loved ones or those who you would like to quietly impress. Such a superb time.
Lovely pub. Food was fab and staff busy but polite and helpful. Set menu good value for money. Roast meats delicious and raspberry sorbet was divine
Service was excellent, food was very good, setting was absolutely beautiful! 5 stars. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone. Would love to stay there in the future.
This pub has a spectacular view and position, also the staff are very pleasant and helpful! I ordered smoked salmon as a main dish expecting to get a substantial plate, when it arrived it was what I would call a starter size, which would have been 7.50 pounds, so presumably 15. pounds for a main! When I asked if mine was a main course, the server said yes, but later came back and said she had priced it as a starter for me! Not sure whether the amount I had, about 4 largish slices was an overpriced main, or a mistake in the order! Smoked salmon is available everywhere these days, and no longer a luxury, so even a small starter portion seemed overpriced! Otherwise a nice place!
As a special treat we had a good choice of menu. When the food arrived it was well presented. The pub was busy but good atmosphere. Will go again
Excellent food in wonderful ambience. Very helpfull and amusing staff who clearly added to the dining experience. my daughter said her fillet was the best
Beautiful setting, starters, main course superb, pudding slightly disappointing but would not hesitate to go back. Nice and clean and very friendly and helpful staff.
Good service, good food - they just can't add up the bill properly. It took 3 attempts to get it right! But that apart, it's a very good place.
Had a lovely meal with friends from outside the area. We all enjoyed it. The roast beef was very tender an my husband enjoyed the cod. Friendly staff would recommend it to my friends
Good food . Reasonable food pricing. Rooms getting a bit tired but for a pub Room 3 was reasonably quiet so a good nights sleep ensured. Staff friendly .
we booked for 1.30 Sunday lunch but did not get our food until 2.30..it was a glorious day and they had lots of tables outside all being served food so we decided that was why we had to wait for such a long time. Actually the food was really good and worth waiting for..the staff were helpful and we would go back but not on such a busy day.
Slow, because the place was heaving, but friendly service and the food is delicious! Booking is a must because if you call without booking you might not enjoy this exceptional experience. We will be going back soon.
Excellent food, good value wine list and friendly service. Pity about the very loud group at the next table. Hopefully we were just unlucky with them.
Lovely meal in delightful surroundings . Very attentive staff and good service. Set menu ideal for a lunchtime meeting. Will hopefully return soon for a repeat performance.
Good food but shocking slow service. The kitchens can't seem to cope with numbers. Shouldn't run out of large bottled water! Parking was also not easy.
The staff were lovely and very helpful. It's a great location and the garden area has stunning views. The food was also wonderful, we will certainly be back.
Food was really nice but the service was ok at best. Orders taken down were wrong - one of the staff had to write our order down on the back of a menu she took from us - where was the notepad? Had to ask for our drinks at least twice! Food was very good when it did arrive. Perhaps the restaurant would do better to have senior staff at strategic stations around the restaurant and directing the other waiting staff rather than everyone running around a bit like headless chickens?
It was a fab location and as we had arrived a lot earlier than our reservation, they had no problems agreeing to our request to eating earlier. The food was first class from a very good set price three course menu. No complaints and we will definitely return. Great real ales too a lovely gastro pub in a beautiful village with lovely walks nearby.
We had a very enjoyable lunch, just wish there were a few more options for light lunches for those of us who have to go home and cook dinner for our other halves !
The food was excellent, the menu spot on. We sat at a comfortable and discreetly secluded table. Our one criticism is that the service was rather slow.
The staff were sloppy when serving , waiter nearly spilled water over my guest. He asked for a coaster for his drink which he said they didn't have any and gave his a bit of paper towel. This is the second time having Sunday lunch recently and have been disappointed with the experience.
The food we both had was amazing. Best meal I've had out in a while but the service was terrible. Very slow and uninterested staff who made multiple mistakes on ours and the surrounding tables. Still would not put me off returning though.
The service st lunchtime was really slow. Very Disappointing! We booked for lunchtime and spent 2.5 hours there for 2 courses. More staff required urgently.
Lovely food, friendly staff, great setting. Highly recommended if you want food that's been prepared with a bit more care, is not quite the norm and a little more special.
Good choice of dishes on the daily menu. Attentive, friendly service. Can accommodate groups of 6+ easily when booked in advance. Scenic location, with views of Rutland Water from the outside patios, where we had pre-dinner drinks.
The finches arms, serves delicious good quality food, with good service and reasonable prices. Highly recommended, lovely in the summer to dine outside, parking is the only problem on a summers day.
We arrived a little late and were rushed as they stop cooking at 2:30pm. That was a shame as the food and service was good. Quite expensive and the wine overpriced. Nice location
Great food, but service a bit slow. Great atmosphere in the restaurant and the menu was extensive enough to ensure it suited all of us
Terrible service. Had to wait 20 minutes for someone to take an order. The lady who served us was miserable and made us feel like she was doing us a favour. Average food. We were there 2 hours and only got to eat 1 course. Our 4 year old git rather tired.
