Not been to the restaurant for a few weeks but we had an excellent meal as always. Really love the addition of the mini puddings. Can we have mini pavlova too please? 😊😊

We dine out at a different restaurant each week, this is the best in every detail, welcome, staff,food,taste and presentation fantastic through to immaculate loos.

Gorgeous food , always excellent service recommend highly. Fresh homemade produce and nothing is too much trouble. We travel from prestatyn for this restaurant and its well worth the drive.

Fantastic food, great atmosphere and super friendly and helpful staff. My wife and I have been coming to On the Hill ever since we had a wedding meal there 2 years ago. We have been on both of our anniversaries and the restaurant never fails to deliver on quality and price. Awesome place!

We shared the starter with OTH’s own black pudding, which was excellent. For our main my wife had ‘Indian Hake’, which was perfectly lightly spiced; I had the superb ‘Fish Market’, which our postman Eric later told me is the one he always has! Yum! Finally we shared the meringue, ice cream & strawberries. All aided by very friendly staff. We’ll be back as Arnold says!

A delicious dinner with quite unusual dishes, enhanced by the chef’s willingness to redo a sauce to take a food allergy into account. Excellent wines and superlative service!

Excellent restaurant, been here twice in a short space of time. Food is excellent, the chef understands his flavours well. Plates are nicely presented bursting in flavour, with each element cooked to perfection. Service is good, friendly staff. Looking forward to my next visit

It was our first time here and what a lovely experience. The food was absolutely amazing we all had something different and we couldn’t fault any of it, everything was homemade and cooked to perfection. The service was great too. Thank you so much we can’t wait to return :-)

Best restaurant in Wales! Amazing homely service, and surroundings, yet top, top, quality food. Fresh and wonderful flavours. Its easy to find, parking nearby, beautiful scenic village of Ruthin boasting a castle. Perfect spot for a perfect meal!

On the Hill always delivers. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great and the staff are lovely. It really is my favourite place to go out for a meal.

This is a relaxed, classy restaurant with beautiful decor and very pleasant staff. The food is delicious, varied and so tasty. The presentation of food on your plate is astounding and it melts in your mouth! It really is a worthwhile visit. I’ve never been disappointed and would highly recommend. They also serve complimentary pre-starters such as homemade homous dip with sweet potato crisps. A nice touch while you’re waiting for the delicious starters and mains!

Unfortunately I found I was unable to eat the hake at all and had to leave it. My wife had the same and she was OK so clearly I had an allergy to it or something. Our friends were also fine

We have been to this restaurant a few time and it never lets us down, friendly helpful staff an the food was gorgeous couldn’t fault anything. Just wish it was nearer to Hawarden 😊

Good fish selection as we don't eat meat. Small and cosy means you usually have to book as there's not a great deal of room

Food was delicious, as usual, staff very helpful and only not a perfect score as was upstairs and that seemed to mean there was a little bit of a wait (though I wouldn't fancy those stairs). We were on a fairly tight timescale and had to chase up the coffee so we could be sure of getting home in time for the kids.

As always excellent food, service and ambience . A really special place in our beautiful town. We will certainly be going back to sample some more delights.

Really excellent restaurant with a varied and imaginative menu. Recommend the 'Fish Market', very tasty. Be sure to book well in advance as it is a very sought after restaurant, probably the best for miles around.

Great menu choices, food was out of this world. Staff were friendly and attentive. Will be returning in future for sure and would definitely recommend.

Food couldn't be faulted but we did have to wait a little between courses which was disappointing. However,that will not deter us from visiting you again.

We drove over an hour to get here as just love the food ,one of our favourite restaurant's. The only dilemma is what to choose off the menu!

We visited this restaurant for an anniversary meal at the weekend. Both myself and my husband felt it was the food was outstanding, there was a fantastic choice, excellent value and quality. The service was exceptional, nothing was too much trouble and the staff very attentive. We will definitely be back soon.

We had a very pleasant experience at On the Hill on Friday, June 15th. The atmosphere, staff and food were all excellent. The only negative thing was that we had a parking fine, even though we kept to the free 2 hour stay for disabled people.

Lovely afternoon celebrating my daughters 18th and fab college results and my best friend Janette’s Birthday, had a fab meal, lovely food and staff, will be back soon xxx

Two of us had Saturday lunch here, 3 courses for £19.95. There was a good choice on the lunch menu. We had king prawns and black pudding for starters, welsh pork and chicken breast for main, and banana trio and strawberry pavlova for dessert. All the dishes were delicious and well presented. The only fault was a long wait for the bill, as the restaurant was very busy. Overall highly recommended!

The quality of the food was excellent and the service was very good. Our table was upstairs and we enjoyed the surroundings and space that it afforded. The lunchtime deal is very good value, it can be recommended without hesitation!

Great location and great service but best of all reasonably priced food that tases lovely. Car parking close by in the pay and display car park.
