Polpo - Soho

Good food but service very patchy. We had booked a table but when we arrived it was chaotic. Every time we wanted water/cutlery/to order more food it was difficult to get hold of a waiter.... didn’t quite live up to expectations for that reason

Restaurant was very busy, we had to wait for wine menu and quite some time passed before we managed to place our food order.Each time we had to catch attention of our waiter and even that wasn’t easy. Our waiter was nice and polite but clearly over stretched.Portions were smaller than last time I was there but food was as good as always.

Food portions were too small. You pay to get out hungry. Fish was not good at all.

Polpo Soho is a brilliant place. Food is out of this world, charming and intelligent people work there and atmosphere is great

Disappointing performance from one of my (previously) favourite restaurants in central London. They had run out of Prosecco (so no aperitivos), also no house white or house red available. First two choice of menu items (Fritto misto and Hake) were not available we discovered after ordering. Not acceptable at 3pm on a Sunday afternoon. Waiter didn't write down our order so two dishes were missing and one had incorrect topping. Second waiter dropped dishes twice when he was collecting plates. Very disappointed as this was a supposed to be a special occasion lunch at one of my favourite places to eat.

We have been using the restaurant's cook book, Polpo, and were in London so decided to visit. The food was good, but not great. I can think of a dozen restaurants in Venice that are at least as good. But if you are not in Venice, this is a nice opportunity to experience Venetian enotecca food in London. Also, a good selection of Italian wines. Worth a visit.

Felt very much like a chain but the food was good!

Polpo used to be great but the quality has really gone down sadly. The fish dish was badly cooked and the fish wasn’t fresh. Meatball tasteless and service slow. Won’t come back.

All good, a simple nice restaurant, not expensive. Booking with Quandoo was very good

Very amiable lunch with an old friend. Service was discreet and advice on the menu good and to the point. Food was good-ish, nothing to really call memorable but perfect for a relaxed lunch that was more about the conversation than fine dining.

Beautiful restaurant, great food, great people. But the music was way too loud, and the food came way too fast. We were stille enjoying our starter when the main course arrived. Felt like they wanted to see us leaving as soon as possible to fill the table again. Shame about the good food.

It was a good visit and the food was good. Service was a bit slow at the end but very cordial and helpful. The place is a bit noisy for my taste but for a younger crowd its probably just right (classic rock was certainly to my taste!). Great place to have a simplified meal either pre-theatre or otherwise.

Lovely visit, food good but not as good as expected.

We were seated very quickly but that was the only “quick” service we received. I shall not be returning on the Sassanid the service and the quality of the food. This is a shame as we had been to Polpo sometime ago and really enjoyed the experience. There are far better places to eat in London where you receive pleasant and efficient service as well as value for money.

Paid the bill in cash then waited 20 minutes for change then had to ask for it as I assume the staff thought the inclusive service was not enough and they should be receiving 25% the somewhat arrogant waiter then brought it all in 50 pence coins ! We definitely WILL NOT be revisiting Polpo as I like to decide how I spend my money

Been here a few times and food is good! Loved that they had the popular bacaro, All'Arco, in residence for a few days. Really enjoyed it!

Nice atmosphere, nicely informal, nice food. Odd that they’d completely run out of beer when a Birra Moretti would have made it on a warm day.
