A last moment decision to visit the Bell for dinner. Booking via Quandoo was simple, got a table within the hour. The pub is friendly, the staff very helpful and the food was extremely nice, and came in generous portions. Mexican sharing platter (Nachos) and the Pie of the Day (beef) were excellent. No room for desserts! We'll be back.

Sat night. Ran out of prosecco, lamb, pie of the day, chicken and some steaks. Hardly any food choices left. Also asked to choose dessert before we'd eaten main as the kitchen wanted to close! Very disappointing.

Great food as always & very accommodating to our big group including children & dogs! Would recommend the meatballs & papardelle and the sticky toffee pudding is always a winner!

The ambiance was lovely. Good cafe au lait even though they weren't sure what this is. The main course was a bit disappointing; the stew was a bit thin and watery.

The staff were friendly and helpful but I found the food underwhelming. The plates for sharing as a starter were pretty average and the chicken I ordered for main was rather rubbery and tough, lacking in flavour and the meat content was sparse. I struggled to detect the piri piri marinade and the straw chips were a bit lack lustre. The chunky coleslaw was nice but it barely amounted to a dessert spoonful. The sweet potato chips my friends had were significantly tastier - that seemed to be the default carb offering, judging from the plates of food being served around us. Nice atmosphere but I expected better from the food.

Great food and service. They have a really varied menu, and all cooked from fresh ingredients. ( Try the peri peri spatchcock chicken, delicious ) I will definitely be back again.

Very noisy, probably because of lack of carpets and curtains. Somewhat slow service - but it WAS Bank Holiday Monday - and someone had forgotten to put the egg in the egg salad! But the food overall was good, and the beer (real ale) too. I think it deserves a four.

Nice food but service is very slow. Had to go to bar 3 times to finally get the bill. Need more staff but a nice pub.

The front staff were friendly and cooperative but it was very disappointing to find some options on menu were finished and on one starter the pancakes were gone and we given tortillas instead. We were also told there would've a 45 min wait for food as they had a rush on! As we had booked in advance we could have preordered our meal Abd all the above could have been avoided. After I complained we were given 25per cent off the bill. I would rather have had the correct menu and no delay!

Really friendly and pleasant service. Two things - maybe tell people when they book that there will be live (and LOUD) music. and teach the stuff how to make irish coffee !

Food normally excellent although today's Sunday roast was a little disappointing as the lamb and beef were very tough and full of gristle. Hoping it was a one off as normally I have nothing bad to say.

Great food with a broad range of choices on the menu which change pretty frequently. Wine selection is good and prices reasonable. Atmosphere is great whether for a date night or family meal. Service is friendly but at times feels a little too stretched due to lack of people working.

We live locally and can always count on The Bell for good food. The only downside is the lack of staff so the service is on the slow side, but, they are very friendly.

Apart from the serving staff who were very pleasant, but very few in number for the number of customers. The meal itself was extremely disappointing. Again, the staff were fighting a losing battle in terms of serving due to the limited number being used.thus the service was very slow.

Took friends from NZ to a place we like. Good food as always but disappointed having to wait a very long time for someone to acknowledge me at the bar to say we had arrived (one member of staff who had seen me but carried on filling a dishwasher and who then served someone else ahead of me who had arrived whilst I waited). After spending time studying menu two of the party wanted duck burger only to be told as we ordered them that no duck was available as no delivery had arrived. It would have been helpful to know this as we were handed the menu not as we placed the order. No bottle if sparkling water available either apparently due to the lack of delivery. Disappointing this time, and not consistent with our usual experience.

Staff really pleasant. We went for Sunday lunch and booked a table. The table was fine, and we ordered our food and drinks. The food took about 1 hr to arrive, and no one warned us of this. We both had Roast Beef, Yorkshire pudding and vegetables. It was delicious. the only problem was the meat was really really tough. We took loads home for our dog, as we could not cut through it. Also, they did not have French mustard. Puddings were delicious, although my pudding was supposed to be butterscotch ice cream, and although very creamy, tasted of vanilla. Overall very nice, and will visit again.

Perfectly good food and (when they were around) friendly staff. Sadly, no one seemed to have any idea what was going on. Had to ask to have starters removed as mains arrived. My seven year old had to remind the waiter about the bill. No interest in how we were enjoying our meal or if we needed more drinks. Everything slow. Felt like everyone was doing this for the first time.

We went last Saturday Evening as it seems to indicate that the have the best steaks .My son wanted a ribeye steak and was told they had run out I ordered a fillet steak with Bearnaise sauce and a little later was informed they had no Bearnaise sauce and was not offered a alternative . The Steak was mediocre the. Rest of the meal was just Ok . As my son is on a visit working here for about three months from over seas it was very diapointing and don't think we will be going again unless there is improvements

Usually when we eat at the Bell the food is perfect. However the sunday roast left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately due to lack of staff the service was poor, we had to wait over 5 minutes for the mint sauce and gravy to be brought to our table. there was quite a lot of gristle on the beef and the gravy was not very thick and a very miniscule amount of vegetables. This would not stop me from eating here again but would give sunday lunch a miss.

The roast dinner we had was lovely and I would eat there again. The only criticism is there was not enough staff to cope so we were left for quite a while, no condiments where brought to our table and there was no staff member to ask after the food was brought out. Also there was not enough gravy with the dinner I suggest supply a small jug for each table so the customer can have as much or as little as they require.

Its a nice pub but we did not know the quiz was on and the wait staff were quite grumpy. Efficient but grumpy. The menu was limited as it was Sunday which is understandable. Food was good.

Service was efficient, food was tasty and nicely presented. We had the roast beef with Yorkshire pudding. Yorkshire was beautifully risen and quantity of food on plate was not overwhelming. Highly recommended.
