We arrived and the pub was extremely busy but that didn't spoil a great Sunday lunch. The staff were friendly and professional . The lunch was delicious and we will return.
I cannot rate this establishment highly enough. Staff were friendly and efficient and the food was excellent. Wouldn't to recommend and I hope to revisit.
Fantastic ambience, service, food and location. Loved our evening and we will be returning frequently. This is a delightful restaurant which is intimate, tasteful, sophisticated and comfortable.
We ate a delicious lunch in the beautiful garden with views over Rutland Water, great quality food & good service. Parking and disabled access is an issue here though
Food was great, service was a little slow, but didn't detract from the experience. Reasonably priced as well, 3 courses, bottle of wine, under £100 with tip. Good amount of parking as well.
Food was good - Most of us had the Roast beef, but one had the fish and all was good. Service was a little slow. Location is good. Car park is quite small and was full but we managed to park nearby without any trouble
Great food, with a good range of choice, both the a la carte and fixed menu; excellent service. A good choice of real ales. Good value for money
Wow! super food and great location, My friends and i will be back very soon and will be telling others. The 2/3 course menu option is superb value with no drop in standards One of my friends like his meat very well done and he asked it to be more than pink and was very happy, although clever hidden under the "jus" I could see the meat was not "cremated", well-done chaps!! Planning next visit very soon
First time for myself and my partner. Very pleasant atmosphere, with great service from all staff. The food was delicious and well presented. We will be returning without any doubt. Superb!
Very enjoyable overnight stay, the room was lovely. Booked to eat in the restaurant were the food was delicious. Hope to return in the future.
A superb lunch - excellent food, good beer, great staff team. A superb lunch - excellent food, good beer, great staff team. A superb lunch - excellent food, good beer, great staff team. Highly recommended.
It was my first visit to the FA , I was with my usband and a friend and we all enjoyed it. I do have to add that whilst there my friend had a 'funny' turn and the staff and some of the customers were so kind and helpful and fortunately she recovered without having to go to hospital. Fortunately one of the customers was a nurse. A big Thank You to everyone at The Finch's Arms Judith Oakley
A little bit chaotic in the bar at arrival. No Sauvignon blanc and gas. Once in the restraint everything was very good. I do hope the bar service is improved
Service was non-existent. What should have been a lovely meal out for my husband's birthday turned out to be a bit of a let down. Come on Finch's Arms you can do better!
A welcoming atmosphere on our arrival for our anniversary meal. The Food was outstanding and look forward to a return visit very soon even though it was a good 40 minute journey. Well worth the drive.
Very pleasant surroundings, friendly helpful staff and good food. This was my second visit and I will certainly be going again. Would most certainly recommend.
Set in Lovely surroundings. Small but vary nice and varied menu. Would definitely return and happy to recommend for Sunday lunch. looking forward to trying on a different day.
Lovely surroundings; beautiful food, reasonably priced; friendly staff - and the manager went out of his way to help us. This was a very good experience all round, and we will certainly visit the Finch's Arms again. One word of warning - the car park fills up very quickly.
Gorgeous village with water views. Delicious lunch from a well thought out menu, Pub set in beautiful surroundings, it has become a firm favourite for the whole family.
Some of the best pub food I have had recently. Great to have full and varied menu on Sunday, not just roast. Very nice service as well.
Ambience on Christmas Eve was festive with visiting Carol Singers. Service was good. One of 4 guests would have preferred a smaller menu to the Festive one but the alternative bar menu was limited.
Really enjoyed our family meal at the Finch arms. They cater for both adults and children menu. Staff were warm and welcoming and location idyllic on Rutland water
A lovely pub in a great location. Delicious food and good service. Can go for a lovely walk around hambleton before a cozy lunch. Good lunch deal.
We had our first lunch as a couple at the Finch's Arms in April 2011. Now married, we visit at least once each year to keep the love alive!
Not child friendly. We booked online and filled the special requirements section in asking for 2 high chairs. When we arrived they said that they had no high chairs. Why have a special requirements section if you are either going to ignore it or not even read it.
As ever, great food and friendly staff. The Finches never lets me down even when busy. Lovely ambience in a cosy but well run, professional way
A warm and friendly greeting, our table was ready early but we opted to wait for the remainder of our party in the bar area which was not a problem. Food was spectacular and service brilliant. Can't wait to go back but in summer have been three times but never seen the view as always dreary or dark
Great food and location, not easy to find and car parking limited but well worth seeking out, nice views of Rutland Water from garden and restaurant windows
Extremely Tasty and beautiful food, the ambience was warm and inviting. Lovely village pub/ restaurant, the staff were polite and very gracious nothing was too much trouble. Will definately be going again highly recommend for a lovely relaxing Sunday afternoon.
Great food, in a relaxed setting. Curiously the waiting staff brought each round of plates before clearing away the previous one, which made the service feel a little hectic - but the excellent food did make up for it.
Great atmosphere, fine food and service. A lovely way to start the New Year and regards to "Jock" the golden oldie Jeff [ the Brit] Allen.
Very average meal poor service and when we brought our opinion to the managers attention he really did not seem bothered. I have been here on several occasions but won't be going again.
Truly, fabulous food, friendly staff, nice atmosphere. No quibbles when I accidentally ordered a starter as a main - it was simply sized up to suit. Extremely happy with our choice for Christmas Eve lunch.
Food very good atmosphere great but not much choice for vegetarians no high chairs and a bit slow service but very friendly and would definitely go back
Pluses:- Lovely warm atmosphere (log fires etc) on a very cold day with well prepared food and good choice of drinks. Minuses:- Too many tables in the bar area making it too cramped and a bit too expensive off the a la carte menu with a rather limited lunchtime deal menu. Low sun through the window was a problem for some.
A lovely pub set in a fantastic village, with good food that is great value, good service - the perfect way to finish our holiday!
Food was good as expected but staff were not particularly attentive and left our table without drinks many times. Many people still in bar area at 22:15 but we were told that the coffee machine had been shut down, no discussion, just a flat no. Tainted what.would have been an otherwise good evening.
Friendly efficient and a fantastic atmosphere. The food was superb and a wonderful wine list. Would really like to visit again to sample Sunday lunch
Really friendly and welcoming environment. The menu was interesting took a while to decide what we wanted, when it arrived tasted great. The waiters were attentive without being obtrusive. Will certainly return again would highly recommended the Finch's Arms.
We arrived an hour late due to personal circumstances and the staff were most helpful. Lovely food, excellent service and great value. We will be back !! Ali Stevenson
I have been twice this week. Excellent food on both occasions and very good value. The menu has a variety to suit all tastes. Just go!
We received a warm welcome upon arriving earlier than expected, they gave us a table and even moved us when we asked if we could seat by the window. The food was really tasty and bountiful, the sunday set menu is great value. Nice touch, there were chestnuts to roast on the open fire.
A lovely relaxed meal. Good food attentive service which was not intrusive. Will visit again in warmer weather when we hope to sit in the garden and enjoy the wonderful view.
Starter and main courses were great but the puddings were very disappointing. My Panecotta was bare set, running over the plate and my husband and stepdaughters chocolate brownies were thinner than expected, a bit dry and not warm. Service at the end looked very stretched, they needed more staff on. We ordered coffees but there were no spoons to stir the sugar and after asking for one we ended up having to go to the bar and ask for one as the girl had obviously forgotten it. Be aware the parking is limited and it was very dark in the village to try to find a roadside place. Would love to go in the daylight as it looked a lovely setting
Love it. Always do and I consider myself as picky as hell. It's as relaxed or formal as you want. I'll Be back before Christmas..
Lovely table, food was promptly served and delicious. Asked for more gravy and more appeared straight away. Not sure if turkey was from a whole turkey, seemed to be uniformly round. Still tasty and apart from that everything was fine.
Food was delicious and served nice and promptly. Clearly fresh and cooked very well. Only issue was they did not have any high chairs available for my friend's child which was a bit odd.
Five of us for dinner on Saturday night (21 Jan 17), the Finches Arms was very full, with people dining in the bar area also. Nevertheless, the service was very good while the food and wines were outstanding. There was a good choice of fare on the menu and we ended up having 3 different starters and 4 different meals between us; ranging from Smoked Salmon, Smoked Mackerel and Scallops starters - to Steak, Pheasant, Sea Bream and Cod for our Mains. Apart from it being a little noisy (it was very full) at times, the atmosphere was very convivial. Overall, a very good night indeed.
Have visited several times, but on this occasion the soup starter and dessert were fine, but sadly the vegetables with the main course (lamb & beef) were only lukewarm. Had to point out an error in the bill (immediately corrected) and we were not the only ones who had this problem.
Our table, booked online, was ready, and the staff knew we were coming. We were welcomed, and offered drinks and the day's menu. I chose chicken liver parfait as a starter, and my wife chose the tomato soup. Best chicken liver parfait I've had in a long time, and my wife said the tomato soup was as good as she has ever tasted. We both had grilled salmon which was perfectly cooked and delicious. Green beans and new potatoes were properly cooked i.e. al dente, and provided a good match for the salmon. A bottle of excellent Sauvignon Blanc and a bottle of chilled tap water accompanied the meal, and I finished with a double expresso. I can not fault the meal or the service. Only one down-side - the plates for the main course, although properly hot, were shaped like inverted UFOs with a central pit surrounded by an outward-sloping periphery - why? Nine out of ten for this excellent meal - change the plates for normal ones and I'll change that to ten out of ten. We will be back.
What a lovely setting. The staff were lovely and friendly and the food was excellent. Will definitely visit again when we return to the area.
