good value very frendly I had steak cooked perfect will go there again nice and easy when going to therata wife also had steak she had it cooked diferent than me but again cooked perfect.

Went here for a family birthday meal - Loved every minute of it! Amazing atmosphere if you want a quiet or romantic dinner. Had 3 courses and every one was amazing. The belly pork was cooked to perfection, best I’ve ever tasted. Service was amazing as well, we were served by a man (can’t remember your name!!) where nothing was too much trouble. Overall a really amazing night and can’t wait to go back again

Awesome. Great gins; blanch bait highly recommended; great steak; great crab salad. Fries perfectly cooked. Attentive and friendly service. Reasonably priced - and so so tasty!

Superb food freshly cooked and the staff were excellent and courteous would recommend this place to anyone. We will definitely be paying another visit soon.

Food was very good but the venue was really let down by a poor response from the manager concerning a problem with the initial drinks order - her attitude was extremely disappointing when the waitress did bot bring a drink in a bottle as requested. She came to the table with an aggressive attitude, saying it was not their policy to put bottles on the table - despite me already having one on the table! Within 20 minutes we saw three more bottles delivered to nearby tables. Then it took nearly 50 minutes for the first course to arrive - with two other nearly tables arriving 10-15 minutes after us managing to get their orders before us - coincidence!?

Fantastic food and atmosphere as per usual! Really recommend the Five Foot Track Australian Shiraz. Thanks Jamie and Paula for a lovely evening, we will be back again soon!

Most things are naturally gluten free which is clearly marked on the menu. There is a lot of choice. The food was fantastic and the staff were very good.

We had the pre theatre meal. Unfortunately I had a large piece of grit in my starter but fortunately did not break a tooth .... There was a refund made though we did have to remind them........ The other two companions were happy enough with their meal. Service was good and attentive.

Excellent food, great location, and good value. Recommended for those wanting conviviality in central Plymouth. At first I was wary of being seated downstairs - but it was fine.

Everything was excellent, service and fish platter very good but the fish pie was ordinary, too much potato and not enough fish and quite bland. However, I would not hesitate to revisit

We chose from the Pre Theatre menu. There was plenty of choice for everyone's taste, the food was excellent and very good value. Would definitely recommend it

Lovely atmosphere, friendly owners, happy to accommodate needs, good menu selection, great fresh tasting food. What would have made it a 5/5 is that if the lady serving, doing drinks and taking bill payments had more help to keep up with demand.

Amazing food and fantastic service! The wine and chips were fantastic. The venue is a small space but you still feel like you’re not on top of each other. It felt lovely and cosy!!! We loved it. Would definitely recommend!

We had a lovely evening with our friends at The Chancel, the staff were friendly, attentive and very helpful, and our meals delicious. I had the fish pie which was very good although it was only white fish whereas i personally would have liked a bit of salmon and smoked fish to be included. This however did not stop my enjoyment at all. My husband had the swordfish with skinny fries and salad which he thoroughly enjoyed. We would definitely recommend visiting here and will definitely be coming back.

The restaurant was quiet because it was cold, wet and midweek. The welcome, the service and the meals were excellent - quite the best we have had at the Chancel for some time. Our son was with us and he enjoyed it immensely. So satisfied customers in every respect.

Very nice food and lovely atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and would highly recommend. Had the pre theatre menu and the strawberry and rhubarb cheesecake was delicious. WIll be back!

Cute little restaurant with friendly and helpful staff, fast service and tasty food. Menu was extensive with lots of yummy options and good wine. The afternoon tea offer looked good, we will be back to try it!

Fantastic in food, quality service. Love this place. They make you feel welcome and nothing is too difficult. We had a gluten free request which was accommodated for without batting an eyelid.

Ive been here twice now and both times the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming as well as attentive. The atmosphere was great and the food was brilliant. Looking forward to going again and trying more tapas! :)

Great welcome, great ambience, great service and great food! This has become our regular restaurant in the town centre for lunches and pre-theatre. We love it!

First visit last night will certainly come back loved the atmosphere food very good and service great would recommend to anyone . I’ve had many pre theatre menus which have been lacking but here they are of great quality and quantity

A very enjoyable evening. The staff were friendly and attentive. They welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. The place is quirky but relaxing. An extensive and varied wine list gave us a lot of choice. The service was efficient without being overbearing. The food was very good indeed,my scallops in a half shell were delicious. My wife had blanchebait and they too went down well. I chose the lamb rump and this was cooked and seasoned very well indeed. My wife chose swordfish and again this proved to be an excellent choice. The overall experience was enjoyable and we would recommend this place highly.

A lovely relaxing pre theatre meal. Excellent food and a varied choice of wines by the glass, half bottle or bottle. Very welcoming and pleasant staff. Great atmosphere after a long drive!

First customers of the day but warm welcome, very friendly staff, tapas (x6 between two) were just right for lunch although without groupon voucher would have been a bit pricey. Steady stream of seemingly regular customers, and enjoyed some good banter with a local couple. My wife felt she was rather pushed into having a new non-alcoholic drink rather than the water she originally ordered, but this was a minor facet of really good customer service. Wine was sound but again seemed slightly overpriced although a large glass did suffice for me duringthe duration of our visit. Background music very 70s - 90s easy listening stuff, which probably reflects the age of the average lunch time clientele - all in all an enjoyable experience and would definitely return for the right occasion.

We had a pre theatre meal at the Chancel with some friends on my birthday - excellent value, lovely food and very efficient and friendly service. We would definitely visit again and will try it for lunch next time.

We visited The Chancel for a joint birthday meal, the food and wine were excellent and very reasonably priced. The waiting staff were lovely, as was the ambiance. Would thoroughly recommend.
