morrocan chicken a little dry with rice and pickled veg, drinks expensive, but friendly and nice old world surroundings and a lovely beer garden at the back.

Great service, friendly staff and amazing hearty food. Would definitely recommend it. The sun was shining when we visited so we got to sit in the beer garden too.

The food was really good, very tasty and well cooked and presented. The young man who served us was really cheerful and cracked a couple of jokes with us. The pub itself was delightful and it was nice to have drinks and a meal in a pub with such character and history. All in all, a good night was had by all.

Lovely old pub, in a delightful village, & nice to think ggggg-grandpa hoisted a tankard or two here in the 1720s! Excellent food, friendly staff! We liked option of reduced size meal, too. Dark beer was delicious, too. Hope to stop by again next trip south.

The restaurant was pleasantly busy, but not crowded. The staff were pleasant, friendly and helpful. The Sunday lunch menu provided a selection of starters and mains to suit all tastes. The food was of a good quality and served hot. We were particularly pleased with the varied selection of perfectly cooked vegetables. Overall a good meal at a reasonable price.

Excellent evening out at the Bingley Arms. The restaurant wasn't as busy as the rest of the pub (night of England match!), so we were able to relax and hear ourselves! Service was quick and efficient. There was a good choice on the main menu, but lots of other choice on the "specials" board. My starter of chicken liver pate was excellent, and surprisingly, enough "proper" Melba toast was provided for all the pate! The lamb shank was melt in the mouth yummy, served with a Yorkshire Pudding and delicious gravy (rather than "jus") and minted mash. Vegetables were served separately. My companions' choices of scampi and steak & ale pie were all pronounced excellent. A decent bottle of wine and 4 coffees finished a really good evening and we'll certainly be going again.

I would normally have given this place a 6 any day of the week. They just seem to be getting a little complacent and letting their standards slip a little - it is still good but it's just not great. The service was also a little bit wanting. Two people had their mains served. Then there was a 5 minute wait until one lot of potatoes arrived. Another 5 minutes before any cutlery arrived, 2 more mains came and then the veg followed by the remaining potatoes, then we had to wait for condiments. The first two diners were half way through their meal before the rest of us had even plated up. The staff don't seem to be able to work together as a team to ensure all the food arrives for one table at the same time. We do still recommend it to lots of other friends as they have a great chef.

It has been many years since we visited the Bingley Arms. We used to go regularly but stopped when the food became disappointing. It is refreshing to find that the food is of a good standard and the staff and surroundings equally good.

The pub is beautiful, food and service was average Sunday pub lunch standards; obviously a really popular place though, beer garden looks great for summer time.

Lovely restaurant with brilliant staff. Well-priced food that was of excellent quality. Only thing I can think of as a negative was the chimney/fireplace in the Snug needed a good sweep & clean; it was a little bit grubby & the room smelt sooty! A very minor quibble about an excellent venue.

VERY slow service. When the food finally arrived, one steak ordered medium rare arrived well done. All 4 steaks were dry, tasteless and of very poor quality. Their 2 for one offer on a Tuesday is obviously only possible by serviing low grade food. Other tables were complaining about the service (or lack of it). It's a great shame as this is a local pub with a lot going for it, but we will now go elsewhere for food.

A nice comfortable pub with very substantial and enjoyable food - you don't need a starter if you are having the steak and ale pie! Good wines by the glass and bottle.

If you would like to eat at a table surrounded by noisy foul mouthed drinkers, be served by a rude middle aged waitress who flies into a hissy fit when you inform her of the language you have endured. then addressed by a totally disinterested manager/owner, then this is the place for you. Three tables of diners adjacent to us also complained about the noise and behaviour of the drinkers, the response was a shrug and "what can we do? we've had a word with them........" The food was average and overpriced, we left most of our main courses as we couldn't wait to leave. The evening was further enhanced by one of the drinkers sitting by the exit to the smoking area, smoking in the bar with the door ajar. When I told the waitress, she said that this could not have happened!! if this site would accept a zero rating, that is what I would give. A never to be repeated experience. One final tip, book online, it guarantees you the worst table in the place.

The restaurant may have a valid claim for being the old pub in Britain but the place looked drab and ready for an update on the décor. Booked a table for 13:00 and arrived on time but it was 13.25 before someone took our drinks and food order. Not offered a menu on arrival, we did ask for some menus at about 13:15. Even two Ladies who left the Pub at about 13:20 (who frequently had Sunday lunch at this pub) commented that we had not any food served, in response I said they have not even taken our order yet. We all (3 people) had the same main course, steak and ale pie, which was served hot and in reasonable time after we had ordered. It was sound pub grub but not my idea of Gastropub dinning. We only had the one course and finished off with teas and coffee. When I asked for the bill I had at least another 10 minute wait as the staff were having problems in printing the bill from the electronic till. The pub was clearly doing sound business for a Friday lunchtime and my review is not consistent with what I have read in other review. However, I did a 240 mile round trip to take my 90 year old Mother in Law out for lunchtime treat for Mother’s Day and the experience fell well below expectations.

Well what can I say. We had booked a weekend away in our touring caravan for our anyversary, and when booking we looked online at nearby facilities. The Bingley Arms the local pub/resteraunt. I looked online and noted that Bingley Arms was the oldest pub in England which really appealed to us with its traditional character and charm. We booked in for Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised at the decor and facilities. The food was amazing along with fantastic service. I would recommend friends and family to eat here and I will be coming back in the near future.
