The meal was excellent and the staff attentive without being intrusive. We will endevour to return. It was recommended to us and we were not dissapointed.

Great meal and service. Some small changes could have given them an excellent score. For example the tortillas which accompanied the humous were too flavoured.

Excellent menu and food. Friendly staff and cosy setting. Very reasonable prices. Only quibble was when I requested a glass of dry white wine, I got the most expensive on the list ( should have said “house wine”)!

My wife and I just love eating at On the Hill in Ruthin. The food never fails to please and my wife, who can be extremely critical and fussy when it comes to dining out, has all ways come away from there very satisfied. You are always assured a warm welcome by the very efficient and friendly staff. It is a little gem in the Welsh country side.

Food was outstanding, we has 3 mini starters which were delicious then the steak roassini and the seafood kebab, out of this world and the puddings wow - would highly recomment this establishment

From the minute we walked in the door to the moment we left pure joy. An interesting menu from which it is difficult to choose your meal but fortunately the excellent and knowledgable staff are on hand to assist. We enjoyed every mouthful rounded off with an excellent take on Christmas pudding. We traveled 30 miles to eat here and spent virtually every minute of the return journey talking about how much we enjoyed our evening.

A beautiful meal, great atmosphere, fantastic service, all just perfect. The food, as always, was absolutely delicious, and so much that I had to give part of it to my friend to finish. No room for a starter or a pudding although the desserts had a choice of a normal portion or a small taster.

As always lovely food and staff, the beef was to die for. We try to go about four or more times a year, it would be even more often if it wasn't nearly an hour from home. We are never disappointed when we go to, "On the Hill".

Excellent as usual. This restaurant is consistently good with friendly staff and delicious food. I have been many times but never managed a desert yet, but they do look fantastic.

Food and service was good but restaurant upstairs cold we had to keep our coats on appreciate it’s an old building but even a fan heater would have made a difference.

This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. The dishes are inventive and exciting but reasonably priced. And last but not least, service is excellent

We had really good food with all four diners complementing their dish. They are very consistent. Meals came in good time and the service was spot on.

We came for a meal for my birthday with our 4 week old baby. They were very accommodating and helpful with putting us somewhere I could feed and room for the car seat. Food was out of this world. Couldn’t recommend this place more. Lovely staff :-)

The restaurant was lovely with exposed beams, wooden tables and nice lighting. There was a very nice relaxed atmosphere, and even though it was a Tuesday night, it was very busy. The food was nicely presented, and cooked well. The flavours of the dishes were occasionally not quite right (too many sweet components in the savoury dishes) but tasty overall.

Once again we had a beautiful lunch. Friendly and welcoming staff on arrival. Starters of black pudding served with ham hock and a poached egg lightly fried is amazing. Beef bourguignon with vegetables and dauphinois potato was delicious. Shared a dessert of trio of citrus puddings. Highly recommend and can't wait to return.

It is often disappointing to revisit a restaurant and find that values have slipped but not so at “On the Hill”. Once again the menu was varied providing an excellent range of choice. We were asked about allergies as we ordered our food - very important in the light of recent events - and service was efficient and super friendly. Our order came without any delay and all 3 courses were delicious with flavours to excite the taste buds. Very good value and with a lovely ambience this is as good as it gets.

Lovely ambience, such interesting food, delicious flavours , nothing was too much trouble. Made a point of coming here from Cornwall said one of us, me!

We've eaten here on numerous occasions and each time it has been great. The food is exceptional with a varied and interesting menu The waiters/waitresses are young but very attentive and nothing is too much trouble. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

As always, we had a delightful meal. The food is unusual and full of character, but not pretentious. They change much of the menu every month, so even regular diners, like us, can find something different. The service is friendly but efficient.

Have been several times to this restaurant, always first class service/food and value for money. Highly recommend - menu changes monthly but favourites are always listed. The duo of pork is delicious as is the black pudding starter.

Fantastic visit as always. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The decor is cosy and homely. The food is sublime, the beef bourguignon was particularly delicious, the most tender beef I’ve ever eaten. Already looking forward to the next visit!
