Although the staff were lovely, food very disappointing. One dish had to be sent back, the two steak dishes were poorly presented and the lamb dishes were luke warm. Our friends were not impressed on this occasion after previous visits were excellent.
Great night watching the Champions League semi final. Great food and drink. Staff excellent- very attentive. We’ve already booked to watch the final in the Bastion.
Been here a couple of times food is nice but service can be hit and miss it’s great though the week but on weekends it’s pretty poor! Definitely need more staff
Superb food, wonderful atmosphere, friendly and attentive staff. If i come back to Liverpool i will book Shanklys again without hesitation. Highly recommended to everyone.
Lovely restaurant attentive staff good atmosphere lovely food . Great prices on the set menu. Seating really comfortable great for Liverpool fans full of memorabilia me and my husband have stayed overnight here before and the rooms and en suites are amazing
Food was lovely, but very small portions. Service was slow and we weren't even offered desert. Had to chase staff for drinks order. Was a treat for a special occasion but didn't feel very special. A little disappointed.
Fantastic food and great night Fantastic Service very attentive informative and excellent customer service form the staff who where very busy but still delivered first class service
Excellent service. Attentive all the way through the match. Cannot complaint at aĺl about the waiting on staff. Great result in the togger too, come on red men!
Good staff service but it’s a Hen Party place and very noisy. I chose this because of the links to LFC and Shankley thinking it would round our trip to Liverpool off. Sadly I would avoid this hotel unless you are on a Hen Party. Noted some elderly guests who appeared to be staying in hotel and looked out of place.
Fantastic Sunday lunch. Excellent value for money. The food and staff are both exceptional. Great location and decor. A must for every football fan not just liverpool supporters.
Great food quick service would recommend if you want a lovely meal with your partner or family or special occasion lovely service too great restaurant
We all had the two courses and the roast dinners where amazing. I don’t normally like hotel restaurants but everywhere else was full with it being Easter Sunday but we will definitely come back.
Very friendly staff although sometimes hard to find a waiter as their was a function in the private room adjacent to the restaurant and staff were also servicing the function. Good food and the live music was a great added bonus.
The Service, the food and the cocktails were fabulous had a great afternoon with friends in comfort. Would recommend this for afternoon tea to everyone
From start to finish the whole experience was amazing, staff and food fabulous . It was my mums 83rd birthday and the waitress made my mum feel very special
Food and service was excellent! Staff are very friendly and welcoming, haven’t got a bad word to say about our experience so we will definitely return.
Fantastic venue with excellent service from walking through the door to leaving, great food great atmosphere and excellent service! Will be returning to try the excellent menu again !
Fantastic service and an extra special touch with complimentary drinks as we were celebrating my nieces 18th birthday. I will definitely be going back soon
Staff very friendly. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Would certainly recommend. We were shown around one of the bedrooms by staff as we are thinking of staying in the the future.
Service (harleyia) and food excellent. Kept table for us despite being 30 minutes late due to traffic congestion. Also helped us out serving dessert extra quick as son had to be on 15:47 train back to London
Lovely restaurant with great Bill Shankley memorabilia. Food lovely. Main menu quite expensive but we had the early bird menu which was good value for money.
Waitress was excellent, not sure of her name, short blonde girl, made the evening a pleasure experience for me and my family. Would definitely go again.
Food really good, service spot on, lovely friendly atmosphere. This was our first visit, won’t be our last. Memorabilia and photos displayed are amazing. Brought back many fond memories.
Good food, good service! My wife, our daughter and I were enjoying a quiet lunch when a wedding party arrived. They surrounded our table, leant on the backs of our chairs instead of sitting down and were very loud in their so called conversation! When we politely asked them to move away from our table, they became extremely obnoxious! Why this party was not allocated an area in the Bastion where they would not disturb other diners, I do not know? Extremely bad organisation by whoever is in charge of seating arrangements. It will be a long time before we chance another visit to the Shankly!
Lovely restaurant. Ideal place to eat for Shankly fans. Great food and great staff. Would definitely recommend and I look forward to my next visit.
The food was delicious and we were well looked after. The restaurant has lots of memorabilia relating to Bill Shankly which was really interesting. Only down side was the temperature we were sat near the main door and it was very cold for most of the evening so we had to eat with our coats on
Excellent meal and great atmosphere. Whether there for a drink, to watch the football or a family meal, there is something for everyone at the Bastion.
Great atmosphere lovely food and attentive staff. The service was excellent one little suggestion for the future chunky chips with steak please instead of fries. Will definitely be back again
Quick service and good food. Ordered off the early bird menu which was good value. The food was well cooked. Starters could have done with a little more garnish
Celebrated our wedding Anniversary with evening meal and bed breakfast and afternoon tea, could not fault the service very friendly and efficient, lovely hot breakfast and afternoon tea finished the stay off nicely , would definitely recommend,
GREat sevice and lovely food was very happy took my mum for mother’s day and would defo book to go there next year as was so nice .
Lunch menu didn’t have a great deal to offer but service was good. could of done with more choices. The TV was very loud but when we asked them to lower the sound they did. Really good atmosphere in the Shankly hotel
We had the best time. Everything was perfect including the range of food, atmosphere and particularly the staff attention to detail. We can’t wait to return.
We go here a lot before Liverpool games. The service is amazing and the porn star martinis are the best! However my friends have raved previously about the steak but it was fatty and really disappointing
10/10 for food/service however expensive, paid for a all in package at the hotel (two course meal) and still had to pay £40 as there was supplement charges. Rip off!
Such a lovely afternoon tea! Food was served in a mini picnic table, good drink for those who don't drink tea like myself. Good atmosphere staff were friendly, too selection of cocktails and mocktails too! I would recommend the mixed berry lemonade!
Fantastic time for my boyfriends birthday! Had the most amazing over night stay and meal in the Shankly! We were served our meal by the lovely Sophie! We will for sure return soon. Thank you so much for such a fantastic evening!
Lovely meal with family, for my birthday. Very attentive staff who couldn't do enough to ensure everything was as we wanted. Will definitely return and would recommend to friends.
Our table was ready for us on our arrival . Waitress service was excellent . Venue clean and tidy including the toilets. Some good offers on , like buy one get one free on pints of lager if Liverpool F.C are winning at half time ! Food a little expensive but very tasty , loved the scouse (£9.50) , fish & chips (£11.50) but you do get a free pint with certain dishes . Overall a good , clean tidy venue and the staff very helpful , polite and professional , well done Shankly Hotel .
Lovely restaurant with loads of memorabilia of the Great Man [Shankly]. Great food , good prices, friendly staff...not to be missed if in Liverpool even if you're not a football devotee!
Booked for lunch on a Sunday first time we had been. We arrived 15 minutes early and curtly told by a waitress to go to the bar. At no point did she say we will let you know when your table is ready. After approaching the bar 3 times and 20 minutes later we were shown to our table which had been ready all along. The service through the meal was good. Bit disappointing that if you didn’t have the Sunday lunch menu there were no starters on the alternative menu. Sunday lunch was nice but deserts were disappointing especially the ice cream never known ice cream to be wrong but this was awful. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant and a nice touch at the end we were given a small discount off the bill as it was my sons birthday. Not sure I’d go back to eat but would certainly pop in for a drink.
Lovely food - excellent service. Would definately go again - I took my daughter for afternoon tea as a treat and we both enjoyed it
Had a lovely meal at the Bastion at the Shankly Hotel, 3 course meal £!9.99, lovely food, would highly recommend to all, top quality food.
Enjoyed our afternoon tea at the Bastion restaurant. Saturday afternoon was very busy and although it was good, felt that coming during the week when less busy was better. Service etc was very good, although did have to keep asking for tea etc. Would still recommend though as still good value for money.
The restaurant was like Bedlam, the atmosphere seemed chaotic. After we had ordered we were told that as we had arrived a little early the kitchen wouldn't be able to take our order until a little later which we were fine with. We enjoyed our starters but there was confusion over two of the mains and by the time they were sorted out the other 3 of us had finished eating. I'd asked for no chorizo in the shrimp sauce that went with my sea bass, when it came there wasn't any sauce at all and my friends sea bass had no sauce either! I would normally have mentioned it but as the lovely young lady who was looking after us was trying to sort out the other stuff I left it. We were given a complimentary drink which we appreciated but we went to the Shankly to eat and I've had better experiences elsewhere and wouldn't go again, sorry.
Service was great, atmosphere was great, but the lunch menu for a prodigious setting was very poor!! Was looking for À la cart menu in the grand setting.
Lovely waitress, very helpful and pleasant.atmosphere relaxed and welcoming.Did wait a while for our food, but it is a la carte so that goes with the territory. When food arrived it was worth the wait .....delicious!
Good food good service and reasonable prices made for a very pleasant experience for everyone and if we stay here in future we would definitely come back to the restaurant
very nice food, servers were good, albeit a little slow with some drinks but nothing to complain about. I enjoyed the atmosphere and history of Liverpool both as a city and football club even though i'm an Everton fan!
Food delicious, flavour combinations worked really well. Atmosphere friendly, felt intimate even though a large space. Waitress (Sammie?) was really good, fast and attentive. A great evening.
