Food was excellent, very comfortable atmosphere and staff lovely. Touch on the pricey side though and not the quickest of service. Dessert all sounded stodgy when I fancied something light, plus it was told to us verbally, I like to look at a dessert menu so didn't have one especially as was kept waiting a little to long after being told what was on offer.
This was our first visit to The Chancel and we were far from being disappointed. My wife and I celebrated our 44th Wedding anniversary at here and had a lovely time. The atmosphere was great and all the staff were so helpful and friendly with nice welcoming smiles. They were also very efficient and attentive. We were fortunate also that there was a small hen party there who we interacted with, which made the evening even more pleasant with lots of humour. The best bit of all was the food. The portions were generous and not skimpy like a lot of a la carte restaurants. The Chancel gave quality and quantity (but not overloaded) and the food was not only very flavoursome but of good quality. The prices were also very reasonable. We plan to go back very soon and we will be bringing friends here also for a meal when we have visitors. Well done all at the Chancel.
Very friendly attentive waitress and great range of choices in gluten free available and tasted delicious. Have been a few times before and still maintains same quality
Lovely little bistro/wine bar. As I am coeliac they were able to do virtually everything on the menu gluten free. Very friendly service and great food. Only 5 mins walk from the Theatre Royal so great for pre-theatre meals.
Pleasant wine bar and bistro, as easy to drop in to for wine by the glass (from a choice of around 40) as to book a meal of their tasty unpretentious food.
