As always the food is fantastic cannot fault it . Normally same can be said for the service unfortunately on this particular evening we were kept waiting rather a long time to place our order :(
Food was good and really good choice on the menu. Service friendly however atmosphere but flat as felt like a cafe rather than a restaurant
The food as usual was excellent and the service very good. As it was Bank holiday the restaurant was busy and very full and rather noisy.
Love this restaurant ... Food is always top quality and the service is brilliant ... A must visit !!
Very good service and fantastic food. I don't think I have ever had better Indian food and I loved in Dubai... Well done guys keep the quality up!
Excellent, subtle food and quick, attentive service. Would recommend it as one of, if not the best Indian restaurant in Oxford. Good selection of wines and beers
Neighborhood restaurant that offers wonderfully delicious food, pleasant atmosphere, and kind service, though the staff can tend to be a bit inattentive at busy times.
The food was absolutely lovely. Restaurant is very nice. My only complaint was we felt rushed, we don't eat out often together and was a shame we felt we couldn't enjoy it as much as we could have as felt they wanted us gone. Table booked for 6 we were out by 7:10pm and that was with starters too hardly time for our food to go down.
We have been to Qumins quite a few times over a few years and it never disappointed us. The food is amazing, there are lots of vegetarian and even vegan options. If you ask for veggie dishes specially made without butter and dairy they are happy to do it. A small suggestion I could make is that it would be nice to have more options of home-made indian desserts (even vegan ones!) instead of mainly pre-made ones, but that doesn't change my rating at all, the staff is very friendly and the food is really excellent. I have sent friends there too and they were very happy as well. We will go back and we definitely recommend it.
My first experience of this delicious restaurant, highly recommended by friends and now by me too! The food was delicious - both the carnivores and vegetarians in our party were impressed, and we had our first taste of an Indian White wine. Will definitely be back!
Our food was excellent and we were impressived with the friendly and attentive service. We all agreed that if we are back in Oxford, we'd re-visit Qumins!
excellent food both veg and non- veg. We liked the Okra, the most. The best ever cooked Okra in any restaurant. Friendly and brilliant service
Fantastic food and great service. Getting a table for four on the same day was great. Menu is varied and offers good choices for all parts of the meal. In all a great experience.
The food was excellent, there was good advice about selection of dishes, the outside seating was just what we wanted, and the whole experience was full of quiet enjoyment. They are very hospitable.
Great food as ever, cannot be faulted. The service wasn't up to the usual standard, but everyone is allowed their off days! I'll still go again.
An excellent place, with some brilliant dishes I have not seen elsewhere, and a knowledgable and flexible staff. I went there with several people whose dietary requirements I did not fully know, including two vegetarians and another person violently allergic to other ingredients. We got what we ordered, with some excellent adjustments, and everyone left happy. The best Indian in Oxford: the only reason not to go is that my friends and I will be there ...
It was OK. At least the food did not taste off which is often the case in Indian restaurants. However, no one goes to eat out in winter in order to sit in the cold. How about turning the radiators on?I know it can get warm later but it was early in the evening. Also, one of the waiters was friendly ,the other was not.We do not pay good money for this lack of warmth more ways than one. Nice ,clean decor. Reasonable food. Good to be open on New Year's Day. More warmth, both in temperature and humanity please!
Great food and service as always :) excellent value for money .., and if you want something that's not on the menu just ask ... Will be returning very soon
This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Oxford. The food is always so fresh tasting and the service always friendly and efficient. Will be going again.
Very good food, one of the best curries we have had actually. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was quick and efficient
The food was overpriced, specially the dahl and the korma and chicken massala were a bit too sweet for my liking. However the service was superb and the boking very easy.
Beautiful curry - nicest one I've had in a long time....surely the best in Oxford? Staff were very friendly and helpful - we shall return!
Delicious food. Mohili was scummy, garlic naan crisp but soft. Son loved bombay potatoes! Great n friendly service. Reasonable prices. Welcoming decor. Def going back!!
This was lovely, tasty and innovative food in a modern setting. Main dishes are cooked to order, so that would explain the extended wait. Portions were rather small - just 3 large cubes of fish in one dish; and another where the modest meat portion was "swimming" in sauce. I will give it another go to see if these issues are just one-offs though.
The food was fantastic and menu advice was much appreciated; spot on. The service was also great. We called ahead to alter our booking time and the staff we very amenable; excellent evening.
Wonderful cooking, delightful, friendly service. Altogether a perfect evening. And this is what we always find at Qumins. It is our favourite Oxford restaurant. Also there is an excellent car park behind the shops opposite.
We liked the modern interior and were immediately greeted and shown to our table. The menu had some unusual dishes and I loved the chicken livers! Unfortunately the sardine starter had sold out. All the main courses were very good although I wasn't keen on the chef's specialty, lamb korma, on the bone, it was a bit greasy. The rest though, very tasty. Definitely recommend it, nice ambience and lots of diners.
Great food, but a little expensive. Lamb chop tandoori very good, so was biriyani. Service also very good and the atmosphere very lively and fun.
Having booked previously for our party of 4, we found the staff very helpful, the service was quick but we were not hurried between courses, the atmosphere was pleasant and the food was excellent. ..what more could you ask for?
This restaurant is amazing I love it will Defos go Back again and again lovely staff great service amazing food
Excellent food and service. No problem accommodating a vegan diet. Highly recommended
We had a late dinner (8:30) on a weeknight, after going to a film nearby. The food was excellent and the service very attentive. I had a lamb dish and my husband ordered sea bream, which we don't often have at home. Both were very tasty.
A very tasty meal and excellent service. What more could you want? Thank you!
The restaurant was fully booked and had a great atmosphere. The staff were helpful when ordering the food - full of suggestions depending on level of spice - and made great suggestions when ordering wine. The food we well presented and full of flavour - the coconut rice was an absolute winner! We didn't order pudding as we were too full but will go back to try other time.
Lovely food and pleasant service. We would definitely come again.
Nice place...convenient to parking. Food was good but not great in my view. I found it a bit bland. The meats were well cooked although I found both the chicken tikka and our lamb chop starter to be a bit dry and the lamb chop was quite tough. The goan fish currey (with cod) was a bit bland as was the lamb shank chef speciality (name escapes me). Overall, I would say that the restaurant is very nice and the service was attentive for the most part. The decor is modern and very pleasant so I will certainly give it one more try!
A very nice meal and environment with friendly service. Despite one of our party arriving late felt no pressure to order or move on. Would definitely come back.
Excellent food, and the owner is extremely hospitable. The koliji puri starter is particularly good, and not one widely seen elsewhere. Splendid value all round.
Really good food, selections of wine ,quick service, but not overly friendly.
Disappointing visit which made us wonder where all the good reviews came from?
Can't fault this restaurant for food. Great menu choice, good quality and best tasting curries in the city in my opinion. Lovely modern decor. If I had to criticise, I think it would be that the tables for two are a little small, especially if you order a few side dishes.
Bombay fish curry was amazing with the seabass flavour still coming through. Best chicken tikka and onion bhajis ever!
A lovely little place on St Clement's road. It provides different and better food than your average curry house. Not your standard unidentifiable curry sauce. Lovely staff. Definitely would go again.
It was a pleasure.Great food and service. I always recommend this place.
Husband loves the tom yum soup and the restaurant kindly made me a starter no longer on the menu when requested. Delicious vegetarian main meals. Spinach dhal very salty and inedible: replaced within 5 mins when we raised and not charged for. Passion-fruit sorbet really refreshing. My favourite xx
Food was excellent and the service was 5 star. Very good value for money.
The atmosphere was lovely, staff were friendly, service was (even though it was a friday evening) and the food was great and well priced. Would definitely recommend.
Staff were friendly and service was fantastic. The food wasn't as described on the menu however so was a bit disappointing. For example, I ordered a 3* hot madras but it wasn't spicy at all. Maybe I should try the vindaloo next time!
The staff are what made the night, excellent service.comfy seating and again great service from all members of staff, they could not do enough for us on my sisters birthday.
At the detriment of making it more difficult to book a table at my favourite restaurant, I owe them nothing less than a hearty commendation. Their food and service is consistently good, with lots of variety if you fancy deviating from the standard Indian restaurant fare, and the quality of ingredients and flavours of the dishes are just great!
