Homely atmosphere Very welcoming staff were very friendly, especially considering we had 1 child and 2 dogs! food was delicious and reasonably priced will definitely return!
I like the vibe at the pub and food is good. Poor variety of artisan beers. They sell mainly commercial lager. They have a small craft beer menu but most beers were unavailable. Same as last time I went a couple of months ago so not an one-off.
Sunday lunch was excellent. Plentiful and served hot! ! The service was a bit poor but they were very busy ! Had to wait a while for drinks to be brought to the table!
Great friendly service at the bar and in the restaurant - we had the dog with us who was very well looked after. Would definitely go back.
We had a lovely seat and the service was fantastic, the food was very good and so was the wine. Pigeon Wellington with a glass of Rioja proving the perfect combination, great!
Was a very busy Sunday lunch service but the staff were working very hard. Good food, good size portions and served fast despite how busy they were. Dining space is a bit cramped depending on what table you get.
The food was as lovely as ever but service somewhat lacking this time. Food was served very quickly, however the cutlery followed very slowly and the wine arrived half way through the meal.
Food was good but service was very patchy and frustrating! Took forever to get drinks ordered once we had sat down and when we ordered more drinks during the meal they never arrived.
Great service from all the waitresses, friendly, knowledgeable on menu and attentive although very busy. Makes all the difference and will definitely be back soon!
Food was fantastic and I was really impressed with the number of meat-free dishes, plenty of choice. Wine was recommended and was equally as good. Staff were friendly, talkative and responsive. Would highly recommend.
Good food and friendly staff. Noisy, busy and good atmosphere, little disappointed to be charged extra for Yorkshire Puddings - I've eaten here many times in the past and don't recall having to pay extra with the roast small details sometimes make a big difference.
Visited The Abbeville early evening. There were a number of local people drinking in the bar and at the outside tables. Inside it was cosy and inviting with a nice atmosphere and I was made welcome. The decor and arrangement of the dining area is interesting. The staff were friendly and the service efficient, if perhaps a little too brisk (good if you are in a hurry!). My starter of tempura prawns served with a chilli jam was a good curtain raiser for a wonderful 8oz sirloin steak, perfectly cooked medium/rare to my order. After that the dessert of pistachio creme brulee was a bit of an anti-climax, but nevertheless competently made and nicely presented. Prices here are not cheap, but still very good value for this quality of food. By the time I left, the restaurant was buzzing with happy conversation and it is not hard to see why The Abbeville is such a magnet. Highly recommended.
Food was awesome, a lovely afternoon was had by all including our six year old daughter. Sunday lunch (and the creme brulee) come highly recommended 😊
Food was warm / cold when it came out. When changing one of the dishes, we were charged for it. Although when asking for it to be removed. We had no issues.
Excellent food and lovely wine - topped off by great service! The burgers are brilliant and the Vinho Verde wine is really tasty. Would definitely recommend!
Very good food and a pleasant lunch experience. Service was at times inattentive, frustrating when we wanted to order some wine and pay the bill
Nice pub with great atmosphere. Food was good. Need better selection of beers as they only offered basic/standard beers. I will go back but hopefully they will catch up with the other pubs in the area that offer a bigger variety of beer
Brilliant value with discount voucher! We took our friends from Holland for dinner, they were impressed with the experience especially with the ambiance and the food. Would definitely go back!!
Food always good and The service too. We were a bit crammed where we were seated but didn't ruin the night. Food came quickly though we were not rushed to leave. A nice mid-week spot in Clapham!
Food was fantastic and the service team were lovely! Asparagus ravioli was one of the best meals I've had in a long time! Can't wait to go back
Fun, atmospheric pub with good service and yummy food. Both the steak and fish were really good. Great for summer with a nice outside area and tables on lower ground that face out too..
Decent food, quality range of beers, friendly locals and amiable service in pleasant surroundings - what more do you need? Wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Abbeville.
We enjoyed good food / service but not great atmosphere as we were in an area with no other diners. Specials board was difficult to read.
A great menu with big, generous portions, tasty food and good selection of drinks. What's not to like? Will be back one day soon !
Another great evening at the Abbeville. Friendly, knowledgeable staff, great menu, fab specials. Had a great evening with family who hadn't been before. Thank you! Only downside were the really noisy customers at the next table...
Love the veggie nut roast. Food is always delicious. (Almost).Yorkshire puds are hit and miss. Definitely a neighbourhood gem. Atmosphere is very welcoming. Something for everyone.
Great food slightly slow service and very busy noisy dining area. Excellent choice of wines and beers. Overall well worth a visit to this pub.
This is an amazing pub in the middle of the Abbeville village (in Clapham). Delicious roast beef and HUGE portions for both main course and puddings. Very close to the common so I went for a nice walk afterwards. Staff very attentive and friendly. Can't wait to come again.
Great restaurant. Food is always great. Unlike most local restaurants, you can still order a roast past 4pm. I have arrived as late as 7;30 and never had a problem
Lovely food and good service. 1st time here and the layout is a little odd. Chef very accommodating as my daughter is vegan and gave her a couple of choices food wise. Would visit again.
I go to the Abbeville frequently and last night was probably the worst in terms of food and service. The service was disorganised (they were showing the champions league so were very busy) the food was less than mediocre. I had sundried tomato souffle which was overcooked and rubbery and tough on the outside and bland and like polystyrene on the inside. The sliced red peppers were borrid. My crab fishcake was tasty but spoiled by the cold soft boiled egg on top. My friend's risotto was bland. The £27.50 Rosè wine was delicious. You need more staff and a new chef Abbeville
friendly, efficient service with tasty food fairly priced. We ordered the special fish pie which was great and crab cakes, also recommended. A chocolate brownie pudding was substantial enough to share.. We eat here regularly, and will be going again. Booking recommended Thursday -Sunday
the service was shocking - we waited ages once seated for our drink order to be taken - and the dessert arrived cold.....don't think i'll be going back again in a hurry.
Went for a Sunday roast, both had roast beef which was delicious! Felt like we were being watched once we had finished eating though - quick to get us out although there were plenty of free tables.
Never been to the abbeville, but have tried their sister pubs and I must say this is the best one that I've tried. Very attentive and laid back staff and excellent food
Amazing food, service and experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a roast in South West London. Good atmosphere and always busy too! Would recommend
Lovely pub with great food and great service. Went for a Sunday lunch and had the table for two and a half hours so we're not rushed at all either.
Excellent meal and service. Fortunately the waiter seated us in a quiet area. The bar and the room near the bar was noisy. An enjoyable experience
Had a late Sunday lunch on Easter Sunday. Service was excellent - we were shown to our reserved table without delay, even though restaurant was busy. We had a small dog which the staff looked after as well. The only negative aspect was the gravy and the Yorkshire puddings got cold very quickly. This was clearly because the plates were not hot. However staff quickly brought jugs of warm gravy and fresh Yorkshires. We were also comped a dessert as recompense without any expectation. Have visited Abbeville loads of times and always v happy with the overall experience.
Really good, honest food - we particularly enjoyed the chicken wings to start. Portion sizes were very generous, so good value for money for the price! The cheeseboard was huge so we shared it! Serving staff were excellent, attentive but not overly so. Good wine list. We'll be visiting again.
Good food (although very salty), very welcoming - we were able to bring our dog too which was most apprecicated and fast service. definitely worth another visit.
Amazing roast - probably the best I've had in London. Best to book but never had a trouble getting a table. Good value for money too.
Arrived at around 7.30pm waited for 5 mins at the reception to be seated. Waitress saw us but too busy chatting about holiday with customers on the table. We were not greeted until the telephone rang and when one the staff came to answer it. Ordered a belly pork which was awful, it should be a moist, soft piece of meat with a nice layer of fat of top, it came as a lump of fat, the fat was about 1.5 inches thick on one side, the meat was dry and hard, some parts of it was a hard as bones. My friend had a veggie dish which, he said, was nice. For a drink is nice but not for the food.
Service was very good as always in a Three Cheers Pub. The food on this occasion fell short of what we normally have. The Pasta was under cooked and very salty. The meat in the pies was very dry. Both starters were excellent and the pud was good but they could add more custard to the thimble you get with the crumble.
We went for Friday night dinner, the atmosphere was great, the food was delicious and we received good service. Highly recommend and look forward to visiting again soon!
I go for lots of Sunday Roasts on the quest to find the best one - probably a never ending task - still, it's good to taste them all on the journey! The roast at the Abbeville was amazing. A really decent amount of meat and I requested the rarest part of the beef, which I got. Lots of veg however, there weren't any options for extra veg such as cauli cheese or creamed leeks, which was a shame. I had to ask for my horseradish sauce however, the roast came out with lots of delicious gravy and normally I have to ask for more - however, there was enough so I didn't have to, which is a big win in my books. The staff could have been slightly more friendly - they were really busy yes however, they seemed a bit exasperated and not very engaging, which was a shame. Overall, it was up there with one of the best I've had and I would recommend it to friends.
Great as always. Friendly staff, good food. Great wine and good beer. This place has survived and flourished as it does what it does consistently well.
Ok, but menu and service pretty average and unexciting, and table layout made it feel very cramped. An average local gastropub but nothing to write home about.
Food and service pretty good. Would recommend the Sunday roast, would have been 6 starts just that the Irish coffee wasn't quite hot enough! But tasted good!
Lovely pub, attentive service although a little slow on the drinks when we ordered. I had the mezze, which was absolutely delicious but I expected more for £9.00. We went the other week too to watch the rugby and the atmosphere was good considering it's a small pub and not known for showing sports as much as others. Lovely to have dogs in there too! Highly recommended.
