We were provided with an excellent service thank you! All the staff were very friendly and helpful... such a good atmosphere! Will definitely book again soon
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great atmosphere whilst watching the match. Good deals on drink if Liverpool win. Food was delicious too. Will definitely be back soon.
Great service, helpful staff and the food was delicious also found the restaurant extremely warm and cozy when walking in from the cold weather all good stuff: 👍 Well done
Service was slow Portions were fine however the lambshoulder was extremely salty. I've not eaten here before and although the setting is lovely I felt I was in a working man's boozer....the guest on a couple of table's were rowdy obviously had been drinking all day due to the derby. I felt there was no quiet area to have a relaxing meal.
Great location and ambiance, the food was ok but really surprised at the length of time it took for food to arrive, given the restaurant was quiet.
Delicious food and excellent service made it a very pleasant birthday lunch for my husband. The restaurant has has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and the staff are very friendly. I look forward to going back soon.
We were welcomed in a friendly manner. The food and service were excellent and we were very impressed with our waitress, Jess. she went out of her way to make us feel special.
Atmosphere food service all amazing purchased for my fiancé’s birthday she loved it. Amazing hotel well worth a visit we will definitely be going again and will stay over next time 5atar
Was brought to table which had early bird menus and pieces of card left over from last guests sitting before us. Was informed the Sunday lunch menu that we had booked £19.95 for 3 course was now changed and we could have it, which was wrong advertising. Eventually was told we could have the option we originally booked, the food was nice but the mains was quite cold. Plus when asking for Horseradish sauce, we were informed that they had run out of it! This was at 3:30pm The service was poor , 1 example was the deserts arrive with no cutlery and no napkins! I had to personally go and ask for these after waiting almost 5 mins from when the deserts arrived. Finally, the bill was over charged as they had billed us for the new Sunday lunch rate , even though they had agreed to us handing the rate we originally booked at! Over all dissatisfaction with service in here.
Arrived early. Had 2 grandchildren with us. Quickly shown a table. Waitresses were excellent. Gave us a complimentary glass of prisecco each as we had mentioned it was our 40th wedding anniversary. There were 2 seoerate hen parties in the restaurant whilst we were there but they didn’t disturb us. The disappoint was in the actual food. We both ordered winter vegetable soup. That was a spicy mush. More peppery than taste of vegetables. The roll was cold and tiny compared to the large round pat of frozen butter that was served with it. Enough butter to spread on 3 rolls so most was unused on both our plates. I ordered steak and frites - not an apertizing meal when it arrived... small round steak (cooked medium as requested) one mushroom and small sprig of watercress 3/4 of the plate was of skinny fries which covered rest of plate. Very dry meal. Disappointed. My husband ordered fish and chips... chips were chunky chips - very average taste, let most of them uneaten. Fish in batter was not the nicest. Husbands verdict was 3/10 for the fish. Said it tasted it didn’t taste or look like fresh batterec fish more like frozen fish heated up in oven. The pot of mushy peas were dry - again most left uneaten. For dessert I opted for apple delice with a portion of ice cream - when it arrived. Nice presentation. icecream was in separate pot. The apple delice was ok. Stewed apple with a type of creesecske mix on top. I ended up giving husband my pot of ice cream as he had ordered sticky toffee pudding with ice cream which had arrived with the smallest serving of ice cream - not even a full scoop! There was lots of sauce which the sponge seemed to be surrounded in. The sponge was dry even when trying to eat it with the sauce and the allocated ice cream,. So I gave husband my pot of ice cream too. In the end half the dry sponge was left on plate uneaten. We had a £50 gift voucher which we used towards cost of our meal and we left a tip for the waitresses as we felt the poor food quality was not their fault. Our overall opinion of the Bastion restaurant was - not worth a re-visit and we wouldn’t be recommending it as a place to dine to any of our many family or friends. We will tell the. Honestly about the excellent waitresses but that alone is not a good e bough reason to return there. We didn’t complain to restaurant whilst there. But we have come away feeling disappointed with what should have been a lovely gift treat meal. Sue Fevine devine.susan@btinternet.com
Lovely food. Milk was off and had to have fresh stuff 4 times but the man who served is was really really apologetic. Thank you.
Lovely, tasty, freshly prepared food. Polite, prompt but unobtrusive service. Nice, relaxed atmosphere and varied, reasonable menu. A good dining experience . Well done. Will return
Great place for the Liverpool fan or food lover! Fantastic history and Shankly memorabilia. Excellent service, excellent food and great value, would recommend the Gin Sling!
We had a perfect evening . The food was delicious , service was very good and the Bill Shankley memorabilia was very touching to see
Fabulous food. A big thank to Beth for all your help and being so attentive. Would definitely recommend eating here and the gin cocktails. Brilliant!
Phoned to book table, told to hold for manager. No manager answered so put phone down after 4 mins wait. Booked online (ok) Drinks quick but slow for ordering & getting food. Wife had braised steak (had on previous visit very nice) this time meat was tough sent back & had another meal which was nice. In fairness no charge for my wife’s meal.
Decor was nice, food was nice, staff were exceptionally nice. But although we know it is a football themed hotel and restaurant there were too many screens and way too loud. It is very near reception and so people checking in and out, and waiting for transport, and the football matches going on there was a lot of hustle and bustle and not a great atmosphere to enjoy a leisurely lunch, nicer for a pint and a pie.
Arrived at 7.40 to be told they could not get the football on😡, which was the main reason god booking, then waited 35 mins to get a drink, was not impressed at all..
Amazing food, great atmosphere. Overall dining experience is exceptional here which is why we return time and time again. 5 stars every time for the bastion
We go here to watch Liverpool in the champions league, We’ve always enjoyed it but last bit the fish and chips which was very dry, I had chocolate fondant for dessert which wasn’t good & the service wasn’t good either
Had a great day, food was very nice, beer nice and cold and the mighty reds won so all in all a brilliant time. Definitely going back for the next away game
Lovely food , and good wine . The cocktails were really great too. The service was really good and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend.
our experience having afternoon tea at The Shankly’s Bastion Bar and Restaurant was great would recommend to all. Staff were so friendly, helpful and welcoming
Lovely environment, well presented, friendly attentive staff. The food was absolutely gorgeous and couldn't fault it at all! would definately go again if in Liverpool and would highly recommend to others!
Lovely afternoon tea, sandwiches are varied and fresh and cakes looked homemade. We were celebrating my husbands birthday. They were great with out 2 yr old and gave her balloons
An excellent dining experience. Food was very tasty. Staff were very friendly, helpful & attentive. The Bastion Bar & Grill was busy with a wedding, but this didn't impact on the service, quality of food, friendliness of staff, or wait times. Couldn't fault it
Excellent food. Have been back quite a few times now and the service and atmosphere are always amazing. Great place to relax on a date night
Our afternoon tea was lovely, service was attentive enough without being intusive. Fabulous atmosphere, definitely would recommend to friends and family and we will be back x Thank you
Brilliant service from Paul and a young blonde girl with a pony tail (didn’t get her name sorry!). Dealt well with our awful sense of humour, really lovely and fun staff but still ooze professionalism at all times also. Food was lovely - scotch egg definitely a favourite. Only negative was that the set menu was different than the one online so that needs to be updated; the choice you’re left with for the mains is not the best. Chicken, fish, lamb or veggie. I’m allergic to fish & seafood and can’t eat lamb either so you’re limited to two options - the menu online was much better so slightly disappointed but the courses were lovely alll the same. Chicken slightly undercooked so half pink and slimy & couldn’t eat it but it happens! Cocktails fantastic - love the bubblegum tom Collins gin thingy. Good wine choice too. Free glass of bubbly due to a prepaid table cancelling made my mums birthday even better! Music was great, brilliant atmosphere brilliant decor and nice range of guests, all staff even outside or the restaurant fabulous. Can’t wait to return and try the full menu as well as stay over. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
Food very nice, staff very friendly and service was spot on, would recommend this hotel to stay in or just the bar for food and drinks, great location x
visited today for the first time. lots of parking close by. excellent value afternoon tea, would go again and will recommend to others. thank you :)
Such good value, really tasty and a great gift! The restaurant is lovely, staff are friendly and helpful, live music a great touch. Highly recommend!
Very pleasant but very busy as there were 3 large hen parties in at the same time all having afternoon tea so staff were rushed off their feet , but still attentive. Sandwiches and cakes very nice. would go again.
good service, friendly staff, food is good value for money. Staff are mostly all young and inexperienced but overall the experience Is well worth the money.
We booked here to celebrate my boyfriends birthday as he is a huge Liverpool fan it was great the staff were amazing and the food was quality we loved the cocktails n the choice was amazing
A very pleasant meal, nice atmosphere and what I like was not hurried at all. All in all very good evening celebrating my brothers 60th birthday. Would visit again. YNWA
Food was great, good variety of choice and reasonable price. However, service was lacking initially when we had to wait a while for our drinks, the restaurant was also rather noisy.
Wonderful service and the food was beautiful. The memorabilia of the most brilliant football manager in the world is great. We will be visiting again.
Disgustingly long wait for food and staff with bad attitudes. Aggressive and and angry security who where looking for a fight. Never going to this dive again
this is an amazing hotel if you area a follower of Bill Shankly, or Liverpool Football Club or probably both. We went for afternoon tea and it was so lovely. One of the party was is a vegetarian and was very well catered for, she was well impressed. it is a very pleasant hotel, nothing is too much trouble for the staff, they made sure we were topped up regularly with fresh pots of tea and coffee. The icing on the cake for us all as we are Liverpool supporters was meeting Bill Shankly's grandson. He spent about 20 minutes with us posing for photos, so we ere all pretty happy when we left. Although it's a few days ago now I still smile at the memories.
Ive eaten at the Bastion manty times, but wasnt impressed on Father's Day, most of the food had run out, limited menu, slow service, items missing from meal, no free drink offered to Dad, disjointed service.
Spent over 3 hours in the restaurant due to being forgotten about. Although the food was lovely it was dampened by the service we received.
Great experience despite it being very busy. Bar man initially was a little rude but I put it down to him having a bad day as everyone else was happy!
Poor service, waitress messed order so my meal was after everybody else had eaten. Bill was £121 have £140 cash never seen her again so I take it no change then
Great atmosphere , easy access , excellent staff and service and food. Would certainly recommend to anyone The Bastion Bar & Restaurant, thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.
Excellent for a Hen party, took care of us and made sure everyone was happy and had what they needed. Particularly dealt well with difficult dietary needs!
Nice meal waitress was very good but have to say expected more for the price we paid didn't feel like I was in a restaurant with all the tv's and thought it was very dark and drab depressing decor lots of women in hen nights and the singer on was quite good may call in for a drink again but not a meal as not a wood restaurant
Amazing food as always. My favourite restaurant to visit in the city. The food is always cooked to perfection and the service is always very friendly
Waiting on staff were very good but they were let down by the bar staff and the kitchen. We waited nearly 1 1/2 hrs for our food . We ordered drinks on arrival but only received half of them after about 30 mins and had to ask for the rest. When some of our party went to the bar for extra drinks the barman seemed to ignore that they were waiting to be served. The management did reduce our bill and gave us a free bottle of prosecco which was much appreciated
High level prawns. Local staff. Interesting memorabilia. Nice atmosphere. Smart but not stuffy. Early bird menu is ridiculously good value for the quality. Try it.
