Food was fantastic and staff were attentive, efficient and friendly. Warm cosy atmosphere . Staff took time to describe each course and enjoyed chatting to young waitress who genuinely seemed to enjoy chatting to customers without appearing to be making an effort.

The food was fantastic and the service was excellent! Even a fussy eater like me could have eaten the whole menu. Excellent selection of wines and Ales.

Food was fantastic, very reasonably priced! Staff were wonderful and accommodating the entire evening as I prepared to propose to my partner, its certainly become a night to remember and the cellar door really helped make the night!

Excellent food and service! Great place and experience! My family and I felt very comfortable! The créeme brulee was delicious! The salmón great and itbaldo has an excellent menú for kids!

Food was lovely and the staff were equally lovely. Only small criticism would be the slight lack of choice on the menu as the options available were quite basic e.g. burger/chips, fish & chips.. however saying that the fish & chips were really tasty!!

I reserved a table for 3 for lunch. The waitresses were very helpful and friendly. The food were amazing, and the latte was very nice too! I would come back again if I ever visit Edinburgh again and would definetly recommend this restaurant to anyone who want some delicious food with a good price! :)

Lovely little restaurant for a relaxed evening. Food was delicious and the staff had a great sense of humour! Will absolutely be back for seconds!

The meals were good but the service was slow we are still waiting on dessert but very faste with the bill very poor sorry whould not go back

Food was delicious but meal (2 courses) took about 3.5hrs. Staff were very apologetic and offered complimentary nibbles and hot drinks but overall still a very long time. Good food though!

Wonderful, humorous service and outstanding food. The Cullen skink is the best in Edinburgh. The menu is excellent and offers very good value for money.

The menu was very reasonably priced at £12 for 2 courses. I had broccoli soup which was lovely and vegetarian haggis which was so good. .

Amazing food and service - not a finger to put on it - and reasonable prices. I celebrated my birthday there and they were a part of making that evening memorable.

The restaurant was very busy and very noisy. The service was very friendly but slow. My main course was chicken breast which was tough, and the whole plateful looked as if it had been hanging around for some time. My friend had the wrong order delivered, and when she got what she ordered, it was undercooked, tepid and a very small portion. Dessert was delicious, but overall, not up to the standard which I'd experienced on previous visits. I won't be going back.

Great service, nice romantic ambience but with loads of space for bigger parties, food was very tasty and well presented. The traditional nature of the menu makes this a brilliant place to sample some well executed Scottish cuisine.

Brilliant food! Squeezed us in at rather short notice but made us feel incredibly welcome. The venison was delicious and the pudding to die for.

All of the food and service was truely excellent but the highlight was the chocolate dessert combined with Glenmorangie whiskey - out of this world!

Super friendly staff, beautiful dishes, lovely setting, we had a very good time. The haggis was our favorite starter, the chocolate our favorite dessert. We would definitely recommend coming here.

Lovely and attentive service in an elegantly relaxed atmosphere. Soup was delicious, whereas the veggie haggis burger left a lot to wish for. It wasn’t bad per se, just not as good as I would have expected from that kind of establishment. Fish and chips looked amazing but I didn’t try it. Probably very good for meat and fish eaters, not so much for vegetarians. Overall I might still go back when I want to bring someone else out for dinner in the city centre, provided that they’re neither vegetarians nor vegans.

It was a great welcome that we received, the room was simple and yet elegant and so was the food. very good price quality ration and the waitress gave us twice excellent recommendations. overall great experience and strongly recommend it

Thoroughly enjoyed meal. Staff attention was superb. This is second time at the Cellar Door and was not disappointed. Well worth a visit, or two.

The staff was very kind and helpful. We didn't have to wait long for the food, but the food was not spectacular, just good. The stairs to go down the restaurant is an issue for older people.

The staff were friendly but they got a few things wrong with our orders. Food was okay but not brilliant, sorry but we left feeling that we probably wouldn't try it again.

It was super busy when we arrived and it took a little time to be greeted, but once we were seated the service was excellent and the food was fantastic. A favourite place to go to and they didn’t disappoint. The staff are all very friendly which makes a visit all the more enjoyable.

Food wasn't great at all, £14 for a haggis neeps and tatties main, portion was tiny, hardly any haggis on the plate, and what was there was dry.Could have made better myself at home....

Good food, good company and good service. First time at Cellar door for one couple and they were very happy with the choice or restuarant and quaility of food and wine.

Disappointing. Have been before when choice and quality was much better. Chose fish and chips -chips were poorly cooked. However, sticky toffee pudding was excellent. Staff friendly but felt a little rushed. Will not rush back.

Amazingly busy during the festival and the food was incredible as were the staff, a great experience all round. I’d especially recommend the venison 👍

The food and service at The Cellar Door are always outstanding! Both adults and kids in the group were delighted with the lunch. The atmosphere is always so nice too!

The food was tasty and the service was good. We all enjoyed it. I was there two nights in a row with different people. Clean plates all round - 10 meals in all!

Excellent freshly sourced food served by a friendly team. Portion sizes were just right. Both food and wine represented good value, related to the good quality.

This was a delight for my 6 companions and after a performance at The Edinburgh Festival. The salmon, venison and polenta dishes were all appreciated and the chocolate ganache was sublime. As a group of singers we loved the background music and gave an impromptu performance for staff! Will definitely return.

Perfect in every way, lovely atmosphere, great service, friendly and attentive while unobtrusive, with delicious quality food. Have visited before and will do so again.

Overall this was a great lunch. The service was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent. Great price for two courses. Ticks all the boxes.
