The China Room

Living nearby we have known the China Room since it opened as a restaurant but only recently discovered just how good it is these days. We now rate it as one of our best Chinese style food experiences, with efficient and friendly staff and a brilliant menu. One of our favourites.

food was brill, service was brill, never go to another Chinese nearby again. The salt and pepper chicken they do is really really really nice

Ive been to the China Room many times really nice place Steve the owner and all the staff are always very welcoming the food is brilliant and the early bird menue is well worth the money and every other Sunday a magician is there to do magic tricks and he is brilliant

Great evening. Really good food at reasonable prices. Extensive menu with lots of options for specials, set meals and a la carte. Service was good, efficient but not intrusive. Enjoyed the magician who wowed us with his street magic in between courses.

Great food. Well presented. Staff friendly. Manager very friendly and talked to us a couple of times. Will be going back for sure several times. A real find in Westhoughton.

Could find no reason to complain about the food or service, however the place lacked atmosphere and it had none of the trimmings you expect from a Chinese restaurant experience, for example no lazy Susan or food warmers on the tables, no offer of chopsticks, just for some reason forks and spoons on the table. In all a little disappointing in the total experience, sorry to say

Excellent food and atmosphere. The staff were unobtrusive but on hand when you needed them. The spring rolls the best I've tasted. Would recommend the restaurant without hesitation.

Nice ambience, great freshly prepared food. Good wine choice,warm and welcoming staff. Really enjoyed my birthday meal and Will definitely be calling back for sure....

It was ok. Staff were friendly. I have been to nicer Chineses. Had a live musician which was also ok. Had a voucher which made it worthwhile.

Always a high standard of food. Steven and his team always put on a warm welcome. Quite an extensive menu and specials are usually excellent 👍

Amazing food it is absolutely delicious, great salt and pepper chicken and chips and very lovely staff. Would definitely recommend it to friends and family.

Excellent food - very fresh, nicely presented and tasty. Didn't wake in the night thirsty either, which to me proves it was excellent quality chinese food too. Pleasant service from all the staff. Will definitely go back.

It was great - fast service and the food tasted fantastic - it got really busy and with only 2 staff on it was a bit hectic but very enjoyable - love this restaurant!

Excellent food and good service but a little pricey when the Special Menu is not available. Never very warm some additional heating needed! Good discount for take aways.

We were greeted with a big smile and found the staff to be very friendly. The food was delicious, there was a good choice of dishes too.

Excellent food, excellent value and lovely staff. A great family meal was had by all. We will most definitely be returning in the near future.

We had a great meal there. It was 4 of us. The staff was very attentive. The ribs in a BBQ sauce are to die for. Overall great place to have a great meal.

Excellent food and service...will definately go again...staff went out of the way to explain options and also do a matching vegetarian option for one of our party.

The food and service were both great, and I think it was quite reasonable. Highly enjoyable, and a very cute setting. Curious location, but easy to find and plenty parking.

really nice food and service as usual eaten here several times before, large menu choice . if i had to pick we all found it a little cold in the restaurant last night . would like to see a healthy choice section on the menu too :)

It was our first visit to The China Room. We found the staff to be friendly and helpful, service was good, our evening wasn't rushed and the food was lovely.

first time for us eating at the china rooms and i have to say the food is lovely the staff are nice and polite service was excellent, i think we have just found our new Favourite Chinese restaurant , dont let the outside put you off as its really nice inside , would recommend to anyone

The dining area was quite small and extremely noisy with lots of large parties. Service was fast and the food was very good. Left as soon as we had finished eating due to the volume of noise. I would go back but maybe midweek when it woul be less packed.

Good food, reasonable prices Monday to Thursday 3 courses for £12.95, drinks a bit pricey, pint of Boddingtons draught £3.50 Pint of Coke £3.20 but the food makes up for it, nice decor and pleasant staff.

Table ready when we arrived followed by the usual good service and excellent food. Would have been a six but where have the tablecloths gone?

this is the second time ive been to china rooms and it was just as good as the first time if not better. Great service and even better food! I will be going back sometime soon

Fabuolous food, servive and the magician is brilluant!! Great ribs and duck in pancake not too pricey! Goid selection of wines too. Its a recommend!

Great grub, friendly, sociable staff. Go on a Thursday when Stu Clarke is playing guitar....he is a superb pro musician who lives locally and practices his arrangements of popular songs (when he's not touring). The place gets busy and does takeaway so don't expect fast food!

We opted for the Sunday to Thursday special at £12.95 for 3 courses.Excellent value,great food,really good service and the atmosphere was also very nice.would go again.

The China Room is in a good location with plenty of parking spaces. We were served straight away even though the restaurant was very busy and the staff were pleasant and very helpful. The food is tasty and they serve generous portions at a reasonable cost. Overall I would recommend this restaurant.

Very good cuisine at a decent price. Friendly and helpful staff. 3 course special had lots of options. There were 9 of us dining and everybody enjoyed it. Plenty free parking space a bonus !

As always the food was excellent and the service was discrete but prompt, all in all one of the best resteraunts of all ethnic varieties I have visited

Superb food and overall experience. The chef was very helpful regarding our gluten free requirements and the food was delicious. The only slight downside was the waiting time between courses, but they were busy and apologised.
