its was ok but normally love one of your pies but none on offer, burger frozen 80's special. Pork was alright but you only need one slice.

Lovely table location in the corner very cosy! Good service, friendly staff, food was good. The pork belly was a bit tough (needed more long slow cooking to make it meltingly soft) but the sea bream was great! Apple crumble topping was a bit weird - not proper crumble topping! 😕

The food was nice, as it always is. The waitress was a little bit, how can I put this… abrupt!

Was very busy when we arrived so took quite a while to get water and menus and actually order our food. However once that was done, the food came quickly and was delicious. The waitress even pointed out a food offer that we weren’t aware of to reduce our bill!

Lovely food and service. Just be aware that if you're in the back room and there's a big party dining, (around 20 people) it's very loud and you'll end up shouting across the table to hear each other.

Service was poor. We were served our first course which was fine. After a long wait we were brought some main courses which were not ours. After an even longer wait we were given our food was not at all good. There was obviously a big problem in the kitchen which lead to a disappointing meal which the discount may acknowledge but doesn’t solve. Having been to the Bolingbrook many times before I have to say I wouldn’t rush back

Very enjoyable Sunday lunch visit. Very accommodating re some of our party being late, no pushing us to hurry along! All had Sunday roasts, with pork belly voted the best choice as it was excellent! Kudos for serving an amazingly good value Pinot Noir slightly chilled, or ‘frais’ as the French would say. Will definitely be back.

Incredibly noisy restaurant. Not a pleasant atmosphere for a quiet catch-up. They need something to absorb the sound. We had a variety of starters for a main - calamari, baked Camembert, halloumi, sausages. They weren’t great at all.

All good until around 10pm when service just totally fell away. All the waiting staff appeared far more keen on cleaning cutlery presumably so they could leave earlier? It was impossible to get their attention so I went to the bar to order. Irony of ironies the barman asked me to move to the other side as where I was standing was reserved for the service area. I pointed out that there clearly was no service so there was no issue with me blocking the area. He took my order for three drinks and 5 minutes later only one arrived. It was a shame because until then it had been very good. Will definitely return but maybe it’s something the management can discuss with the staff. Food very good.

They had run out of Chicken and Mushroom Pies, our first choice even though it was only 7.30pm when we ordered. The chicken burger I ordered to replace it was OK but had to be re-cooked as the first one was covered in a chilli sauce, which I couldn't eat. Once you had taken off the bun (which I did not want) you were left with a small chicken portion with some relish + chips. The calamari I had to start was delicious. The bill was reasonable, the staff were lovely, friendly and helpful and even though our food could have been better we will definitely go back.

We had drinks before our meal then ordered starters after asking to be served as we were waiting at least 15 mins after we were all seated at our table.. The staters were fine & we had a bottle of the house red & a bottle of the house white was very dry and very acidic the white was nice… We had our mains after again having to ask to be served and the pasta was not very good at all and one of our party would not finish his meal… Then we waiting again for a long time to be asked for what we wanted for desert and we ordered another bottle of red wine this time the Malbec and that was nice.. I go to the Bolingbroke often and have even booked for Xmas lunch for the 3rd time.. My guests said they would not go there again & would not recommend the Bolingbroke to friends £ family.. All very embarrassing for me as I recommend here for a friends get together! I will be sending emails to my guests tomorrow to apologise… Not good at all Kr Peter

The food was very good. The staff didn't ask part way through the meal how everything was. We had to try and attract the staff for drinks and the staff. Overall I've always enjoyed visiting the Bolingbroke.

The service and food were good. The overall experience slightly spoiled by the number of families with small children. Was rather like dining in a nursery! Kids were being kids, it was the parents with an inflated sense of entitlement and disregard for others which irked somewhat.

Fabulous place and literally amazing staff, So helpful and friendly. The Menu was fairly limited (in our view) with about only 6 mains available. We both managed to choose meals which had already sold out unfortunately-The Steak and ale pie for example, a big hitter on any menu but all sold by 7.45pm. We ended up with a beef burger and a chicken burger which were good (but a bit boring for such a fab place) as there was nothing else which grabbed us. Overall a fantastic venue but the menu needs a few more choices for mains, and definitely more Pies! We will be back.

Avoid at all costs the Portobello mushroom steaks in tomato & chilli sauce. They are not Portobello mushrooms, they are not formed into steaks and the sauce was swimming in oil - disgusting! A chef with any training would not have served that. No protein. Terrible value for money!
