I decided to have just the cod and chips and garden peas, but was charged the same price as the menu item......is that right, was a bit confused.
Service and food were good with generous portions. Only gave a rating of 4 as the wine choices, especially the red were not to our taste.
Lovely decor, superbly prepared food and excellent service. What's not to like! Lovely decor, superbly prepared food and really excellent service. What's not to like!
We had a delicious Sunday lunch. Beef was so tender and the Yorkshire puddings were amazing. Great choices for each course .Brilliant value. We will definitely return.
Staff were all lovely but food let it down. Each course was very dry almost like it had been over cooked or more likely, reheated. Too pricey for what it was.
Gorgeous setting and ambience, delicious food and drink. Perfect for our date night. Always enjoy a visit to Plates & Co. Will be back soon!
Absolutely fantastic. We ate there last night and once again lovely food great service and would thoroughly recommend. We will definitely be going back there soon.
Great food. Attentive staff. Good prices. Recommended. The building is beautiful too. It is in an old church so beautiful stained glass windows too. We were entertained by a great singer too!
the food was great but the service was appalling - slow with some of the things we ordered not actually arriving but being put on the bill
Lovely setting and great food. The vegetarian and vegan menu was really good. The staff were attentive, friendly and professional. A lovely evening all ground.
Amazing food! Excellent polite & friendly service. Highly recommend, was a gift for our wedding! The building is incredible! Definitely come again if in area. 😃
Great meal and a lovely environment, service was swift and unobtrusive. we will definitely come back. guy making the cocktails was a real comic and cocktail were divine.
Nice meal as usual, good service and all at a great price. If you haven’t been yet then you really should visit this lovely restaurant.
This is a excellent gorgeous restaurant set in old church. The food and service are fabulous and great value for such fine dining. Can't go wrong
The food was excellent. Friendly and efficient service. Lovely setting. We particularly noticed how clean and spotless it was. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant.
Excellent service and food in a beautiful setting. Perfect for a friend's catch up or a romantic meal with a partner. Can not wait for another visit.
Lovely venue, nice choice of interesting food. Would recommend and definitely come again. Liked the layout in the old converted church with some quirky little areas for those seeking extra privacy.
Nothing was mentioned on web site that Monday's was a seriously reduced menu. Only 3 options. Steak, Cod or Tomato risotto. Forced to have the risotto. Tasted like rice in cream of tomato soup. Poor choice of starters also. Prawns were cold (weren't meant to be) Sauce was quite unpleasant. Steak however was cooked well.
Starter we chose was not available. Would have been easier if we had known this when given the menu. We go every month so hopefully next time will be fine
Food quality is high and the staff were very attentive without being overly intrusive..The theatrical setting enhances an already positive experience. Excellent value for money - would highly recommend
Great food, really great food. A complete pleasure to eat at this restaurant. Would come more often if we lived nearby. good luck for the future.
Reallt excellent food in a beautiful setting. Impressed to see a separate, extensive vegan and vegetarian menu. Looking forward to going back again very soon!
warm greeting, excellent service, fantastic food. First class as always. We highly recommend this restaurant for consistent attention to detail and quality food served by caring staff
Excellent food and service. I marked down a point because they put peas in the cabbage, I love cabbage so was pleased to see it on my plate; I then spotted the peas and was disappointed. That said that is only my personal preference.
WOW!!! Stunning restaurant in what was originally a church. Stained glass windows give it a fab ambience. The steaks are cooked to perfection & the chips are to die for.....yum yum.
From walking in to leaving we were treated like we were the only customers in there, even though the restaurant was full. The staff are wonderful and the food was delicious. Would definitely recommend.
The food and ambience of the restaurant were fantastic. The staff were fun and efficient. Food came in a timely manner helping to make the evening an overall 10/10 experience.
Such a shame. We have been there several times before. This time it was slow service, the main was not up to standard. They discounted the bill. Such a disappointment.
Always a fantastic meal, atmosphere and service Happy to accommodate cocktails in their outdoor space, then inside and out again for our final course Sensational quality, interesting building The best in Westbourne, Bournemouth, Dorset.... in my humble opinion
Even though we’ve lived in Bournemouth for some time this was the 1st time we’ve dined here and were extremely pleased with the service/food and atmosphere. When looking for somewhere to dine we tend to aim for Michelin star restaurants and this experience was very close to it. Would highly recommend and will be booking again
The food was very good overall, athough, the two sticky toffee puddings were rock hard and difficult to eat. The staff were very pleasant and the place had a nice atmosphere.
Delicious food and excellent service. Throughly enjoyable. We have already booked to return with friends. It is a great place for a celebration on a Saturday.
Everything was absolutely brilliant. However we were not prompted to order side dishes so were a little unexpectedly put out by the portions. If we had been prompted about the side dishes all of us would have ordered them as we could have eaten more. Otherwise excellent food and service.
The building inside is breathtaking the food is to die for, however we were seated at 7.45 and didn't get asked for a drink for 25 minutes, 45 minutes later our starter arrive, 50 minutes later our main arrived and so it went on until 10.45
The food was absolutely delicious - the best we’ve eaten in a local restaurant for a while. The staff were really friendly and efficient. The setting is beautiful. A great evening - thank you!
Lovely food and an amazing place to go as a couple or with friends
To start there was a very friendly greeting. The food we had was served on hot plates (very important). All our steaks were cooked the way we liked and the sweets were also excellent. The house red wine went down equally as well! Very reasonably priced will go again.
We asked for our beef rare but it came well done. After sending it back 20 minutes later they brought us steak. Neither of us like or wanted steak. We sent it back, paid for our drinks and left hungry.
Wonderful location, food and service. The roast beef dinner was the best we've had away from home and the wine and beer selection was excellent. Will definitely return.
A truly fantastic evening. Food was delicious. Staff were incredibly friendly. And the atmosphere was perfect. Ten out of ten. Will definitely be back soon to savour more off the menu.
Had a very enjoyable evening meal in beautiful surroundings, the service was first class and wine waiter very knowledgeable. As usual food was cooked to perfection.
Plates is located in the upper half of what was once a church. The background to the cooking area still has the original stain glass windows The restaurant offers two menus, with one specifically catering for vegetarian/vegaj. Both menus offer a handful of starters, mains and desserts. The slow cooked beef I had on the 21st July just meelted in the mouth. Will definitely be visiting again soon.
Wasn't happy as the tables outside were very dirty and black from the smoke. We had to go and sit inside, although the restaurant was unfortunately empty... Food was OK.
Having enjoyed a lovely evening meal last month I decided to take some work colleagues there for lunch. The first menu we were given basically just offered steak and chips or vegetarian options. Nothing else. So we asked and were given 2 set menus, both rather pricey for lunches, £30 or £32. Again we asked if they had a lunch menu and we were given their evening a la carte menu which also consisted of big heavy main meals more suited to people who had all evening to dine, not people on a lunch break. After ordering, the meals took more than 45 minutes to arrive. Quite disappointing.
Really lovely food, great menu I was spoilt for choice, lovely steak & then sticky toffee pudding for desert. Service was excellent, would definitely recommend
Amazing food at such reasonable price. Lovely location. All in all a great experience. The gravy on your Sunday roast is fantastic as is the whole meal. Will be going back
Excellent food and very well presented. Portions were just right and did not overwhelm the plate. Service was very friendly and efficient. Even prepared a pudding for one of our party that wasn't on the menu. Overall a great dining experience in calm and relaxing surroundings. Will take a lot of beating from anywhere in the local area.
Amazing atmosphere, delicious food and excellent service! Would recommend this place to everyone. Good variety of meals and a price you couldn't argue with! Definitely going back!
Friendly and delicious food Clean and the staff took time to chat with us also they gave us a complimentary cocktail as it was our first visit
Fish cakes were potato cakes with two small pieces of salmon and huge hard lumps of potato for £15.50! Staff disinterested until we complained loudly.
