Delicious food. Great service. Good choice of meals and wine. It is noisy though especially on weekends as close to the bar. Otherwise top choice.

Very friendly service and with food 50% off it was good value too. We took advantage of the offer and both had The fillet steak. It was good, not great.

the service was slow but this is because the restaurant was busy and under staffed, the staff were all lovely and the food was very good

We really enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere at the Avalon, however the service was really slow. We decided on just mains, two medium fillet steaks and a jug of water but waited 25mins for them to come out. They werent even that busy. But aside this, we look forward going back again soon.

Couldn't have been easier to book a table and the staff at the Avalon were really accommodating as we were after a particular table. Great lunch.

I have eaten at the Avalon about 12 times over the past 2 years. However this time was disappointing. Tasteless carrot soup, and overcooked long grain white rice being served as the Risotto dish, instead of Arborio or Carnaroli rice. On sending the risotto back the server explained the Chef also agreed long grain rice had been used, with no explanation why! Secondly we had to as 3 times for our drinks to arrive and the service was far from attentive. The bar was busy, however the restaurant was the most empty I had seen it in 2 years. My final dish was fantastic, and yes my main course was removed from the bill - however it was overall a disappointing experience.

Very nice experience. The atmosphere was fantastic, food was brilliant, ale was very refreshing and we particularly enjoyed the 50% discount of all the food. Highly recommended!

The food was absolutely fantastic as always (especially the steak) but the service was definitely lacking and it really took a while to get anyone's attention

We love the Avalon. It's a great local pub for the whole family, (including the dog!) The food is excellent as are the wine choices.

Always a good party vibe at the Avalon and we're big fans of the place. But sometimes the food can be hit and miss and this time the steak wasn't a good cut of beef and was a bit tough. The restaurant was a bit busy when we got there but service could have been better - sat there for 20mins+ before someone asked if we wanted a drink... Stuff happens but this wasn't one of their better nights.

The food is amazing. I would recommend the beef short ribs. It can get crowded at the weekend so be sure to make a booking.

Food portions were very generous. Service was ok at the beginning but because our group was arriving at different times they kind of forgot about us. Also the acoustics of the dining room aren't great so not ideal for large groups. If there were two of us would have been great.

Have been a few times now and always enjoy as friendly attentive staff and the menu is always good as has a varied choice and good atmosphere in the bar and restaurant.

The service was pretty slow despite having a table at 12:30, and the 50% off promotion listed in the Ts&Cs only that "throughout" January actually meant weekdays only, which is a very different thing.

The steak was amazing, in fact one of the best I've eaten!

Great venue and atmosphere. Lovely food and staff. Service slowed down near the end and i had to get up to ask for the bill but they were very busy. I would definitely go again.

Food was good but the service was terrible! We had to get up ourselves to get things. The ketchup came when we had almost finished!

Amazing, friendly and quick service. The food was great. I had rib eye steak and it melted in my mouth. My fiancé had beef ribs which fell apart. We will definitely go back.

Food and wine were great as always but service was a little slow; we constantly had to call a member of staff over to take orders, supply steak knives, provide pudding menus etc.

Very nice pub with good selection of drinks. Pleasant atmosphere. Food was reasonably good but not as impressive as some we've had at the other Three Cheers pubs.

I know the Avalon well and have eaten there before. I took advantage of the generous January 50% voucher which was very worthwhile. The food was good but as one would expect from a gastro(?)pub. The duck was a little too smothered in gravy and would have benefitted from a hint of green veg rather than the watercress garnish. The pizza is always good value but could do with slightly more topping as the crust was quite dry. On the whole - good and I would expect to return again.

Great atmosphere. The pizzas are better than pizza express! Staff are very friendly. Will definitely be coming back here. A few more salads on the menu might help

For Friday evening around 7 pm we had a large table and experienced Fantastic service. There was a very good selection on the menus and what we ordered was exceptional. A highly recommend evening dinning venue.

It was a very enjoyable evening in comfortable surroundings. All four of us had steaks which were cooked with a good deal of pink - which I like for a medium rare. Great chips and peppercorn sauce, The staff were attentive as needed and quick to clear and serve. The only thing I didn't like at all was the dessert, a passion fruit and raspberry Eton mess. For an Eton mess it was 90 cream and 10 meringue. I don't think thees many people who want to eat a entire glass of whipped cream. I suggest they rethink this dessert as it was extremely disappointing.

Another enjoyable evening was spent with friends at the Avalon. Great food, the service started very well, however as the restaurant got busier the service was average. Two pies were brought from the kitchen and the staff didn't known which was the lamb and which was the beef. They only downfall of this place is the noise that comes through from the bar making it hard to hear when you are eating.

Veggie roast was nice but would've benefitted from some sauce or gravy.

It was a nice experience. The staff were very attentive and helpful. The quality of the food was great. I had the cod and it was presented well and tasted superb. My overall experience was lovely.

The food is excellent, very tasty ! Great music with DJ on Saturday night. The staff is friendly. There is a large garden and a smaller on the side too.

Great food, friendly staff with a welcoming attitude towards babies and kids. The decorate your own fairy cake was a great idea for kids' pudding - buys more time for adults to enjoy the delicious food! Also has an extensive wine list. Baby change facilities are available and unisex which makes a nice change from the usual. Would highly recommend.

Amazing food, great service and with a lovely vibe. I would def come back to this pub to enjoy its amazing food. I would specially recommend the ribeye! Amazing quality if you like meat!

The Avalon has always served great steaks. Not sure what went wrong on our recent visit but the kitchen was unable to cook the steaks to our request (medium) despite more than one attempt. A side dish was forgotten and generally service was poor - not what we have been used to at the Avalon. They tried to make amends by reducing our bill by 50% for the food - a nice and appreciated gesture. Sadly, it will still be a while until we return. Not sure if the poor performance has anything to do with staff changes?

The restaurant is lovely but the noise level was intolerable - for that reason alone the experience was awful. A little surprise that management appears unconcern/unaware the effect such loutish behaviour have on other diners.

Enjoyable dinner with friends - let down by lack of gluten free options on the menu. They managed to modify the steak option to be gluten free though which was excellent.

The choice of food were more limited than usual but it was jummy as usual. There were a shortage of staff, probably because they opened the Garden. Otherwise it was a great night

Good was of a good standard and service friendly but drinks orders were forgotten and our first course took almost an hour to arrive.
