This was our second visit to The Cellar Door and it did not disappoint. We would thoroughly recommend a visit, great food and good service at a reasonable price.
Fantastic! Would totally recommend. Excellent food, really authentic Scottish cuisine, couldn't fault a thing. Very friendly staff, able to give helpful recommendations, and lovely ambience.
Very good. The food very well prepared. And although the menu is not long they hsve dofferent choices to suit everyone. Nice environment. I even asked a special gift and they arranged everything. I regret only one waitress was having a bad day, abd was a bit rude. So only for that i dont give max score.
Food was good, service was good and staff were very pleasant. The restaurant is a very pleasant space, well laid out and clean. Our second visit and would go again.
Easy to reserve table on line. Extremely nice, friendly and courteous waitress. Food was luvly. Perfectly cooked. Pleasant decor and comfortable setting. Arrived a bit earlier than planned but no problem as our table was ready. Had invited visitor from Malaysia (first time in Scotland). This restaurant was a great experience for him tasting good Scottish fayre. We'll be back.
very friendly staff, lovely food and great value early dinner menu. Central location and just across the road from Greyfriars Kirk and close to the Royal Mile.
Great food, great service, but the atmosphere was the only downfall. The lack of people eating out on a Tuesday night can not be blamed on them however. It was all in all a fabulous meal, expensive yet not unreasonably priced for the delicious food
Really nice decor, food was lovely and fresh, price was decent and staff were nice, but not overly friendly. House wine was lovely and the menu is small but of good quality.
The five of us had a lovely pre concert dinner - delicious food, very nice ambience, staff attentive and delightful. Will definitely return. Thank you.
It's always great to be in The Cellar Door: good food, nice drinks, great service, lovely atmosphere. Even the location, on the busy George IV Bridge, is not in your mind when you take the steps down into the restaurant.
Booked for five other tables running over time but was accommodated without a problem amazing food and brilliant staff , had the pre theatre menu great value
Lovely place, the food was great and the service was super. This is a great spot for a nice dinner in Edinburgh. Stop I'm if you are in town.
As always the cellar door served fantastic food in a great atmosphere. Amazing for gluten free. I will be going back for more in the near future.
The early dinner menu was good value for money and a good choice available. Nice atmosphere and good service was received. I would recommend this restaurant.
Fantastic service, lovely atmosphere. We were well looked after and the waitress paid particular attention to the fact that it was one of our parties birthday. When dessert was served it was decorated with a candle. The food was very tasty, well presented and very good value for money. We had 3 courses for £20. Would recommend and will be back again for another team meal out :)
Great decor, lovely staff, starters fantastic, some mains good but chicken a bit dry All beautifully presented., had one pudding between us which was delicious . Would happily go again
A lovely little restaurant with very good value set menu. Staff friendly and efficient. The worst thing is the stairs! I hadn't realised the venue was downstairs, even though you enter from George IV Bridge level. Hardly their fault though! Interestingly, as we got up to leave after lunch, there was a chocolate workshop starting to take place and that looked good too. I would definitely return.
Perfect meal and kids menu with a lot of choices
Everything OK. Food was just what we wanted, very good value for money, the service was faultless. Reservation made via the web site, all very easy to enjoy.
Small concealed entrance lead to a larger restaurant downstairs. Food was amazing, not huge portions but we were all stuffed after. Presentation and taste were 5* and the service was every bit as good, there was 5 of us and a couple of quite fussy eaters but nothing was too much trouble for the staff who were extremely polite, friendly and accommodating. Have already recommended to friends and I will definitely return again very soon.
good food, good service. Try if. best in town. we will be back, comming all the way from Denmark. c u soon. Thanks for a lovly meal.
Great restaurant with friendly staff and fantastic food! Would definitely recommend to others who visit Edinburgh. Plenty of dishes to choose from and lovely cocktails.
Great food and lovely atmosphere. Was lucky to get a table at the last minute. Prices were reasonable considering the good standard of food and service.
The food and service is absolutely phenomenal as well as the cozy atmosphere, which is traditional Scottish with a modern feel. So good we went two nights in a row!
I dont write reviews but need to rave abiut the Cellar Door!! Fantastic food in a hidden gem- perfect for a group of 6. Would go back in a heartbeat! The waitresses were amazing welcoming and warm. No negative to say!
The Food was excellent, lovely atmosphere, very accessable, friendly and accommodating staff. I will certainly return in the future, highly recommended to others. We managed to get a table a few hours prior
Always a safe bet to return to. Remains consistently good in terms of both menu and service. Well worth a visit in my humble opinion.
Had a lovely evening. Great service. Lovely atmosphere. We would highly recommend to eat there. Very relaxed and friendly. Food was amazing. 5 star service
Excellent food and atmosphere, only reason its a 5 and not 6 is that they never asked if I wanted another drink and it took a while to get the bill and leave. Never thought id complain at not being 'sold to'. Would go again and thoroughly recommend this place. Haggis was delicious.
Lovely food. Fantastic environment. Great menu. Would definitely go again. The chicken ballotine was a splendid dish and we thought that the service was fantastic.
The food was absolutely fine. The atmosphere was good. But the menu was a bit disappointing. I would have like to see more Scottish classics.
Lovely menu with varied choice. Starter, main & pudding were excellent, enough room for all 3 courses. For a small intimate restaurant the tables were nicely spread out. Friendly welcoming staff.
Lovely food, good scottish menu pudding was lovely very nice service.did get a bit busy but staff were very attentive.would certainly recommend tothers.will be back soon.
Food freshly prepared, lovely ambiance and friendly staff. Service excellent, wine reasonably priced too with good selectipn of beers Will dine here again, we really enjoyed it
My family and I had a great time, I had not been before but others said it was as good as it had ever been. The staff were helpful and the food very good. Will go back.
Very good food. Fish cake fantastic Perfectly cooked steak. Will defernatly come again, service could of been a tad better. Waited 10min before a drink order and there was no check backs. The waitress also cleared the table in silence and didn't ask any questions about the food. But it was great.
Excellent food and very friendly and helpful service. Would definitely recommend the restaurant to friends. The place had a great atmosphere and would book again if we visit Edinburgh again.
Highly recommended. The venison was amazing. White chocolate brownie and chocolate orange bread and butter pudding also really nice. Really enjoyed our meal here and will definitely come back
Great selection on the menu and staff very helpful and friendly. Situated in a very historic area in Edinburgh. We will be back again for a meal.
Great food, incredibly nice staff, very good menu, so everyone will be happy there! Good for vegetarians, too, dishes like veggie haggis and risotto are offered
The food was overpriced for the quality received. The service was good, but I would not go back again due to the food being mediocre.
Lovely restaurant staff very nice, although a little expensive for what you get. Two burgers and 4 beers nearly £60 but very tasty if a little over priced
The service was good and friendly, but the food was sub-standard. Two of us ordered the vegetarian hotpot, which the waitress reassured us that it was good and had a selection of root vegetables. It actually had used obviously frozen peas and corn as well as some grated carrot in a flavourless brown gravy. It looked like a sad school dinner. Given that it is August, it seemed ridiculous that some fresh vegetables hadn't been used.
Lovely restaurant good food and friendly staff, also a good vibrant atmosphere, I would have no hesitation recommending The Cellar Door to friends or family.
