Sokrates Taverna – Sale

Very noisy. But great food. Would go again. The dessert menu was a little limited, otherwise there was lots of choice. Would recommend to others.

Excellent food and great service. Made to feel more than welcome within a lovely atmosphere. Our first visit but not our last. Thanks to all making it a great evening.

From the first warm welcome, it was wonderful. Lovely food that we didn't have to wait long for to eat, Sokrates Taverna in Sale is a lovely place to dine out in. Thoroughly recommended!

Excellent food , great service and a friendly atmosphere , used a 20% off voucher which made it really cheap aswell , will definitely be going back

We booked same day we wanted to go. Arrived on time no waiting for our table. The meza we had, was excellent, too many courses but we ploughed through, thoroughly enJoyed everything. Great attention for staff but not intrusive would recommend this restaurant. Feel like we spent an evening in Greece it was good and we will return.

Great start to the festive period. Excellent food and service in a bustling atmosphere. We enjoyed all the food ( meze ) but had to take some home as to much, but to good to waste.

Very good experience. Lovely meal on New Year's Eve, good food and service. The mixed meze was very enjoyable looks of variety just too much! Would recommend.

Great food & wonderful staff. Looked after 4 adults & 2 kids brilliantly. Even ran to local shop to get mayonnaise for our 5 year old!!

Very tasty food and what I do enjoy is it's a place where you can hear your dinner ompanion, no overly loud background music. Call me old fashioned but dining out is about, good food, good wine and good conversation. Sokrates manages to cater for all these.

The meal was excellent we were a group of four,two shared the Mezzanine one had fillet of chicken and the last person had the large mixed kebabs the device was first class we had a wonderful eve

The food was excellent, enjoyed by everyone in the party. Two of them moved from Sale some years ago and were delighted to find the restaurant, as good as when they were regular customers.

Great place to have a family meal- mezes banquet was lovely! Lots of traditional Greek dishes, well presented and very tasty. Vegan options available too. Would return

So much food great dish after great dish, the veggie meze is superb, exercise for the palate , and way too much laughing, very enjoyable experience, friendly helpful staff.

Food was delicious and service friendly and attentive. Children were extremely happy and enjoyed the meal. We ordered the banquet which was a great choice as we got a selection of almost everything. Hope to visit again soon.

We went on a Saturday evening, good job we booked as it was pretty full even at 18:30. We chose the meze banquet which meant we had a little bit of loads of different dishes. Needless to say we didn't finish it as there was so much even for 3 people. Great service and good atmosphere. Will go back.

Friendly service and tasty good quality food and wine as always. There are so many restaurants to eat in around Sale and it is a testament to Sokrates Taverna that they are still going. Nice enough environment to dine in and would easily score a 5 if the decor and facilities were updated.

Enjoyable evening, food pretty good, but probably better to experience a night out when you're in a big group trying all the meze an that.

Poor quality of food, calamari far too much batter, served with a bit of lettuce and chips ( frozen) not a good experience and priced way to high

We had the meze. Food was amazing, and there was lots of it! We had the house red and white and they were really good wines. There was friendly staff and a nice honest atmosphere! We will definitely return.

Great food and fairly priced. We keep going back and we love the mezze. We always leave stuffed! Shame the calamari comes with freezer chips - that lets it down a bit.

Will be dining ere again good food and lots of it, went for the lighter meze and bottle house red think i will try one of the smaller dishes next time.

Absolutley love sokrates. The mezze is great value and the food is some of the best greek food you will find. Can't wait for the next visit.

Food wasn't bad although a bit overpriced. i) In their website they state that closing 12pm on Friday. Unfortunately they closed at 10:30pm and kindly asked to leave at that time. ii) Usually they serve a desert after you finish your meal. Instead of that they gave us a tiny mint chocolate. iii) I has a 20% discount voucher which not applied on the bill. I had to remind them to do that. Very disappointed and given the fact that I am Greek makes that even harder. Probably not going there again.

Great food however the various menus on offer make things quite complicated. Also the staff could be a little friendlier and spend a little more time explaining the multiple menu options. Portions also seem to be closely scrutinised - we asked for more pitta to finish the dips off and the waitress brought us 1 - for a party of 5!

Food was very good, good selection of vegetarian menu as well. Will definitely visit again and recommend to my friends. Well done team at socrates

The service and food are top quailty, we had the taverna Meze which I think is the best way to experience greek food, little bits of goodiness all over the place!

Delicious food and great service, what more do you need. Went midweek so it was quiet but still a nice atmosphere. Would definitely go again.

It's always a pleasure to go to Socrates,apart from the really great food(super for veggies) all the staff are really lovely and welcoming.Can't fault it all!

Gorgeous greek food, lovely authentic looking restaurant and good, friendly service! This is regular place for Greek food and always recommending and bringing new people.

The food was excellent especially the starters. We Had a great meal but we should have just had either starters or main course as both was too much food!

Another excellent meal, as ever. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere, and authentic Greek food, occasionally with a creative twist. The spanakopita (spinach and feta filo parcel) was stunning, and that cheesecake - made with Greek yoghurt and topped with spiced baby figs - is so irresistable I have to order the same thing every visit!

Another really enjoyable meze in comfortable and friendly surroundings. The staff as attentive as ever and nothing is too much trouble for them. We have been many times before and will no doubt return many times in the future.

I chose the Taverna based on Trip Adviser reviews that ranked it as second best Greek restaurant in Manchester. The reviews were justified and the meal was excellent. It somehow has the feel of a Greek village taverna with a friendly welcome.

Excellent as always. Recommend the meze for the best way to get a bit of the best of everything. House wine also excellent. Will be back soon.

Delicious food and a really relaxing atmosphere. The meze banquet is huge! I would definitely recommend the filo spinach parcels as a main dish :)

Yummy! Food was delicious & far too much of it but had a v enjoyable meal & the calamari was delicious, the halloumi was perfect & the dips were amazing!

Really enjoyed the mezze we both had. The food had great flavour & seemed very authentic. Only thing I wasn't took keen on was the chicken with spinach.

Fantastic Greek food! Best we've had outside of Greece! Great value in a quaint atmospheric restaurant. We go 3-5 times per year and would definitely recommend!
