Nice food and very pleasant place to eat dinner or lunch
A really fantastic meal and wine with a lovely atmosphere!
Schickes Ambiente, hervorragendes Essen, gutes Bier! Und sehr freundliches Personal...
Really nice setting good food and service will definitely come back
The food and the ambiance were great but the service was very slow overall. It took them 30 minutes to take our order, and another 20 to get us the bill. After that, when we were calculating the split the waitress left and didn't come back for another half an hour.
Quick service, OK food, but the seats are rather uncomfortable.
Very enjoyable lunch, interesting menu choices, excellent food and good value.
All very enjoyable. good food and a nice atmosphere. .
Unsure if this was because I was using a tastecard or is the usual level of service but it left much to be desired. We were seated on the worst table in the place despite it being empty. Unsure if ordering at the bar is the way you're meant to do it (if it is we weren't told) but no-one came to speak to us once so I had to go up and order. I ordered and then after 5 minutes was told neither of the items I wanted were available. I ordered differently but was sadly a little disappointed with my main. The meatloaf however was nice, as was the strudel. No-one provided us with a menu to choose dessert, luckily we had looked earlier. No-one gave us the bill. I had to go to the bar for any bit of service I required. I am extremely disappointed and will not be returning.
The starter of Swaben cheese and warm pretzel was really good, but the mains were just average. My main was basically like macaroni cheese - fine but boring and not in any way different or exciting. Staff were lovely. Overall, simply mediocre - shame, but true.
Nice restaurant, within a short walk of my hotel. Easy reservations via web site. Our table was waiting for us. The meal was tasty, the portions typically German were large. The sever seemed dismayed that I barely made a dent in my plate. I assured her several times that the meal was delicious (it was). Like a typical restaurant In Germany we needed to ask for the bill (when you haven’t been to Europe in a while, you forget the little differences. The restaurant was clean, had a modern vibe, with current music, lots of bass. This is a good non kitschy German restaurant.
Super service, food was delicious and we also had the Kaiserschmarren to share for afters. Was lecker 😋 This was our second visit to Kensington Stein’s and won’t be our last. We go often to Richmond and Kingston Stein’s too which are also very good.
I went with a small group and everything went smoothly. The food was good, the atmosphere nice and came fast considering it was quite busy. Will definetely return.
It was a pleasant experience and the food was delicious.
Perfect. Absolutely perfect. Food was, outstanding and will love to go again
Really enjoyed both the food and the atmosphere. Dog and family friendly were further positives.
Had a great time! Amazing food! Made me feel like home in Austria! Haven’t had an Almdudler in years! Thanks for accommodating our wishes!
Food very good But very disappointed that menu reduced due to no chef available. Had been looking forward to proper German Eisbein . Only simple sausage meal available. For next time please inform on issue like that up front
Delicious food - and weissbeer. (Took a bit too long to arrive.) Very good service and value for money. A bit noisy but we managed to get a quiet-ish table. Excellent glass of riesling as well.
Very cosy restaurant with good German food and convenient for the Royal Albert Hall
Food was good but the service was extremely slow which marred the experience
The Schnitzel could have had more flavour. The seating area to the right has less than ideal eye contact with the waiting staff.
I didn't like it as much as on my previous visit. It's a very basic place and a bit overpriced.
friendly service and helpful waitress but the wine was warm and below par food for the price!
Delicious apple strudel and a great espresso martini! Look forward to trying the rest of the menu soon.
Half the menu was not available and service was pretty slow and unfriendly.
Pleasant appearance and good food. The person greeting us was off hand which didn't start the meal on a good footing. After that the service was slow and we had to abandon waiting for our dessert.
Excellent place, great food and service. Good value, generous portions
We decided to try dining here as it’s very close to the Albert Hall where we were going to a BBC proms concert at 7pm. Arrived at 5 pm & the restaurant was quite quiet. We expected to dine without any issue and leave in time to get our seats. Drinks delivery was slow. We ordered from the pre-theatre fixed price menu. Eventually we got our dessert & managed to pay the bill at 6.50 pm after much hassling of the waiter. In recognition of the poor service, he offered to delete the standard service charge. I would not recommend this venue for anyone time pressed for a concert, etc
I wanted a light meal and there weren't dishes that appealed to me
The staff was very helpful, and attentive. The food was delicious. We'll be back.
This is a cafe serving authentic but basic overpriced German food. Good German beers.
Great german food - service a bit unpredictable but good enough if chased. Good ambiance
The overall experience was very poor. Started with the waitress not knowing what was on the menu. As the venue got busy the service dropped! Half an hour after we order we were told our food wasn't served at the weekend. We order dessert but that took so long we decided to leave. We then had to wait a long time for our bill and then we were charged for the food they don't serve at the weekend! Service charge was already included. If we had the energy by then we would have asked for it to be removed. No apology from staff for bad service no goodbye or thank you when we left. Other diners were dis satisfied and I hope they feedback the same
My guest was at first confused by the menu being primarily in German but soon found what she wanted. The waiting staff were personable and friendly. For a restaurant labelled BERLIN there was a remarkable amount of Austrian food. The décor was simple. The level of music was OK at lunchtime but when I had gone by one evening it sounded pretty loud.
Waited 15mins just to get asked for a drink order in a third full restaurant. When we finally ordered, we weren’t notified the main would come out 5 mins after the starters, when we asked for the main to come out later it was brought out 1 min later again. Food was nice. When we had finished our meals, we were left for 15mins, when we finally flagged down a member of staff they only brought the bill and left the food on the table. Overall, nice food, awful service.
The food was all right, but service is horrible. There were not enough waiter/waitrose available..
The flammkuche is amazing... There is a little terrace but was fully booked. Nice place with good music.
We really enjoyed our Sunday evening dinner. Everyone was helpful and friendly and nice choice of great beers. Food was nice and will definitely go back!
We sat outside enjoying the weather and had delicious food I had 6 mini sausages with potato puree and I loved it
Horrible loud Latino music blaring that started just as our food arrived. Hopefully they put an end to this because the Stein’s brand deserves better.
lovely food and drinks! Staff friendly and happy to help, shame the quark apple strudel was not available today, 12/7/19
Really nice restaurant, great food, we will certainly come back again.
service was slow, being in the area with tables, felt cut off and difficult to attract attention; menu no good for a coeliac, even the special salmon was rather dried and as the sauce had flour they gave me small salmon just on rice, quite expensive for what it was, no attempt to accommodate; wife's schnitzel was tough, wont be going again.
Great german food!!! I am from Germany so I can compare!
Service was disappointing, especially since it was a quiet time.
It’s a real hidden gem serving good German food at very reasonable prices. It has a large garden area for eating out but the experience was slightly marred by the extremely noisy building work taking place directly next door ( over which of course they have no control). Sun umbrellas or some type of shade protection would be welcome. Service was outstanding.
The food turned up at different times for each of our party. The mains arrived before we had finished starters. We seemed to be invisible to staff.
First time visit and really impressed, the staff were friendly and helpful, the food delicious, and as we were going to the Albert Hall for the matinee it was really handy, If I have a criticism at all it is that when I booked wanting the pre theatre menu I was not informed this was not available on a Sunday. However it will not stop me coming again.
We had both decided to order a dish each , then we got pushed by waitress we felt to order a sharing platter as she said it was better option for what are had ordered . Which we in fact we didn’t like since it was nothing like the two dishes we had planned to order . We also had to wait a very long time for our bill .
