Sokrates Taverna – Sale

What an amazing restaurant. A must visit when in Sale.

So disappointed, booked the restaurant for 6.30 for four people and then amended the booking for 7.15. We received a confirmation to advise this had been updated via email. When we arrived at the restaurant we were told our table had been given away and that they would phone us within the next hour to inform us if there was a table. Meanwhile we went for a drink in a local bar, an hour later we hadn’t received a call back so had to walk back to the restaurant only to be turned away for a second time.

I can't exaggerate how good this restaurant is. Service fantastic food excellent such a friendly atmosphere i always think back to my holidays in Kefalonia. Been before and will continue going. Wether in a group or as a couple the service and food the same. Love the place.

Went to celebrate my wife’s birthday. Sokrates is as fabulous as always - lovely food and generous portions. Excellent range of gluten free options as well.

Great atmosphere, good, heartly food and excellent service ! I always take the meze and ifI feel peckish a veggie main. Vegetarian meze are great. As a main, Spanakopita, gigantes or the veggie stew are great. Went with meat- eater who loved the moussaka. Family- freiendly too

Lovely service and amazing food! Good portions, has always been good here. Feta saganaki is amazing! And spinach and feta pies to die for! Kleftico was full of flavour and prawn saganaki the same.

This was our 3rd visit and every time we have received the warmest of welcomes and excellent service. We have both tried a number of different dishes and have enjoyed them all.

Amazing authentic greek food and quick service. Really affordable. Love the pork skewers and the stifado. Came with really fluffy rice. Dessert was more than excellent. Thank you!

Great meal at Sokrates with my friend last night. Had the Midweek Meze for £14.50 each. More than enough choice - so much food and it was really tasty. The guy who served us was lovely, so helpful explaining what each dish was. Lovely relaxing evening and very reasonable too, including the drinks. Will definitely be back, thank you!

Excellent Greek style meal. Particularly liked the feta saganini. Will definitely visit again. Would have had the mere, but, from previous experience, knew we would have had difficulty doing it justice!

It is what it is, good wholesome Greek food served with the same relaxed attitude that makes Greece a great place to visit. The restaurant is authentic to the majority of those you would find on any Greek island with exposed electric wires and pictures and ornaments to reflect the culture. The food and wine is very good and very reasonably priced. If it wasn't for the fact that it is in the centre of Sale you would consider a stroll down to the beach after a hearty meal, well worth a visit.

This was our first time at this Greek restaurnt in Sale. Great food and the staff made us feel very welcome. We shall be returning!

Hot, well presented, tasty and good service. Would go again. Particularly the waiter service which was superb. Even my young son enjoyed it and it was his first time. Recommended

The staff was very friendly and our food was server quite fast. As it was our first visit to a Greek restaurant we didn't know what to expect but the food was really nice. They also offer mid week cheaper menus.

The meal was quite good, not the best meal we have had, but passable, and we will probably go there again another time in the future

The mousaka was a little dry but otherwise a great meal! It was lovely to have Retsina -our favourite. The skewers were excellent & portion size just right!

Lovely atmosphere. The food was great so it was difficult for us to leave any but we were so full with the quantities. The waiters and waitress were very polite and attentive, Definitely go back.

Nice food, friendly service. Reasonable price. Been a few times now, always enjoyable. Did have to chase for the bill at the end though, after waiting a while.

Very nice restaurant, initially they got the drinks order wrong, but it was sorted quickly, the main course was average. The dessert was fab. When it came to paying we’d been charged for the drinks. This was soon sorted. For me this was an average meal out and the staff should of paid a little more attention to what we were ordering.

The most delicious food, excellent service, friendly staff and great atmosphere. We were a party of five, some of whom tasted Greek food for the first time including my grandson who is a chef!

Fantastic food(we had the meze), fantastic service & fantastic value. repeat visit soon. Need to book as it gets very busy. The cheesecake with figs in red wine to die for.
