The Avalon

The staff are lovely and very professional but the food was absolutely TERRIBLE and badly presented! I would not recommend the Avalon to anyone! !

Great hearty food and pub environment, especially with the Secret garden perfect for social alfresco dinning during the summer, however, during the winter, indoor dinning is painful surrounded by an extremely noisy and very drunk crowd!

Food is below average - lacking in flavour and attention. They can't cook steak - my medium was rare and blue in the middle. Sent it back and they just added my chopped steak back on. The roasts looked very boring and having eaten one before there, tastes pretty boring too. Had the cheese board and one biscuit that was broken into bits - nice to see that's the worth of our custom. Won't be rushing back for food.

great service, attentive and friendly. good standards all round. excellent tasty food, very rich . But I found the vegetarian mains offered limited choice, apart from pizza. pub and restaurant were really busy and buzzy, great atmosphere.

Nice restaurant with gorgeous food at reasonable prices and great for kids. Can’t wait to come back in the summer to check out the Secret Garden!!

Service was amazing and Prosecco was flowing throughout however the rugby was on and they had a screen in the restaurant which felt was unnecessary considering they had it on in the pub too! Couldn't really talk properly as it was so noisy.

Great food and service, sensibly priced. We all enjoyed the experience and will certainly return sometime. A very reasonable price for a bottle of Prosecco.

Food excellent as always, and well portioned. The staff, are attentive . Great bar staff willing to make up cocktail drinks based on your likes.

Great food and service! Went for bottomless prosecco brunch on Saturday. Great vibe and energy. Our server was on point and never let us go dry.

Yes food was good- lively with nice staff- food arrived in good time. The acoustics make the dinning room very noisy- so the piped music should be turned down or off although

Decent food - good with the kids, though the service deteriorated as the meal went on and the pub got busier. Super fast to start - super slow by the end. Not bad.

Good service. Food was good with the exception of dessert -- dessert was a disaster for all four of us in the group and really detracted from the otherwise decent food (flourless chocolate cake was dry and probably old and the topping on the fruit crumble was so dry it was like eating chalk dust); none of us finished desserts. We were there on a Saturday night and while some might find it a good vibe, diners had to literally push through the mob around the bar to get to the toilets.

Good food, fast service and a pleasant atmosphere. The roast beef Sunday lunch was tasty and the waiters friendly. Not cheap, but decent quality for the price.

Great food and atmosphere. Quick service - always a pleasure to visit. The table we booked was available early and at no time did we feel rushed to leave

This pub is one of several in a chain of London pubs called Three Cheers.( Stonhouse is my favourite ) neither of them They are both ever fail in quality, value for money and service. Even better with the offers and specials.

Good food wine and waiting staff but would not recommend for a Saturday evening as restaurant empty but bar packed and toilets a an unpleasant experience

Very friendly and attentive service. Staff were great with our dog, offered wate bowl and doggy biscuits! Breakfast pizza was great, pity the breakfast burger advertised on their website is not on the menu.

Food was yummy. The ambiance was quite loud though. I would definitely come back for the banoffee pie and roast beef agree Yorkshire pudding though

The roast was good but the service was extremely poor, had to go to the bar twice to ask someone to take our drinks order and waited an hour for food.

Lovely pub/restaurant. Food excellent. Bottomless prosecco fabulous. Slightly long service but it was a Saturday so that's expected. Overall had a great time. Definitely go again.

Amazing meal in amazing setting just off the high street near Clapham South. The restaurant setting is beautiful and the food was incredible. Really recommend the salad!

Very welcoming staff, helpful and were very good with the kids. We weren't rushed so had time to eat and relax. Food was great too. Giant kids portions!!!

Good food, nice place, excellent staff. As gastro pubs goes in this neck of the woods it's worth travelling to. Close to the tube and bus routes. Try it next sunday

Terrible experience. Food took nearly an hour and half of the restaurant was suddenly taken over by a huge party who came in from outside. The party had no respect for anyone eating, we were pushed, crowded and were hit by bags and elbows numerous times whilst eating. The noise level was ridiculous and we found ourselves shouting at each other to be heard. Awful experience and the only compensation for a ruined meal was 7% off 1 bottle of prosecco.

We have discovered the Avalon pub a couple of weeks ago. We would always pass by on the bus but we have never stopped there before! What a nice surprise! Super nice food (especially tasty pizzas) and the back garden...a gem! We love it now!

Great evening at the Avalon. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable about allergens. Dog friendly pub, with dog bowls and treats provided. And they accept Tastecard!

Great experience - the service staff were prompt and helpful. We were a group of 4 and did not feel rushed to give the table back and there was a good choice on the menu.

Lovely Sunday roast - we had chicken, and it was one of the nicest pieces of chicken I have ever had! It was also Father's Day and they gave my dad a free pint on the house! The service was brilliant, out waiter couldn't have been friendlier. Would highly recommend.

Nice food but was slightly disappointed with service. When we arrived they said it was policy not to allow use of a taste card in the garden area which was a pity as there was no atmosphere inside as everyone was in the garden. The food wasn't as nice as usual which was a shame as we go here regularly and usually love it.

We experienced very good service, good food and a very pleasant outdoor garden area. We enjoyed our visit and would recommend this restaurant to others.

I had family visiting and they had been here before. My sister was gagging for a steak, so where else would you go to? They have the best steaks in south London. We were on a timeframe and I told the waiter we needed to leave before a certain time to ensure we had food before we had to leave. The dinner was good, service good and the waiter even came and told us the time when I said we need to leave - excellent service. The only downside to the place is... the Mens stinky toilets :-( By the way, they have a fabulous garden at the back :-)

Staff were very attentive, great house red, excellent scoliosis and a wide beer selection. One of my favourite pubs in south London, can't recommend highly enough

Nice pub with great outdoor area in the rear for a sunny day. We lucked the trivia quiz. Ugly and host was fun as was the night.

We had the metre long pizza it was delicious! Staff were lovely and the secret garden was so nice on a sunny day. Definitely recommend this place.

Lovely venue, good food and great staff, but they had run out of over 50% of options on the menu so they lose a couple of stars for that this time!

A lovely restaurant that is upstaged by the noise generated by the pub bar which is adjacent to the restaurant. Having requested a table in the corner as we had a member of our table who was deaf. My request (made the week before) was not met. The food is good quality and the service is friendly and swift.

The food was very average and a very long wait for service. The Roast Beef and Yorkshire pudding was OK but my dining partner said the Nut Roast was covered in a sauce that didn't really go with the vegetables and the meal was served tepid. A shame as this venue is usually excellent. Maybe too many bookings for Easter Sunday that stretched the resources too far.

We always enjoy the Avalon. The ambiance is great, the food and wine is delish, good service, dogs allowed. The garden in summer is absolutely amazing.

Excellent service and food. Easy to find, good location. Good wine list with a number of good wines from all over the world. Good garden too.

Had a really good roast dinner. Very busy so booking is definitely needed. Reasonable prices also as most places in London are over £17/ £18
