A real treat as always..this restaurant is a little gem. Great food and friendly staff make for a good evening. Will be returning soon to re sample the delights

A small venue but delicious food experience at reasonable cost. An unhurried organised service and an exceptional lunchtime choice of food cooked to an exceptional standard.

Excellent lunch, fresh local ingredients and imaginatively prepared dishes.. Good sensibly priced wine list and a good range of cocktails to add to the enjoyment friendly staff and lovely location. Highly recommended.

By far my favourite restaurant, we have never been let down here. We have always had excellent food and service. Great value for money. Delicious

Good service, good food thoroughly enjoyable experience. A nice variety on the menu and good size portions were presented. The only criticism was the narrow seat which I think was an old church pew, I would have preferred a comfortable chair

One of our favourite restaurants, we have been coming here for a few years and they have been very accommodating now that we have a little one in tow. The lunch menu is great value for money.

First time at this restaurant and whilst it was full the service was great. Exceptional food, cooked to perfection. A great choice too. Will be going back soon.

Fabulous food would recommend this restaurant, the staff are all very helpful and friendly, always take my wife for birthday and wedding anniversary are just for a treat.

Not nice to have all the tables around you being spray cleaned as you are eating your main course. We were not late eating. David

This was the 4th time we have been to On The Hill. This was a present from our daughter. As always, never disappointed, lovely varied menu, fresh produce served by friendly, smiling staff. Very attentive & observant to when you have completed courses or drinks. Have recommended to friends who have also been & enjoyed their experience. Looking forward to the next time. Fabulous evening, wonderful food, lovely choice, good wine list! Only downside, we were a little cramped at the table as even the waiting on staff were struggling to get passed!

If only we lived nearer toRuffin I could eat here every week. From the minute we walked in after climbing the hill we loved it. The greeting, the ambience, the drinks menu, the food menu everything was just perfect for us. I could talk for hours about the quality of the ingredients, the balance the taste on each of the starter, the mains and the dessert. We walked away saying that every part of the menu I could order and enjoy. Thank you for a wonderful evening and can’t wait to visit again even if it is 120 odd miles.

My friend was very impressed yesterday with the food & service, I knew she would be, loving On the Hill as I do. This was her first visit & she & I are all ready planning our next meal there.

Food was beautiful just as we remembered from our last visit. Excellent choice on menu and value for money was excellent as usually a la carte you expect tiny portions whereas this was not the case and we were stuffed by the point of leaving! Service also good. Already looking forward to next time!

Always a lovely meal with excellent service and a lovely atmosphere. Glad that the banana pudding was back on the menu and pleased to see Chilky Cow ice cream on there too.

Excellent food with fantastic service in a very relaxed atmosphere. Not too many menu choices but such comprehensive ingredients within each dish. Presentation matched the menu. Where better to dine on a beautiful bank holiday.

This place is never let me down I swear the food is better every time. Black pudding was amazing and the belly pork had been cooked perfectly. My only regret was that I didn't have enough time to stay for dessert.

Fabulous food and service, but not a full mark as I don't appreciate being called 'sweetheart' by the server, also rather noisy due to a large party nearby.

Top notch restaurant- very popular so book well in advance. On two floors, its table density is somewhat higher than to be expected in a place of this quality. Has a nice roof top patio for those unable to fend off nicotine cravings.

Beautiful food and really friendly staff! The place itself is very cosy but makes the atmosphere more homely. The price of the meal is justified with every bite however the quality of the food makes you feel they've undervalued the level that they offer, which is only good for the customer!

On The Hill is an excellent restaurant. The food is excellent, as is the service. The atmosphere is welcoming and relaxed. I would thoroughly recommend On The Hill to anyone.

Fantastic as always - our very favourite restaurant. Our American friends who accompanied us for the first time, said that it was probably the best meal they’d ever eaten! Praise indeed.

This was our second visit to On the Hill and our overall experience was fabulous. The food was beautifully presented and tasted magnificent. Good sized portions left us all satisfied.

We've been regulars at On the Hill for years, and it never disappoints! The food and service are wonderful, we are lucky to have such a great restaurant, that is also good value in Ruthin.

Very good food but more wait than usual for food. It was very busy so that probably was partly the reason for it. Couldn't fault the actual service.

We enjoyed a delicious two course lunch menu that proved to be excellent value for money. Lovely relaxed atmosphere and high standard, delicious meal. A must visit in Rhuthun. Diolch.

Lovely atmosphere and staff. Interesting and tasty menu, and good portion sizes but some items were a little too salty for me personally this time.

Pleasant staff, small restaurant, good food and an acceptable range of wines, many of which are sold by the glass. The only observation would be that perhaps they need to review portion sizes which are rather large. We live in France and are used to eating a starter, main, cheese and dessert where the portion size is appropriate to such a meal. We would have liked to try the desserts but simply were already too full!

As usual a first class meal, this time lunch. Mixed wild mushrooms on toasted ciabatta were out of this world followed by market fish dish which had incredible flavours and much work put into it.

Outstanding food, only slightly let down by a last minute misunderstanding with the waiter about the tip (she took it for granted rather than let the customer decide)

We had a wonderful lunch at On the Hill yesterday.Food was good and a bit different from the norm.Our only complaint is the service was quite slow the staff were lovely but I do think that two and a half hours is a long tIme for a mid week lunch.
