The Black Bull in Escrick

Found this little gem totally by accident whilst browsing for somewhere to eat whilst staying in Escrick. The ambience is fantastic. The staff so friendly it's unbelievable but it's totally true. Variety of the menu is very good as is the price. The portions are very generous and the food quality is also exceptional. Overall if I was staying close by again I would definitely eat here and I will definitely recommend that anyone needs to try the Bull

Very pleasant staff. Nice meal. A bit quiet for a Friday night. A slight problem with one of the meals but the offer of a free drink while we waited was very much appreciated. In the end only waited a couple of minutes.

Good hearty food, came out nice piping hot. The staff had a busy night in general but kept cool and remained attentive. I would have happily paid the same price for half the amount of food, portion size was fairly large. My only grumble is that my chips tasted a little fishy.

The pub situated in a lovely village is a really nice family place to eat and drink.the staff are brilliant.the food is excellent. Well worth a visit

The service was very good and the goats cheese started was excellent. The main course was good with home made Yorkshire Pudding and roast potatoes.

Food was nice ,service was efficient until dessert then waited too long for order to be taken so decided not to bother and asked for bill instead . Bill was promptly delivered followed by waiter to take our order for dessert! !!

Superb food and excellent staff. The menu is good with a reasonable choice. All the courses were excellent and the whole experience a delight. 10/10 We eat out on a regular basis as part f our work and social life. This meal and experience rates very highly on our personal experience of similar eateries in the UK. Worth a visit.

A comfortable and attractive pub with an appealing menu, friendly service and good value for money. A sign at the front door advertising for a full time chef was a little off putting - perhaps they should use social media instead for recruitment....

Very light and roomy interior. The staff where most helpful and pleasant. Four of us went and all four enjoyed our meals no faults at all. Will be sure to recommend this place .

First visit, excellent, very impressed with the service and the food, a great welcome the Yorkshire puddings were to die for. We will certainly come again

Food is always the top quality here. This is my favourite pub to eat in – staff are always so friendly and the food is delicious. Would highly recommend, my partner and I are a twenty minute drive from Escrick and we always try to visit at least once a month. Also know friends and family who cannot rate this place highly enough.

Excellent food and services, celebrating our 28th wedding anniversary, we both were very impressed with the pub itself and the menu which has lots of choice.

Arrived early, but they seated us quickly. They were friendly and great with the kids. Sunday Roast beef was fantastic and good sized portions. Service was good despite a couple of big bookings in the restaurant.

Excellent meal - great choice of gluten free options. Really enjoyed the meal - the beef was tender and the Yorkshire pudding was awesome. I would definitely come again.

Very over priced, also felt rushed to order even tho the pub was empty. Food was nice but had better. Been twice now but don't think I will be returning.

The food was very good. Surroundings very nice. The barmaid/waitress was on her own and she did a very good job. I don't know if she would have coped with many more customers. We were a party of 7 and I think another three twos came in.

Staff brilliant, restaraunt very nice, need more gluten free options shown on the menu and actually available on the night. Will return, food excellent quality And delicious.

Very good ambience, lovely warm log fires, friendly staff and the Sunday roast was good with large portions and piping hot. Car park small so maybe have to park on street.

My husband and I visited for food in December and had a wonderful meal, the steak pie was the best I've ever had couldn't fault anything 5*

Good good, great bar staff, waitress not at all confident or knowledgeable about the food. Very pleasant individual but three wrong dishes. Quickly sorted tho.

Lovely cosy pub with friendly staff and very good homemade food. The only disappointment was the breakfast as this was only continental with no option for a cooked breakfast.

Perfect staff. Perfect food. Excellent value for money. Yorkshire ale available and tasted wonderful. Recommend to all. Large real fire was a welcome on a cold night.

John and Gillian are doing a fantastic job at the Black bull. I had the most amazing Beef Curry. The staff were all very friendly which made our evening all the more enjoyable. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Although the food was excellent I felt the overall restaurant side lacked some ambience especially with the bright lighting, service was ok. nice fireside area for the cold nights.

Very nice meal, good service. The only down side was last orders at 9.50 pm. It was a Thursday night so not sure if this is the same over the weekend.

MEAL WAS GOOD AND THE STAFF VERY PLEASANT AND HELPFUL WILL CERTAINLY RECOMMEND TO OTHERS AND WILL USE IT OURSELVES AGAIN.THE INTERIOR OF THE PUB LOOKS VERY GOOD.

We had a very nice time at the black bull last night. The food was great, the service was good,a and reasonably priced. We certainly would recommend it to anyone.

The restaurant looks like a cosy pub, the food was excellent and the longer waiting time at least meant it was cooked fresh from scratch.

Food excellent, despite the fact that they were exceedingly busy they kept in on and was served with the usual way quality of and quantity.

we dined on a busy night and all the tables were in use. staff were very busy and this impacted slightly on wait times between courses. very good portion sizes hence good value rating. no issues regarding quality or taste. I had fish pie from the specials list which was quite creamy but the highlight was the quality of the accompanying vegetables. great parsnips! pleasant décor in the dining area.

Good service and excellent food when we visited for Sunday lunch. Will definitely return to this lovely pub when we are in the area again.

The Food was fantastic. Staff very friendly and like a bit of banter. Very homely atmosphere. Good value for money. Would definately visit again soon. Highly recommended

This was our 4th visit and we had always enjoyed the food, but this time we had to send the starters back as they were burnt and the main course was only ok. but even worse the service very poor, and on top of that when the bill came we had items to the value of over £20 on that we didn't have. Very disappointing.
