Staff service excellent, ambience warm and inviting. Food very good ; presentation excellent and portions generous: Doreens black pudding flavoursome. Cannot comment on puddings as no room. Would recommend the signature wines, will be visiting again.
An absolutely delicious lunch .The set lunch was really good value. The service was very attentive. Staff were very friendly. We will definitely return in the near future.
Well presented good food. The only slight criticism was that the service lacked consistency. Too prompt first course long wait for second course. Chummy staff
This restaurant has a lovely ambience. I remember it as a pub only and the alterations made, the decor etc are really tasteful and give it a nice feel. The service was excellent from entering to leaving and the food was beautiful. The rice pudding based dessert was to die for. Well worth a visit.
Love this place and highly recommend it, we have had a few meals in the Bay Horse and it has always been 100% perfect. The food is top quality 👌
We had another first class evening at The Bay Horse, and yet again the food was excellent. The staff are always very helpful and most welcoming. It was rather noisy, this visit, but it is Christmas time and diners nearby were also enjoying their evening. We will be back . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Excellent meal and service, the staff were very acknowledging of our anniversary as well and put in a number of extra touches to enhance the special occasion. Steak was beautifully cooked and the dauphinois potato was different from what I’ve ever had. The “best of Bay Horse” desserts was also a great touch, allowing us to share and get to try a mini portion of each choice. The festive inspired rice pudding was particularly good. Overall a very positive experience and will return in the new year.
We’ve been several times to the Bay Horse and the food is always good as it was on this occasion. The service was very good and could not be faulted. However it was extremely noisy - due to a large party standing at the bar - so much so that it was hard to have a conversation. The table next to us was so close that we could easily have been sitting with them and they were shouting to each other in order to make themselves heard. All in all not what we’ve come to expect and given this was the only time my wife and I could find to go out prior to Christmas it was more than a bit disappointing. I’d certainly think twice about booking there in the near future given that it is not inexpensive.
Great food and atmosphere. Service was very slow. Even with the drinks!
Nice pub/restaurant in nice village. Very good food off a nice lunchtime menu du jour offering g really good value. An addition I enjoyed is the chance to enjoy some fine wines by the glass, a great idea for lunch time.
Excellent food and charming service. Perhaps the pheasant risotto could have had a bit more pheasant in it, couldnt really taste it, more like mushroom risotto
Well thought out menu with plenty of options. Great service and fab food, portion size just right. location easy to find and good parking. Thank you.
Lunchtime menu for run up to Christmas....full of choices for starters, mains and puds. Always good food, always good service. What's not to like a lot!
Beautifully presented food in lovely surroundings. Delicious food and great wine choices. Beef Wellington and daube of beef were absolutely fantastic. Staff friendly and efficient.
Great menu and the food was excellent. The Bay Horse is full of character - the fire and log burner perfect for creating a winter atmosphere and keeping us warm! This was the second time we have had a family lunch there and it was great...again! We will be back for more.
Excellent service- staff very pleasant and helpful Food superb, flavours sometimes unusual, good variety of foods on the menu Really enjoyable experience- will return soon
service and atmosphere very good. Food excellent and the added "Happy Birthday" for my partners desert was much appreciated. Overall value for money fixed price menu
The menu was varied and everything sounded delicious! We chose scallops / quail as starters and then had fillet steak / belly pork as our main courses. It was all beautifully cooked and presented. All of the staff were friendly and efficient. All in all, a lovely dining experience, would thoroughly recommend.
Fabulous. Food was exquisitely cooked with a perfect balance of flavours. Thoroughly enjoyed the evening and would definitely go again. Certainly recommend it for food and service.
Brilliant staff, beautiful decor and the food is superb. Each course is a work of art and tastes amazing. Vegetarians and vegans very well catered for too.
Absolutely fantastic, seasonal and exciting food with excellent service. Great range of affordable and delicious wines with lovely liquors and coffee to finish. Expect to pay a little more than you would in an average high street restaurant but you will get top end experience.
It’s a bit pricey but then the food is excellent and the service spot on so I guess you get what you pay for! Been a couple of times for Sunday lunch so now interested in trying the usual evening menu.
Sunday lunch quite expensive nearly £100 for 3 of us
Excellent meal as always, as was the service. This is why we frequent the Bay Horse regularly. We feel confident to recommend to all our friends both business and social. Continuity of standard is so important Mike Davies
Another lovely evening at The Bay Horse, Hurworth, and once again the food and service was 100%. We will definitely return, hopefully before the end of 2018.
Superb meal and very good service. It was our first visit to The Bay Horse and we were not disappointed, we will definitely be going back again
Delicious dinner and really friendly service. Lovely atmosphere. Memorable evening. Delicious dinner and really friendly service. Lovely atmosphere. Memorable evening. Would highly recommend. The end
Brilliant atmosphere for a Sunday , the beef was cooked to perfection and the staff were really friendly. Still my favourite place to go eat.
Excellent meal and a varied menu choice for a Sunday lunch. Very good service and great knowledge from the staff about the meals that they were serving, not something that one always finds
The food was fantastic, and the wine list extensive. We enjoyed a delicious bottle of rose and some muscat! The atmosphere was cosy and relaxed, and the staff were helpful! Great evening!
Lovely restaurant. Amazing food, especially for the price. The selection of desserts was definitely worth while! Normally they give you a selection of only 2 or 3 deserts but this had all six on the menu! I will definitely return to try a different starter and main as well. My friend is vegetarian and loved her meal as well and the specific veggie menu they had. Staff were lovely and very attentive. Overall definitely a good choice and can't wait to return to try more.
Excellent food , wine and service , the only down point was the adjacent table were a little loud , other than that top notch as usual
Pleasant enough experience. Nothing majorly mind blowing or offensive. On the pricey side. Beer selection was poor. Wine selection was limited. I would expect a restaurant like this to have a more extensive offering. Serviced by young servers that need some training to match what they are trying to achieve with the place - a management issue.
really good food and nice atmosphere will be going again for sure
Lovely meal , very grateful for squeezing an extra seat in . Staff great and amazing Sunday lunch in cozy surroundings . Thank you bay horse .
Very nice meal for our anniversary. Cosy bar with open fire, then fine dining next door. Not cheap, but worth it.
The food was fantastic and almost everything on the menu could be adapted for gluten and dairy free options. The venue was lovely and welcoming and staff were very friendly and helpful. I wouldn't hesitate to book again if visiting the area.
The food, service and atmosphere was top class as always. Each dish was presented beautifully and cooked perfectly. The menu had a wide and varied range of options. Something for everyone. Overall the Bay Horse provides a wonderful dining experience. We travel from Washington, Tyne & Wear regularly to enjoy this high quality restaurant which is as good as the very best this region has to offer. Simply superb
Fantastic and faultless! Amazing restaurant never get tired of this place.
Absolutely fantastic food and the service was very friendly and professional definitely go again very soon the beers were great to 👍👍👍 mist place to visit
Me & my husband have visited 6 times now and each time we leave super impressed, the food Is just stunning, there is a great atmosphere and it’s so cosy and relaxing. The home made bread and butter is to die for, with a different flavour each visit. Would recommend everyone to try the bay horse! Thank you
Friendly atmosphere and good service food beautifully displayed and very tasty. Can recommend the pan fried chicken delicious. Coffee and homemade chocolates a lovely finish to an excellent lunch
Excellent food as always. Attentive but unfussy service. Superb menu options. Having lunch with my best man and his wife who’ve been working abroad we had the perfect combination of ambience and fine dining to catch up in a leisurely fashion. Better still, my friends - who live in Gosforth, Newcastle - said they’d forgotten how amazing the eating out options were here!
When we arrived the room had a strong smell of coal gas which is very unhealthy. We were told this was "only because they just lit the fire." The waitress kindly opened the window for us which helped but the chimney must either need sweeping or some building work as it is not drawing the smoke out, Re - the food. We have had good meals there before but on our Sunday lunch there were no green vegetables at all and the potatoes seemed to have been warmed up rather than freshly cooked - they were very fatty and hard. The soup and dessert were good.
Normally our favourite place for a lunch treat but not up to par today. My wife was served the wrong mains (an honest enough mistake) but mine was then left to go cold whilst they quickly prepared the correct one. Free desert once I mentioned is so they did try and make up for. Won’t stop us going again
Been here a few times now and it never ceases to amaze. Food was absolutely fantastic!! For me a perfect dining experience, could not recommend more.
First time visting the bay horse Amazing food, amazing service, will defiantly will be back again, great job guys 👍would highly recommend to any one, best steak I've eaten
Great feeling in the place the rooms really sparkle, helpful friendly staff and best of lovely food.wish the parking was better but hey you can’t have everything .
Fantastic food. Nice for the special occasion we visited for. Our waitress could have been a bit cheerier though, made us feel a little uncomfortable.
Set in the attractive village of Hurworth, The Bay Horse is to be highly recommended. Very well designed interiors, with good colours, furnishings and pictures. We were there for a mid-week lunch which we chose from the a la carte menu. All the food was delicious - beautifully presented and in ideal amounts so that we could partake fully in all three courses! All the staff were very polite and helpful.
