There is great selection of pies and the one I choose was really tasty. Also there is a good range of real ales. The service was of a good standard too.

The food was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The place got a wee bit noisy occasionally and the food took a while to arrive but neither of these things ruined a very fine meal and a nice evening.

It was just as stated. Really nice pies with crunchy homemade pastry, with several vegan and gluten free options. I will surely go back! :)

Pie was not made fresh and took a chain saw to cut it, although inside the pie was really nice. Would not not go back.

everything was great, just a bit cold and draughty, as we were sat in front of on of the doors. Maybe you old need to use one door on cold days?

We all loved our pies--really bloody tasty--and the staff were very friendly, but they were a bit understaffed so the service was a bit slow.

Staff were lovely, food wasn't quick coming out but was very good. Enjoyed our meal their a lot. If anything could be improved I would say choice of desserts (only 1 choice). But otherwise no complaints :) Good vegan options too.

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the meal came out cold the 1st time after we had waited 30 mins then another 20 mins later for it to be rectified... it was still not as hot as it should have been. The pie (I had venison and Stilton my husband had steak and yippee pie ale) was really good but the mash and gravy lukewarm. I was looking forward to this evening out so I felt a bit disappointed. Staff were apologetic and quite rushed off their feet. They were very busy with an NFL game so I will try again, hopefully they won’t be as busy and the meal won’t be cold.

Very enjoyable restaurant - food was great, wide variety of beers and ales on tap. Atmosphere was lively, but not so loud you couldn’t hear one another. Great location in the northern quarter, very close to other bars for after.

Great pies, good beer and friendly service: what more could you want? Not only had a GF pie for me (preferable to order 2 days in advance to be certain of availability) but even advised on choice of GF beers available too.

Lovely evening. Oven was broken (which cannot be helped), but still had a wonderful meal - offered to relocated us to the sister restaurant across the road, but we decided to stay. Brought the pies in from the kitchen across road and couldn't recommend any more. Fantastic food and great value for money

Always great for freshly-made pies with interesting fillings, delicious mash and peas and a wide selection of craft ales. Was a little bit quiet on a weekday lunchtime, but that's no bad thing as we were served quite quickly. Highly recommended.

We've been to Pie and Ale a few times now and always been impressed. The food is wonderful, there's plenty of option and it we all enjoyed what we had. Although this trip we did have a rather long wait for the food even though they weren't too busy which is why I've not given full marks. The main reason we chose Pie and Ale is because they always serve a vegan option so as well as the rest of the group enjoying themselves I loved that it was easy for me to find something to eat too. None of us were happy they charge extra to swap mash fir wedges though, as the pies are already charged a decent amount. The atmosphere is really friendly and laid back and the staff all seem happy and will do whatever they can to help you. Would highly recommend!

Such tasty food but service was very slow and mushy peas were stone cold. Highly recommend the gammon and cheddar pie if you do go!
