Made to feel at ease as soon as got there at the bar. We arrived earlier than planned and it was no trouble to arrange the food earlier. The food was plentiful and well presented. We asked for more gravy, and it was no problem. Everyone was courteous and timely and overall it was a lovely calm environment to talk, relax and eat and dink. The price was right too. PERFECT way to spend a Sunday lunch time with friends 👍👍👍
Very good alround very good restaurant and very easy to book on line nice to get emails on the day to remind you of times
As always absolutely fab and service was great great food at reasonable price. Have been many many times and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to others
Lovely old building with open fires and true character. Very enjoyable meal. Next time we're in the area we'll come back and stay in one of the rooms which also look good.
Excellent!! Mother's Day with my Wife & Boys, Great Food and Great service, a credit to all the staff as it was really busy, Thank you Andy F & Family
Our favourite restaurant, excellent service, amazing food all in a beautiful setting. The best steak ever so much so that we seldom have anything else
This was our first visit along with family. We had 2 teenagers with us who were well catered for despite odd requests. We had a lovely round table so we could all see one another and most of all the food was lovely. I haven't had a burger for years! Thank you - we will be visiting again!
We went due to some recommendations but unfortunately we were quite disappointed in the food and felt it was relatively expensive in comparison to other venues. The room was uncomfortably warm and deserts were served cold.
Yet another very pleasant meal at The Chequers. It is becoming our pub of choice, consistently high standard of food and service, welcoming and reasonably priced.
Very buzzy friendly place. Visited whilst in the area and would definitely return. Great stock of gin and wines. Overall food slightly overcooked, fish cakes, fish and chips. However waiting staff considering how busy it was were very attentive.
Good price. Reasonable quality. A tiny problem rectified really well. No complaints. Food pretty good, nice bottle of wine and fantastic gin! Spot on for value.
Lovely place restaurant area nice and open not on top of each other the entrance /bar area was cosy it was very busy so u felt in the way occasionally of the waitresses taking food . The meal was lovely and we got great service
I usually love the chequers, but the visit this weekend left me feeling disappointed. We arrived and our table wasn't ready (not really a problem) but when it was ready nobody told us, so I had to go to the bar half an hour later and ask if our table was ready, to which I was told 'yeh, it's been ready a while'. After this service was pretty slow and the waitresses didn't know why the daily specials were. The food was ok, but far from the best food I've had at the chequers previously. We asked for the bill several times but ended up giving up as it didn't arrive and went to the bar to pay. Sadly, shortly after leaving the restaurant I became quite ill, with the symptoms suggesting some sort of food poisoning. I didn't notice a problem with the food whilst eating, but something clearly wasbt right. I hope that I just caught the chequers on a bad day, as I previously really enjoyed coming here, but I would like to see drastic improvements in the service before I return next and to hope that nobody else became sick after eating here. If this does not improve I won't be returning again.
restaurant was very busy but excellent setting, food & service. they called taxi and let me keep my car in car park overnight. was again busy when picked car up next day
Food was excellent but we had to ask twice for our order to be taken after approx. 25mins of being seated. Also had to ask twice for a bottle of drinking water. It seemed as though the restaurant was struggling to manage the number of diners that had been booked in.
Been to this restaurant many times and always been very good - that's why we were back! However, I have to say the food wasn't as good as previous visits - still much better than a lot of places. I also thought the service was poor last night as well. After taking of order, we were told bread would arrive. This didn't happen and when our starters arrived we had to ask for it. The after our main course, plates we not cleared away for 15-20minutes by which time nobody was bothered about a desert or coffee. I'm sure it was just an "off day".
Excellent meal, all three course were delicious, staff were attentive and efficient, a lovely setting and atmosphere as always. Will definitely be going back soon.
Delicious food, warm atmosphere, lovely open fire. Great venue. We are regulars and it always delivers. I had the scallops to start followed by the flat iron steak frites, delicious!
Comfortable room, lovely breakfast , great location and friendly staff . We will be returning for longer next time . The dining option in the inn was excellent also .
Excellent service, amazing food, super efficient staff - our every request catered for with a smile. Looking forward to visiting the Chequers Inn again very soon
Extremely friendly staff who were attentive. The service was very good and we didn't have to wait long before our food arrived. The standard of food was excellent.😊
Food was excellent and reasonably priced. Was very busy when we arrived, but the table was ready within 5 minutes, and the service was acceptable. The drinks came quickly but the food order took longer. Happily we were a group of four, so it didn't matter too much. We will return.
The only problem was the tap water in the bottles they had a strong smell and taste of chlorine. Do not know why this was.
So worth the 45 minute drive from Nottingham to visit the Chequers, warm welcome, attentive service throughout. Lovely atmosphere, raging log fire, perfect for a January day. Sunday lunch, excellent produce, well prepared, will visit again in Spring the surrounding countryside will be a picture. Thanks
We do like the building and the general atmosphere and on a previous visit everything was good and we had thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. However on this occasion there seemed to be some problems. Early in the day I sent an email request to you, to have a wine served as an aperitif: this was not forthcoming or mentioned, just the ordering of drinks. When at table the party ordered from the menus handed out but the member of of staff returned, full of apologies to say that three out of the six were not available. All three were lobster. Reorders were necessary. The length of time from orders to service was quite extensive. My scampi and fish gave the impression that it had been standing too long before being served. I did not want address any complaint at the time because my wife's son was treating us for her birthday, so I did not wish to cause any embarrassment. Overall somewhat disappointing I regret to say.
fab as normal , service and food both excellent , been many times and the standards never drop , always friendly and helpful staff, very relaxing
This was my first time to chequers in a long time and I was very impressed. We had Great food, well timed service and lovely setting.
Excellent as ever. Great pub, lovely staff, superb food. Very attentive and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble and a great way to end the year
The chequers is a wonderful restaurant in a picturesque location. Welcoming, attentive staff and excellent food served in a cosy environment. Will be returning soon!
Fabulous food.. best sticky toffee pudding ever! Lovely surroundings, elegant and non pretentious, very friendly staff .. only negative is we weren't very warm hence 5 out of 6. But overall experience was excellent plus our little dog came too! We will definitely be back.
Country pub with log fires and vEry good atmosphere and friendly attentive service. Has a good menu and the food issue excellent, would go again.
Consistently excellent - I've been coming here for lunch for around 20 years and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. The Chequers salad is unusual and delicious and great value for money.
Good menu and good wine list . We had an excellent lunch. The steak and the fish and chips were both very good. The service and environment were also good. Would definitely go back.
Overall excellent food, nice to have a number of different areas to eat in. We were right next to fire on table 31 lovely and cosy. They had run out of pork so my son and i had the beef and my wife the fish. Had to wait a little for the table but not excessive. Will certainly go back Jeff Old
Excellent setting service & food. A warm welcome received. Extensive choice on the menu yet all freshly cooked and local produce. Looking forward to my next visit.
Food and service were both extremely good even though it was busy. Bar and waiting staff were really helpful and friendly. I would recommend. THE Chequers
Food lovely as usual, we are regular visitors here and has never disappointed, very busy and sometimes a little noisy but that shows its popularity
A great Sunday lunch! A warm and friendly greeting and a surprising choice of beers and other drinks. Service with a smile at the table and great food. Nothing rushed and nothing seemed too much trouble. We will be back
Usual brilliant food and service. Great ambience and a warm welcome. Good choice on menu and served promptly. great wine choice with bargain bin ends.
Beautiful surroundings bar had nice open fire going. Great range of beers to choose from. Waitress very attentive helping my wife sort out gluten free options. Meals came out quickly the pie of the day was fantastic. Will certainly use the Chequers again. Dave-Jeanie
Excellent service. More sophiscated menu compared to standard local pubs. Great ambience, loved the log fires in the bar and restaurant areas. Would go again.
As usual the food and the dining experience was fantastic, seasonal and local produce on the menu. We will be going back again there soon.
The Chequers Inn is one of Belviors gems. A wonderful ambience with a roaring fire - which is in the bar area. We ate in the Bake House which is lovely. The staff were extremely friendly and very attentive during our stay. We were there on a Sunday so opted forthe Roast Sirloin, which was served with all the trimming. Delicious! I would recommend this.
Was excellent food really enjoyed it and the staff where really friendly and also the atmosphere and the place is amazing will be coming back
Love the chequers inn we booked for 3 but ended up with 4 and it was no problem for them. Food great lovely real fire to warm us on a cold winters day what else could we ask for 😍
Excellent service and venue. The staff were very attentive throughout our meal. We would recommend this place to friends and family and we will be back soon
The new restaurant area was loud, clinical and not fitting with a country pub experience. The food was average compared to how amazing it used to be. Quite disappointing in comparison.
Fabulous lunch- great quality food. Having moved out of the area 10 years ago I was hoping that the food would be as good as I remembered and I wasn't disappointed.
Very cosy atmosphere, friendly welcome, nice menu with good options with the specials and monthly menu. The Bakehouse was a nice dining experience and the service from start to finish was great along with the food.
Menu choice extremely good and food excellent (though why there is a supplement for Road Beef is unclear), staff extremely friendly and helpful. Would visit again
