Ambience was lovely Table overlooking the sea , Service was very good Food was mediocre Fish and chips were lovely but the rest was poor quality and overpriced will think twice about another visit
Good food a great sevice. Location is very nice and the view on the sea is wonderful. We had a great time there and I'll come back for sure
Excellent friendly service and food with a wonderful view of the pier and sea. Fish was excellent and cheesecake great too. Booking on line in seconds was easy.
I ordered gnocchi with mushroom fricasse and some of the mushrooms were hard and the dish overall was dry - not enough sauce. My husband ordered duo of lamb and again the lamb was dry.
Went for Sunday lunch . Friendly attentive staff who could not have been more helpful . Great food and atmosphere . We Will definitely return.
Beautiful restaurant in a stunning location, overlooking the sea serving freshly prepared, high quality food. Excellent wine selection too and very friendl, yet professional staff.
Just such a nice place. A real gem. Great service, a brilliant table on the verandah overlooking the sea and excellent food. We were visiting someone nearby and found the Fig Tree in a guide book. Brilliant find. Gets busy for Sunday lunch apparently, so we will book if coming over for that.
Amazing food, very friendly service and fantastic location make this the best place for a leasurely lunch with friends or family. I just keep coming back for more!
food was fantastic, service brilliant, couldn't fault it in anyway will definitely be going back and they are dog friendly which is good as they do breakfast in the mornings on the weekends
Warning of 30 minutes cooking time for main course no deterrent ; somewhat tardy service more so. But nice atmosphere, lovely outlook, and "relaxed" service made for a good occasion
Haven't been here in a while. We decided to give it one more chance. Lovely building, not the best made of the views though. Took forever to have a drinks order taken. Starters did arrive reasonable soon after, the mains were a very long time in coming. As for dessert another very long wait for order to be taken and again for arrival. The waitresses were very pleasant but were not aware of cutomer needs. The food was reasonable only. Shall mot visit again.
The Fig Tree is a favourite. We visited again for an early evening spring dinner with overseas visitors. The location opposite Penarth pier is fantastic. We had a warm welcome and, as usual, an interesting menu with locally sourced ingredients. My only problem is that I ate too much! As so often happens, we were left sitting quite a long time waiting for our bill when we were really ready to go.
Really enjoyed the meal; service was good and really quick; and the atmosphere was really good. I think that there should be more vegan options, though!
Booked online via quango with ease for a birthday celebration, they provided fantastic food in a great location and with a wonderfully genial host. We will definitely be back.
As usual, the food was excellent and service very efficient in spite of it being a busy day. Staff were friendly and welcoming and there was a good atmosphere in the restaurant.
We come here regularly for good food, warm and friendly staff and a great location. The Fig Tree is one of the best restaurants in South Wales.
A pleasant lunch again. Very busy today and struggled a little from being short staffed. A fine place for a restaurant with a lovely view of the coast.
Great food. Loved the scallops and the allergen menus. Fantastic service. However, the kitchen was very dirty, especially the lights and lamp fixtures throughout the restaurant! Yikes!
Tables closest to the bar, kitchen and door entrance not the most comfortable. Generally attentative staff, food acceptable, albeit several of the main courses ordered surprisingly tasted a little bland.
Excellent lunch after a walk to Penarth fromCardiff. I- lived up to everything I'd been told. Great food & great service. Reasonable prices. Highly recommend
The food was absolutely amazing. Can't wait to return and enjoy the experience again. Even told my friends in work about it today as well as checking out the website
Have eaten here half a dozen times now, food and service are consistently good, as is the price. Wholeheartedly recommended and if the weather is good be sure to try and get a table outside.
Excellent meal . Service second to none. We went there with my cousins who were visiting from Australia. They were very impressed both with the presentation of the good and the general ambience.
When we arrived they didn't have our reservation. There seems to be teething problems between Quando and the restaurant. Fortunately there was a table available. The food was excellent. Service started well but tapered off so we felt somewhat forgotten but I would still go back but unsure whether I would book through Quando.
Great restaurant....food is prepared at a high quality level....wine list is great....the dessert platter with various items to select for two was fun. We visit this restaurant often and enjoy the cuisine.
Food and service were very good but on arrival they had no record of our reservation that we had made through yourselves (Quandoo). We were lucky to get a meal as the chef was about to go home. Fortunately he was good enough to stay and cook us a meal.
A lot of choice on the menu.Excellent food and service. Will recommend to friends and family. Family were visiting Penarth and they were impressed with the restaurant.
I object to staff clearing up the restaurant when I'm still eating. My fillet steak was cold in the centre and it was recooked rather than replacing it. Not what I would expect from "the best restaurant in Penarth". All in all, very disappointing
The staff are always very friendly and helpfull as my dad was in a wheelchair. Food hot and very tasty. Lovely views of sea and pier.
Excellent food good service at a reasonable price. The staff were welcoming the menu was large enough to give a good choice and the portions were of a good size. Will go again
Went for Sunday lunch. Great food and really good, friendly service. Catered well for kids with half portions of the standard menu at £11 for 3 courses, which was great value (and they ate everything!). I had the makeral, nut roast and cheese, which was all delicious and they catered well for my low-gluten requirements. Will definitely go back!
We visited on a very sunny Saturday afternoon in January for lunch. It is a lovely restaurant, with fantastic food, great service and fab views!
Did just what it said on the tin. Lovely friendly staff & good food, what could be better on a sunny but chilly day than sitting in the Fig Tree looking out at Flat Holm and Steep Holm across the Bristol Channel?
Great service, very acconmodaring of my 6 year nephew, lovely atmosphere and superb view of the sea with delicious food - will definitely return to The Fig Tree.
Fabulous food as always, highly recommend a visit for Sunday lunch, great variety on the menu. Excellent service, staff accommodated our early arrival despite the restaurant being extremely busy.
vegan food excellent; service very good - unobtrusive, friendly, efficient;; wine very enjoyable - it was super way to celebrate a family re-union- thank you.
Lovely restaurant in a great location. The food was tasty, but could do with a bit of refinement. Service was above average. All in all a positive experience and would highly recommend a visit.
Hi There My second visit to the Fig Tree and it did not disappoint . Shame the weather was not very good , so we had to move from the veranda to inside. But the food was excellent and the service very friendly and efficient.I hope to visit again soon. Cheers George
Staff were friendly but food was disappointing. Starters very small and not generous portions. Mains of Fish & Chip were very greasy indeed and we could taste the deep fried fat when eating the meal. For these reasons, we chose not to have dessert. I eat out at lots of different restaurants regularly and the Fig Tree is the first one to be disappointing in quite some time. I would not recommend or return to this restaurant.
It goes without saying that the views are beautiful but the food (and service) were equally special. As well as catering to the adults, staff ensured that our grandchildren also had a wonderful time.
Great venue, smashing location, lovely food and excellent service. Visited for a late lunch and it made our wedding anniversary a very special day. We'll most definitely be back.
A relaxing restaurant with friendly and helpful staff, situated overlooking the channel. Food really enjoyable and freshly cooked with good variety on offer. Definitely returning even though it's a 3 hr round trip!
