The restaurant is nice and conveniently placed for tourists. I had the surf and turf and both the steak and the mussels were lovely. The prices are quite high but the service was also very good. A really nice experience.
We had booked a table for a family lunch and when we turned up we were seated upstairs next to a group of 8 men who were drinking and extremely loud. As we had our young daughter with us and once a few expletives started coming from this table, we asked to move and were advised that there were no other tables available. Having no other lunch alternatives booked on a Saturday in Edinburgh, we decided to stick it out and ordered our meal from the set lunch menu. I advised the waiter that two of us would have two courses in the form of a stater and a main and our daughter wanted a main and a dessert. We were initially advised that we couldn’t do this, despite the menu offering 1, 2 or 3 courses as different options. Having refused to accept this, he went and checked with the management and indeed conceded that we could order any two courses that we wanted. I have never experienced this obstacle anywhere, ever. We then waited an hour between the starter and main courses coming, which meant our daughter had only been able to graze on a piece of our bread and the noise from the other table was extremely off putting. Finally when the mains arrived one of the mains was the wrong meal. Despite taking the price of this meal off the bill, this was an extremely poor experience and quite frankly we were exhausted and glad to get out. Definitely not recommended.
Service was poorer than expected. Waiter forgot to bring the sauce to go with the haggis Wellington. Food very good but over priced. Nice atmosphere but wouldn't rush back.
Accoglienza e personale disponibile. Cucina all’altezza delle aspettative. Unico consiglio che darei è di ampliare la carta dei vini che comunque considero già di buon livello.
Small but perfectly formed. Went with 2 fish/steak loving friends. Unfortunately I don’t like either so there was nothing on menu I could eat! I had to have 2 starters! Spanish waiter was very nice
I was there with my husband for my birthday. Despite specifically asking for chicken I got prawns. This meant my husband had his meal at least 10mins before me. From observation I could see other orders being served wrongly. Quality of food was good.
Don't miss surf and turf, it's amazing. Mussels are very good and tasty. Is a very lovely place where having lunch or dinner or just a drink outside watching people passing. Just the negroni needs a rework. Cheers
We have several times in the establishment. Always perfect. Thank you. Didier - Switzerland
Great food & service & great location in a wonderful city! We had the mussels & other seafood which was great & also had the haggis Wellington which was beautiful!
the Food was nice and some variety. However I feel the the food was over priced and medium portions. The atmosphere was ok but the tables were very close together and decor needed addressing. In other words. You know when you think I will splash out for a special occasion and expect everything to be lovely. I couldnt help feel underwhelmed by the atmosphere, decor, size, loudness just wasn’t for me and my partner on our visit to Edinburgh.
Squashed in a corner, not helpful when ordering, very expensive for what we received, smallest scallops I've ever seen and main course mussels were even smaller! £100 not well spentWouldn't return, there are better fish restaurants in the area.
If you want the sea food platter, then 5 stars if you want the salmon 1 star dry over cooked, minuscule portions and TASTELESS, so disappointed, I cried, had to go and have food else where afterwards, so disappointing, my husbands seafood platter was great but I will NEVER eat there again and wold never recommend 😡🤬😡
Great food, lovely atmosphere and really nice staff. Would highly recommend. Not normally a huge fan of mussels, but my husband that then for starters and they were gorgeous!
Excellent food and excellent service. The shared seafood platter was delicious. Would gladly go again. Dave served us well. Wait staff friendly and knowledgeable. Five stars!
This is a good place for a treat. We seem to come for birthdays. Well cooked food (with seafood that is an art) with a good choice. Not rushed and we were all happy.
Excellent food and friendly staff. They make the visit really a pleasure, If I come to Edinburgh in the future we will meet again. Roger & Carina
Incredibly nice staff and the best mussels ever!!! We really enjoyed our evening there, meals, drinks and atmosphere. We were a party of 8 and it was great!
Small restaurant in the Old Town, gentle staff, good quality of the food (mussels to be tried without no doubt), good price/quality ratio. It needs to be booked in advance, but it easy to be done on line.
Nice and tasty dishes made from high quality fresh ingredients. Good service. Prices a little too high (£2.15 for an UHT juice box?!). Average wine list. No draft beer.
Excellent, good mussel and oyster, Fish quality it's high, choice of wine for each price. ice restaurant near GrassMarket easy to reach in the city center.
A family friendly restaurant that doesn’t compromise on the quality of the food. If you like spice, try the mussels with coconut milk, chilli and lime!
It is a small restaurant but with 2 floors. The waiters are helpful with good service. The steak is lovely and there is a wide selection of Whiskey too.
We come back each year, it’s a long way, stansted to Edinburgh but the food is amazing especially the steak, the best EVER!!!!tfy it you will not be disappointed
Delicious lunch, limited lunch menu but really good quality and fair price, lovely service. would definitely recommend and will go back again. Right in the tourist centre of Edinburgh too.
The food is great. A nice place for traveler to try haggis. If I come back to here again,I will take my friend to this restaurant.
Excellent food, great ambience and attentive, friendly staff, the restaurant never disappoints and I will keep coming back again with visitors and colleagues when the opportunity arises.
Lovely staff and the food is excellent. My only gripe is that the tables are so very close together. This was my second visit and both times I've had diners at the adjoining tables appearing to find my conversation much more interesting than their own. And both times I've been stared at by these strangers, most disconcerting!
A place of surprise. The staff are super nice and the food is really good and it is worth for visiting again. We do really enjoy the meal
Thoroughly enjoyed this restaurant with my wife, food and atmosphere great. Service was sharp too. We both had the rib eye steak with sauté potatoes and salad.
Wonderful food lovely atmosphere and the staff were very attentive, we will definitely be returning for another lovely meal in the near future bringing some friends with us.
Incredible food, highly recommend. Great location, service was excellent and I’ll definitely be back!
Good service. Nice food. Helpful with everything asked. Very polite and had a good laugh with them. Greeted very nice and table was nice laid out.
Very good food and excellent service well worth a visit if you're in Edinburgh Just remember to book a table if you're going on a rugby weekend You won't be disappointed
Very friendly and efficient service with great food too , despite being very busy service was most definitely with a smile and the house wine was excellent too !!
Casual, informal atmosphere and very friendly flexible staff who did all they could to make it an enjoyable evening. Good food and the mussels in particular came in large portions.
The food was absolutely delicious the best mussels and steak combo we have had for a very long time. We ate upstairs which is a little basic but the staff were attentive and the quality of the food made up for our surroundings well worth a visit will definitely go back
Lunch menu very limited.Fish curry has been removed. Not happy. Also items on al a carte appear to have shot up in price. Will not be back any time soon
We got their signature, surf & turf (8oz rib eye steak and 1/2 kg of mussels and crevette), smoked salmon and some scottish oysters. All are nice, especially the mussel cooked with whisky, bacon and cream sauce. Love The Mussel & Steak!
Fantastic service and devine food. What more could you ask for? Oh yes!- the Sticky Toffee Pudding to die for :) Well done! Amazing place to enjoy sea food in.
Great food and wine. Really attentive and knowledgeable staff. Good is spot on and simply the best desserts ever. Always our go to place in Edinburgh
Fantastic as always. Great food and atmosphere. Brilliant dessert too
Well worth a visit, fantastic food and great staff plus easy to find in the city
Very good seafood. Large portions. Good selection of Scottish beers, whiskys etc. Nice informal atmosphere. Not cheap but still good value for money. I'd go again
Great food and great service, as always. One of my favourite restaurants in town. The quality of food served here is very high , the prices they charge for the dishes are very reasonable. You will pay much more for far less quality food in majority of restaurants in Edinburgh.
Food was delicious, haggis and black pudding starter was amazing(could have done with a bigger portion) surf and turf main was great, mussels tasty and steak cook perfectly!
Excellent lunch with Mussels. Staff were attentive and fast response. Would book again when we are next in Edinburgh. We currently live in London and travel to Edinburgh at least once a year.
An excellent place! Great food, great service and a great time was had by all! I will certainly be recommending it to everyone I know and if I’m ever in the area again I will be popping in for more oysters, scallops and the best surf and turf I’ve ever had!
Steak tastes good but it will be better if it could add more sides like salad without extra charge. Mussels and oysters taste good too
Bit of a kerfuffle getting seated as too many tables for 8.30 and lots of people still in. Once seated, staff were great and the food and wine were fantastic. Deffo go back again.
Great little place, gorgeous food and satisfying drinks selection. Very friendly staff. Oysters are a must! Simple but delicious for the perfect evening out in town.
