Staff were very polite and organised, Food good, waiting time good even thpugh the restaurant was busy, classic country pub and dog friendly.
We had been here before, and it had been good enough for us all to have driven at least enough an hour and a half to get there again today. This time it was all okay, which was all they seemed to aiming for. One of the three draught beers was off, one of the lagers was off, and the lager we opted for in consequence was flat, although they didn't notice, or perhaps they did notice but thought that was okay. Our main courses were, well, okay. They offered the dessert menu, then told us that everything was off, apart from a chocolate brownie or ice cream. Service was friendly and helpful, but unable to do anything about the various shortcomings. If you want to make a trip out to a country pub to have no better than an okay experience, then the Dog & Pheasant will, probably, be okay.
Lovely pub, really great service. Can’t fault it at all.
Food was very nice. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will visit again
A delicious roast by the fireside in this cosy dog friendly pub - perfect Sunday
Friendly and efficient service and very delicious and wholesome food.
Food quality has improved greatly and the staff were very attentive
Lovely atmosphere Delicious food esp the roast beef Nice service
Excellent pie today. Great and friendly staff. Warm fire too.
2 starters, 2 burgers and a bottle of wine for £94…….seems quite overpriced to me
First time used this pub after being recommended to use it by a friemd. There were 18 in our lunchtime meet-up group, which the staff, the food, the service and parking were all excellent. Thank you Dog & Pheasant, look forward to coming here again. Most kind regards - Andy A
Very friendly and efficient staff Lovely atmosphere / ambience after a long walk Real log fires and great food
Lovely friendly place. Good food and beautifully warm with two open fires
Great local pub, friendly and great food at reasonable prices
Second visit with out dog too. What a great place to be. A pub that’s got a warm and cosy feel and the staff are amazing. We sat next to fire and had a wonderful evening.
Great food Lovely log fire Will Deffo be back for sure
All was great until the desserts. Firstly, I had asked on the order form for a candle in one to celebrate a birthday. The serving staff knew which of our party was celebrating but nothing was forthcoming. Secondly the hot chocolate pudding was not hot, there was no poached pear and the sauce was really watery. Sorry!
Lovely pub with a real fire, friendly helpful staff and great food. Two of our party were delayed in arriving and the staff kindly rearranged things so we could have the table for longer.
Delicious food and lamb and beef were excellent, wish we’d had just a slice more of it thought…. 😉
Couldn’t fault it , great food , great prices , lovely little pub
Cosy characterful pub with good food and service. WIll return.
It was fine. Food excellent. Service a bit too slow.
Everything was fine although the food was a little disappointing. I like al dente veg but the cauliflower was almost raw. I thought the beef a little disappointing, looked appetising but a bit tasteless. Service and atmosphere excellent!
Delicious with great staff ... as always. Yorkshire pudding to die for!
Incredibly prompt service. Delicious fish and chips. Lovely staff. (I worked here 35 years ago and it was a very lovely revisit!)
My family of four and the dog recently dined at this restaurant for our Wedding Anniversary, and it was truly an amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. We were seated promptly, and our server, Noah, was exceptional. Noah's attentiveness and knowledge of the menu were impressive. He guided us through the options and made some great recommendations. Two of us had the venison pie, which was packed with meat, the rich, savory filling was perfectly encased in flaky pastry, and the flavors were outstanding. It's a must-try dish! The service was not rushed, allowing us to savor every bite and enjoy our family time. The desserts were huge and beautifully presented. We left the restaurant with full stomachs and smiles on our faces. After a beautiful walk, our day was made memorable, thanks to the wonderful food and the impeccable service provided by Noah. We can't wait to return to this restaurant for another unforgettable dining experience.
We were celebrating a friends birthday and chose the Dig and Pheasant as had been earlier in the year. The food this time was excellent and we all thoroughly enjoyed it. The choice was very good, with an interesting menu. The service was prompt and the pub was convivial.
Had already run out of one of the menu items by 19.30. That was disappointing.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Recommend the tasty autumn menu
Delicious Sunday lunch for family and friends. Especially loved the venison sausage roll
Great service and excellent food. Surprisingly a good atmosphere for an early Wednesday evening
Excellent staff and good food had by all A good chouce
Nice staff, a bit too over zealous when we were eating. Four times to be asked how our food was, I felt was overdoing it. Food okay, not the best, bit not the worst. Got charged £2 for extra gravy, not too impressed with that. But I like this pub, it's got a nice atmosphere.
Fantastic food and the service also very good.lovely time thank you dale and steph
Staff very friendly and the food was delicious, promptly served and not too much!
Excellent food and service a lovely atmosphere great roast lunch
Nice atmosphere and very pleasant waitress. Only ☹️comment is that we would have preferred softer eggs. My daughter in law loved her fish. Patricia Wilson
Very enjoyable, good food, good service, good wine list, go again
A really lovely lunch. Food was very nice - the crispy beef salad was notable! Staff couldn't have been nicer and worked so hard to accommodate an 18 month old who was a bit restless, bringing food for her quickly to keep her happy. Parking was a bit tight but plenty available five minutes walk away across the green in the Pirrie Hall.
A special country pub, excellent value and great staff. Amanda
Lovely welcome fabulous home cooked food, Venison Pie delicious. Dog friendly and lovely fire
Great food and service, log fire and loads of dogs - the perfect country pub.
The menu was different to the website so we struiggled a bit with a suitable vegetarian option but managed OK and had an enjoyable lunch as we have been able to rely on from numerous visits to the Dog and Pheasant.
Great food and drink and lovely atmosphere next to the open fire.
The food took a little time to come but we didn't have starters, which would have helped of course. The pub was packed so we were happy to wait. The waitress checked up on our food and informed us that it wouldn't be too long, which we thought was good. Well worth the wait - everything was perfect - delicious meat for all of us.
The food was very nice and the pub atmosphere was lovely
Lovely lunch, very friendly staff, great food. Very happy, will be back!
Great food and lovely staff, will go again. Only issue was pub was a little cold but I think the weather had just changed so not really their fault! It soon warmed up when more people sat down
There was great service and we had lovely food at this venue
Great food, friendly staff and busy. Great to see local pub doing well and deservedly so.
